  1. This isn't Jeopardy!, the correct answer is simply "You all have checked MLBTR all the time, forever."
  2. My house was built in 1963. All I found in the studs was an old rifle and some gibberish manifesto signed by a couple of guys going by LBJ and F. Castro.
  3. Yeah, he would be cream of the free agent crop. Clearly though the White Sox also saw the market deficiency moving Sale and shopping Quintana. Maybe it will pick up once/if Quintana is dealt and if the Rays end up dealing any of their arms. I'd like to see the Twins start offering him as a (slightly) more affordable option in terms of prospects to those pitchers.
  4. Still waiting for the PTBNL for Arica. Hey, maybe Arcia will be the PTBNL here! SD still has his rights don't they?
  5. Fingers crossed, with guilt. I don't want to cheer against a player fulfilling his expectations but geez, does it have to be the White Sox? Similar guilt tinged hope against Moncada and Kopich.
  6. The Twins got a PTBNL for Diaz per La Velle (can't copy tweets from work). I wonder if it will be conditioned on whether SD keeps the guy or not.
  7. So San Diego not only traded for Diaz, the first pick but for Luis Torrens the 2nd pick; they also personally had the 3rd pick. All of these guys were in A ball or rookie leagues last years, I am extremely curious about their end-game. Surely they can't carry all three, they didn't figure out a genius loophole in the process did they?
  8. Thanks goulik. See the Rule V draft thread for more details: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/24466-article-rule-5-results-twins-take-miguel-diaz-likely-to-trade/
  9. If it's the first one we're going to have riots here. *****Moderator Warning****** If it's the first one, do not riot here, do it in the streets.
  10. Typically if you have the number 1 pick and trade down to the number 10 pick there is additional compensation. There sure better be here, I just checked Haley's stats and yawned. Maybe he'll miss some bats with a move to the pen.
  11. The Reds took two position players. I'd guess the odds that Stuart is back with the Twins is probably quite a bit higher than 50%.
  12. BA sure nailed their list, did they only get Tyler Webb right? http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2016-rule-5-draft-preview/#gvmRjzIH6ZOrlgI0.97 Diaz looks pretty interesting, but if the Twins can move him for someone who doesn't require a 40-man spot that sounds good too.
  13. So the first four picks played in A ball last year. Well except for Allen Cordoba who only played in the rookie leagues. Well, I guess the Rule V has just taken a dramatic turn!
  14. I agree, I'm getting that feeling also. On the other hand I was thinking the White Sox must have thought the same which is why they chose the Red Sox deal and here they are going right back to the Nationals and getting him for Eaton, who upon closer inspection does have a really nice contract and record of consistency. Probably a lot better player than most people would give him credit for. Still, I'm really jealous of the White Sox right now.
  15. The White Sox are about to get Lucas Giolito and others for Adam Eaton. I so hate the White Sox. On the bright side, the Sox got Eaton by trading Hector Santiago and a PTBNL. Surely the Twins can trade Santiago and a PTBNL for a similar return.
  16. I like the Davis choice, Ryan Raburn was my righty platoon choice last year and I still like him. A .835 OPS against lefties last year and that's in line with the rest of his career.
  17. Dave, good luck to you sir. May your knowledge be thick and your skin thicker if it is not.
  18. Yeah, that's just insane. For one thing, they must have stopped watching baseball about the same time they were mathematically eliminated last year, that being the middle of July, because he was awful after that point just as he was at the end of his career in Washington. For another, Colorado should know by now that a hunchback with tuberculosis holding a broom handle can put up an .800 OPS in Coors Field. Why not just pay Brandon Moss a fraction of what you just gave Desmond to do practically the same thing?
  19. I don't expect Molitor to talk to Sano in the offseason. I would expect there to be some organizational hierarchy that allows for easy and open communication, but that's not Molitor's job in-season let alone during the off season. I'm guessing it's the assistant to the traveling secretary.
  20. Yeah, it probably should be. Am I the only one who is starting to feel the holiday positivity though and think they'll actually get more?
  21. I don't think Soler has shown more power in the minors but the guy is 6'4" and goes about 225 and has a pretty powerful swing, I think it's all about projection for him, he looks like he might be a power guy. Maybe. I'm also surprised by this. Does Soler have more value than I'm giving him credit for, or does Wade Davis have less for some reason. With how much money and more importantly years Chapman, Jensen and Melancon are going to get/have got, I'd have thought there would have been a feeding frenzy for one year of Davis.
  22. That's a positive take on the situation, hope that's the angle. I'd think a veteran in this year's poor free agent pitching market would wait quite a bit longer before accepting a MiLB deal, though it looks like when he signed with the Pirates it was on Dec 3, 2015 which likely was during the winter meetings and that must have been a MiLB deal considering he only pitched in the minors for them. Or perhaps there is a trade off, he'll never get a firm guarantee that he'll start if he gets a MLB deal but it would probably be all but certain if he took a MiLB deal, and he's not ready to slot himself into the pen for the rest of his (likely short) career.
  23. It's not that Solar is a terrible player, it's that he is a poor defender and doesn't have any speed which has been what KC built their offense around. He's a square peg on a team created to accommodate round holes. The defensively flexible Javier Baez would make a lot more sense to me. Maybe now that they are going into rebuild mode they'll try another strategy. Or maybe Dayton Moore kind of lucked his way into the previous winning formula and perhaps isn't a great GM, which is what most people were saying prior to the 2014 season.
  24. Darren Wolfson tweeted (can't post from work) that the Twins are looking at Clayton Richard! Excuse me, that exclamation mark was a typo which occurred trying to clean the vomit off of my keyboard. Maybe they just want him for the pen, but after decades of having issues missing bats it's going to take me a long time to come around on guys like this. I've been conditioned to ruin my keyboard thinking about them. Also, I really hope nobody is fooled by former SD pitchers anymore. I mean the book is out that they nearly all are bad once they leave "America's Finest City".
  25. Well Republicans are ripping Trump too, this one surprisingly: http://www.cnbc.com/2016/12/03/sarah-palin-calls-out-trumps-carrier-deal-warns-against-crony-capitalism.html
