  2. Yeah, probably can't do much to include her without Natalie Portman's character. With the main characters they're going to have to recast or kill them off when they want out of the series, but if actresses like Portman and Gwenyth Paltrow who have less essential roles, I wonder if they'll just write them off with a line of dialogue or two if they won't come back to get killed off on screen. I know comics always have love interests, but typically they aren't plot essential.
  3. Impossible. That doesn't fit with my agenda obsession observation joke that Gibson should give up his sinker.
  4. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3118/2337174727_5d817d764f_m.jpg Use a picture of Old Yeller. Let's just get this over with. http://www.rellimzone.com/images/movies/old-yeller-1957-11.png
  5. Maybe Gibson should just start grooving fastballs down the middle instead of sinkers out of the zone. The Tigers batted .500 against his sinker yesterday and got nary a hit against his other three pitches: http://www.brooksbaseball.net/outcome.php?player=502043&b_hand=-1&gFilt=&pFilt=FA|SI|FC|CU|SL|CS|KN|CH|FS|SB&time=game&minmax=ci&var=baa&s_type=2&startDate=04/12/2017&endDate=01/01/2018
  6. Damn, I guess it only works once.
  7. Man our teams are just snakebit. Wild are dominating but it's clear nothing will get through.
  8. See what I did there, a bit of the old reverse psychology!

  10. Or any time on a ball field this year. He's yet to make his 2017 debut.
  11. Alas, all three young OF are tearing the cover off the ball. They have a 1.081 OPS, that's Sano territory! Oh, check that. That OPS is if you add all three together.
  12. Sorry, also one more request for an update. Luis Arraez has only played in half of the Miracle's games this year. Is he also injured? I hope he's not platooning, he is by far the offensive player I am most interested in on that squad.
  13. The Twins could really use another bat to emerge, fingers crossed Blankenhorn is becoming what we hoped he could when he was drafted. Also, I must have missed a report but is Chargois injured? I don't know why else he hasn't pitched yet this year.
  14. I agree, Spicer is feeble minded and the people feeding him his intel and his talking points are equally inept. But the goal of his Hitler analogy wasn't to dismiss the Nazi's actions, the goal clearly was to inflate Assad's villainy because justifying their actions and their future actions was obviously the entire point of the press conference. The guy isn't pro-Nazi or a Holocaust denier (well maybe he is, but not based on this incident) he and his cohorts are just really, really, really bad at propaganda and debate and have almost no common sense.
  15. It's always been that way though, that's not a modern thing. Roster construction also involves figuring out who has option years left and who can clear waivers, who still needs work and where the depth will be. These aren't things that the field manager dictates, nor should he. The manager controls in-game action, the GM controls most everything else.
  16. Breslow or Haley for me. I might do Haley now just to rip the Band-Aid off and get it over with. I don't think it's a good idea to try to keep him all year. Best case scenario is he's an expendable back of the rotation starter. Worst case is he's a bullpen righty with a 91 MPH FB, he just doesn't have the velocity to make it work. At least with Ryan Pressly and J.R. Graham there was some long shot projection as they could bring mid-90's heat.
  17. So what are you saying, the difference between Holland and your closer of choice, Tyler Duffey, is even less? If the best of the best bullpen arms are only negligible difference makers, then there really is no reason to worry about the pen at all?
  18. If there wasn't language prohibiting that then I'd think teams would have been doing this all along instead of paying the player and then paying the same amount in penalties to the league for blowing past their international cash allotment. With how tight MLB owners are, I can't see them paying the 100% penalty if there had always been a cheaper loophole to manipulate.
  19. Those guys all signed before the new CBA when teams were free to go over slot on their international free agent money and pay the penalty. The new CBA now prevents that if I'm not mistaken.
  20. The Asian leagues also have the age restriction then? I guess that sounds familiar though I thought that was only for the countries south of the border.
  21. There's a cap to how much the MLB teams can pay the foreign teams for the players rights, but not how much the player can make, from my understanding. I think the max cap is 20M and as long as more than one team bids 20M he can negotiate his salary with multiple teams. A guy like Park was hindered because no one is going to bid the max cap which means there is no tie bid and the highest bidder wins negotiating rights. But a guy like Otani will surely have many if not most teams bidding the max.
  22. While I know he can play in the field, I would guess an AL team would be the best fit because of the DH possibility. Or maybe it wouldn't since you'd lose the DH for the day if he's pitching and hitting. I don't know, hard to wrap my head around this unique situation. Still hard to not see him going to a big market though. If he is a two way player he's going to be a seat-filling novelty that any team would want. Well any team that isn't fearful of trying new ideas and strategies. I'm fairly confident Gardy and Ryan wouldn't have been comfortable giving a two way player a shot. It sure would be nice if other "Old School" types like Mike Scioscia and Dave Dombrowski find the idea off-putting. Getting the Angels and Red Sox out of the bidding sure would be helpful to a smaller market team's pursuit.
  23. They did and Breaking Bad was awesome because of it. But because of his constant peril, Walt's story line was almost always intense and compelling. The fact that Breaking Bad was able to have near continuous intensity for five seasons was it's biggest accomplishment in my view. So far, outside of Jimmy's short Tuco story arc in season one, the only real intensity is coming from Mike's story. I personally enjoy Jimmy's story and if Mike wasn't in this show I think it would hold it's own as a completely different kind of narrative than Breaking Bad. A story about Jimmy is different and better than most other shows that focus on the law. However Mike's underworld dealings and clever ruse's are way too reminiscent of BB, so fans will always be reminded that this isn't a different world or a different kind of story. So if this show continues to have two separate and unique narratives, I think they are in danger of the audience losing interest in one of them and hoping to see more of the most compelling of the two.
  24. Yeah this show has to be careful or people are going to be bored with the Jimmy stuff and just want to get to the Mike stuff. I know the wirters like the buildup and the character development, which is really good, but I think lots of fans are going to start getting impatient if Jimmy doesn't start getting more involved with the criminal element soon.
  25. Yeah, it was a good interview and did shed some light, but still had the sense of egg shells and kid gloves. No matter how hard some push, baseball is still stuck in Stone Age quite often. Dynamics and responsibilties should change.
