  1. Why? It's currently a holding pen for more than one veteran, low upside reliever.
  2. It might say "DRAFTMETWINS". Hard to tell.
  3. I don't understand what you're getting at. Are you suggesting that the current bullpen is too good to find room for the veterans who miss out on the rotation spots?
  4. I agree. I don't let that slide with most movies, pretty hard not to with superhero movies though, I have to watch all of them with a grain of salt. Basically the premise in all of them is, let's give this person some super awesome ability that normal humans couldn't dream of overcoming. Except it's not fun if there isn't any kind of struggle for the hero so we have to make an Achilles heel and/or make it inconvenient for them to use their abilities. And we'll probably have to ret-con another Achilles heel and think of another reason for them not to be able to use their abilities for the sequel or else the movies will start getting redundant.
  5. Why? How is having Hughes, Santiago and/or Vogelsong in the pen ready to be recalled back to the rotation upon need more of a catastrophe than having the aged vets in the rotation and actually having to fly the young guys in from AAA when the vets fart and falter?
  6. Then I'm not reading the tea leaves wrong. If the team really, really wanted the young guys to step up and take the jobs than Plan A, even if overly optimistic, should have been Santana, Gibson, May, Berrios and Mejia with Hughes, Santiago and Vogelsong as the insurance if the youngsters couldn't cut it. In nearly every case it truly appears that the team wants the vets to step up and take the jobs. The kids are there for the spots the vets can't cover. At least when it comes to the pitching staff.
  7. I don't like 30-year-old pitchers, there's nowhere to go but down. I'm also in the camp that spending on position players is a better move. If the team still can't develop their own arms, I'd rather trade for a young arm, even if it's a painful trade. Or you know, the team could instead spend the money needed to make the team's scouting and development of pitchers the cream of the crop in the league. How much would it actually cost to steal other teams best scouts and minor league instructors? It's probably a pittance compared to what they'd pay for even a back of the rotation starter.
  8. Not to mention many of those who voted for him are just like him and would NEVER admit to making a mistake. Those types of people typically double down on their follies. I think there should be a constitutional amendment to require the installation of mirrors in voting booths.
  9. Geez, sounds like all anyone wanted to see is a bunch of psychologically scarred, bloodthirsty 3rd graders decapitate a bunch of people. Yeah, that does sound pretty good actually.
  10. Maybe I'm reading the tea leaves incorrectly but this doesn't sound like the current scenario. To me it sounds like they want the vets to step up and take the jobs, not the other way around. And at this point the vets aren't. These kids don't have to be finished products, I'd rather watch them and their rough edges than faded vets on their last stop.
  11. OK, but why do only young guys have to earn their spot based on merit?
  12. I don't feel unsafe in the least. I herby designate my share of taxes to something else. Can someone please publically call out this bogus narrative that we're all in some kind of mortal danger.
  13. Yup, Patrick Swayze's playing the same role but without the special effects this time.
  14. When did Chargois not perform well? He was good down the stretch last year. Or are we basing it off of spring training stats. Because if we are than Vogelsong, Santiago, Hughes and Belisle should be out of a job also.
  15. Regardless of the quality of the original movies, the idea of living in an altered reality just isn't novel any longer. Other movies and TV shows are doing it better now, not interested in the Matrix again.
  16. Well in that case I nominate someone other than Rachel Maddow to be soothsayer. She totally bungled her audition. But I still like her.
  17. Woo-hoo! Ahead of the White Sox! Ha, this part had me laughing: "The Cleveland Indians were one of baseball’s biggest success stories in 2016. I have to admit that I kind of saw it coming. If you dig into ESPN Insider archives, you might find that I was the only one of 96 or so of their contributors who picked the Tribe to win the AL pennant." I must admit, I am a genius. It was a good write up, but that had to be the worst attempt at false humility I've ever read. Good stuff though!
  18. Right, why the hell doesn't Scotty have his finger on the teleport button all the time.
  19. Right, that's why I wonder if there is a deleted scene. It wouldn't take that much creativity to explain what happened. Maybe one can teleport or something? One can mind-control a semi-driver to take them? Adults did go with them but fell into one of North Dakota's notorious Sarlacc pits?
  20. I'm wondering what kind of deleted scenes there will be for this one, because I'm not sure if there were other adults that made it out. There was the one with little Wolverine but those two got separated from the other kids. I kind of thought the kids just went to the coordinates which seems unlikely, but no less likely than little Wolverine driving half the way there in a truck while Logan was passed out. I wonder if there is a deleted scene where one of the little X-Men has a Professor X type ability or some kind of homing skill which we did not see. I assumed we were going to hear a line of dialogue about that once little Wolverine somehow ended up in the right spot. The bad guys getting too close to the superheroes who can annihilate them is pretty much the biggest plot hole in every superhero movie ever. If Superman, Wolverine, The Hulk or Thor were real people, they would do exactly zero fighting in the real world after word of their invincibility spread. Every ne'er do well would twiddle their thumbs and behave themselves until the superhuman left the county.
  21. I agree, It would help a ton if the team had the pieces to put 22 starters on the field and only use the draft to grab BPAs. I'd be nice if they signed another couple interior lineman and another DB. And WR. And QB. Also a LB or two. And a punter of course. OK, nevermind, let's just get to the draft.
  22. I don't know, that doesn't look like what they are doing to me. Teams generally put an emphasis on large infusions of veterans for quick fixes. And from my perspective, the Twins are in no position to go for a quick fix, that's typically what teams poised to make a run do. These guys seem to be giving every indication that they think these cheap vets are the key to being competitive.
  23. Maybe they're like me, concern went out the window around November last year, and out right resignation has already set in. I like Zimmer a lot, he's the kind of coach I always wanted even while I barely knew he existed. But maybe my affinity for him has clouded my judgment because something isn't right with this team and I'm becoming less and less convinced that Spiellman's recent spell of poor drafting and poor free agent moves are solely to blame. Maybe I'm reading the vibe wrong, and I hope I am, because to me it's coming across as if this current iteration of the organization has hit a wall and recovery is unlikely.
  24. Do triple ides mean you get murdered by triple the number of friends as normal?
  25. Is it wrong that I half hope nature's timer has ticked on Breslow through no fault of his own so he can jump right into working with Berrios, Gonsalves and Romero? He sounds like such a great find. For front office/coaching possibilities if not the actual bullpen. Good luck Craig, glad to have you in a future capacity though. That was implied in his signing right, he'd do the Hunter/Hawkins/Cuddyer bit? We're not grooming him for future analytical dominance for Cleveland or anything right?
