  1. I liked it back in the day as well. I'm wondering what I'd think of it today if I watched it with fresh eyes. The current political climate would probably make me skeptical of motivations, though that's probably more on me than anyone else. After all, with the old show runners it was always the Democrat presidents that were good and the Republican presidents that were bad. Ha, FOX didn't care I guess if it was making the station money.
  2. Muslim looking terrorists, the African American brother is a drug-dealing, gang-banging thug in the ghetto and since it's 24 surely there will surely be tons of torture interrogation scenes. I thought Fox gave up on 24 because ratings were down; I think this show has new showrunners, and while this is probably conspiracy theory stuff on my end, it's on FOX so I can't get it out of the back of my mind that this show was only brought back, ratings be damned, to celebrate and push political agendas. Again, probably conspiracy theory gibberish, but I'm not going to waste my time to find out.
  3. I watched the first episode simply because the TV was still on after the Super Bowl, however my wife had two other shows recording last night so I didn't see Monday's episode. I think I'll pass though. More moles in CTU, and I'm pretty confident in who it is already, plus the lead is an Army Ranger and he looks like he'd get blown over in a stiff wind, but hey, he sure looks attractive! And while I might be giving up too soon before the writers have a chance to redeem themselves via plot twits, the bad guys are foreign terrorists again and it appears one of them is a high school girl who has seduced her teacher while the "All-American" boy next door is on to her. Seeing as this is on Fox, I see great potential for that storyline to be an endorsement of a-hole white guys everywhere to be suspicious of foreigners and take action against them. This is 24 so motivations can change at the drop of a hat and she'll probably end up being a "good guy" spy or something, but if I stuck around only to see her villainous ways come to fruition I'd probably have a broken TV.
  4. Hypothetically, if a team DFA'd a player whom they wanted to sneak through to their 40-man, it sure seems like it would be helpful having a national reporter claim that the player will get released if the team can't trade him. It would be a good way to make other teams think they can get the player for a prorated portion of the remainder of the contract instead of full price if they simply wait out the waiver process and do not submit a claim. Hypothetically.
  5. Stupid rules, who needs 'em.
  6. Yeah, too many guys who aren't terribly good but also not too terrible that you willingly want to DFA them.
  7. OK super bizarro take alert, but I'd think a 12 man staff could also work if you had at least one righty and one lefty who could play a passable corner OF. They wouldn't have to be good, just good enough to guard against the rare opposite field hit when the other pitcher is on the mound. You could rotate them from the mound to a corner sport depending which batter is up.
  8. I don't think he is either, I thought I was clear on the hypothetical situation. I was just wondering if there happened to be a slam dunk pick if both team and player would agree to preventative measures seeing as how much money is at stake for both parties.
  9. Moscow wants Fox News to apologize for Bill O'Reilly calling Putin a killer: http://www.cnbc.com/2017/02/06/kremlin-says-it-wants-apology-from-fox-news-over-putin-comments.html "We consider such words from the Fox TV company to be unacceptable and insulting, and honestly speaking, we would prefer to get an apology from such a respected TV company," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call. Uh huh, OK sure. How about we just pretend Fox News isn't a respected TV company and call it even.
  10. Hopefully, but ugh, last year's biggest weakness once again shows up with everyone wondering if this team will hit a 3 again. Brandon Rush and Tyus Jones are now the best outside shooters? Assuming Muhammad's current pace is not likely to continue, I'd guess those two would have to see a significant increase in minutes.
  11. I'm looking forward to it. I only hope that the effort put into this show doesn't negatively impact Fargo season three since both programs have the same show runner.
  12. Yeah, the biggest thing for the Patriots was how much they had the ball. The first half Atlanta couldn't have done much about it because the Falcons scored using a pick six and a handful of big offensive plays, it's not like you're going to regret those points simply because you didn't hold the ball longer. But that last drive was Atlanta's chance to manage the clock to their advantage. And their O-line should not have been gassed. They should have been stiff and stale if anything, they hardly were ever on the field.
  13. Triple 'Like'. I wonder if there would ever be a HS arm considered the consensus top pick this early in the year and both the team and the player know going in that he'll be the choice so to prevent injury there is a mutual agreement that he doesn't pitch competitively (strenuously?) but instead only does simulated or side sessions working within a throwing program and with an instructor endorsed by the team? Not that I'm suggesting Greene is that guy, just a hypothetical I was thinking about the other day; an already anointed pick, like if Bryce Harper had been a pitcher or Stephen Strausberg had been a high schooler.
  14. Well I hope my post didn't sound too ominous or anything. It just had lots of new characters added with lots of different storylines not all of which seem to have a lot of purpose, but maybe they are part of a bigger picture yet to be revealed. Not all of the characters are as compelling as the original main cast though and it's hard to tell if it's the characters or the actors. That's in regard to the back half of the season anyway, the first half was more similar to the previous seasons.
  15. To be clear, you don't like Travelers? I was considering it because it had gotten good critical and audience reviews. However it looked like it had massive potential to be preachy and it also looked like the kind of show that might try to hard to hold the audiences hand instead of letting the viewers try to figure out what's going on.
  16. I like Vikings, without spoiling anything though, I hope recent developments in the story don't hurt the ratings and cause the show to go under, I suspect it could. I'm fine with how it's going, but I'm not sure how other viewers feel.
  17. I was hoping for that opportunity, but really only because I wanted to see Bryant miss the kick leaving the Falcons in the exact same spot to lose as the Vikings did in the 1999 NFC Championship game. Football may be the only thing that brings out the schadenfreude in me.
  18. Just wait until the Star Wars preview comes out, it will make it perpetual winter.
  19. Unlike baseball, lately I've had a hard time rooting for any football team. I was cheering against the Falcons because I'm still sore about 1998, but also because I'll be damned if another championship-less team wins a Super Bowl before my Vikings do. Unless that championship-less team is playing the Packers, Bears or Cowboys, then win away.
  20. I believe the first season was supposed to take place in 1983. I saw the kids wearing Ghostbusters Halloween costumes so it must be 1984 now.
  21. Everyone knows that the only part of the Constitution that needs to be followed is the 2nd amendment. Heck, the Bill of Rights is even on a different document so we can probably go ahead and toss page one in the garbage, it's basically just a cover letter anyway.
  22. If we're playing predictions, mine is Kintzler, Pressly, Chargois, Belisle, Hughes, Rogers and O'Rourke. But I would like to find room for Tonkin initially and Melotakis, Duffey and Hildenberger in short order.
  23. I don't understand how losing Park would make the Twins frauds.
  24. Yeah, I like riding my bike. It's been a little tough the last couple years though because my kids are old enough to bike, but too young to bike far. It's kind of hard to tell my kids I'm going out to ride my bike without them.
  25. My dad tore his in high school and I kind of think that stuff is genetic. A few years back after trying to get in shape by running (yuck) I got tendonitis in my achilles. Now I can't run more than about a mile without it feeling like it's on fire. Or so the excuse goes when my wife tries to get me in shape again.
