    John Fisher bought the A's in 2005 and ran them into the ground so he could move them in 2025. That was 15 years. Also, come 2040, Target Field will be as old as the Metrodome was when the Twins left it. However, I see very little chance the Twins are moving in 2040 as relocation is MLB's biggest threat to get new stadiums. The other owners aren't going to let the new guys in the club jump in line and steal their best leverage to improve the stadiums that actually are outdated. The Coliseum in Oakland was already a terrible stadium in 2005, and like the Coliseum, the Metrodome was ALWAYS a cut-rate stadium that didn't match up to it's peer venues. Target Field still ranks as one of the best in the league.

    Well I thought the idea was that the status quo wasn't acceptable. Now were happy with new owners doing the same thing the Pohalds do?

    The Marlins went from a 115M opening day payroll in 2017, sold in 2018 and haven't had an opening day payroll over 100M since. They've been a bottom ten payroll team every year, and a bottom five payroll team all but two of those years.

    Probably doesn't matter either way, but with a local buyer, you at least have an outside chance that the person would actually be a Twins fan and motivated to go all out for his or her life-long favorite team.

    I feel really guilty, because I REALLY dislike the Pohlads. But it's hard to get away from the feeling that we could be Eastern Europe being liberated from the Nazis by Joseph Stalin.

    I agree, they didn't care too much, but they cared enough about their standing to keep the Twins out of the A's/Pirates/Rays tier of teams. Going there is a real possibility with new owners with zero built in equity.

    If everyone is harping on them for not caring about winning (rightfully so) why would we assume they care about their 'legacy'? Look, I'll be cautiously optimistic, but that's going to be 75% cautious and 25% optimistic.

    Yes, I completely agree, but what makes everybody think we'll get owners that do care? Local owners with other local businesses still have a vested interest in trying to keep a good reputation around here, even if it's just a token gesture. Some hedge fund led group is ONLY going to answer to their investors.

    Agree, I'm not afraid of them moving. Except even further down in the payroll rankings. Not saying they absolutely will, but assuming they won't with new owners seems to be looking at this with rose colored glasses.

    I'd really not like to get a Derek Jeter led group like the Marlins got. Which should also be a cautionary tale for anyone hoping A-Rod decides to buy the Twins instead of the TWolves.

    Ziggy has full revenue sharing and salary caps and floors. He couldn't pocket half of the payroll if he wanted to.

    Even if they don't move the team, the new owners won't have decades of equity to profit from either. I don't care for the Pohalds any more than the rest of Twins nation, but thinking we'll get owners who'll increase the payroll is probably extremely wishful. There are more 'bad' owners than 'good'. And the 'good' owners lately only seem to buy the big market teams.

    I didn't say I was. I'm saying complaining about everything and pretending that the successes, like Joe Ryan and Pablo Lopez aren't real takes away from your argument.

    I don't think trading him extends the team's winning window. I mean, are they in that window now? You'd have to trade the one star player and then use the money to sign, what, four non-star players? So basically you'd have to get lucky and acquire four Carlos Santanas instead of Santana, Margot, Vazquez and DeSclafani. That parley NEVER pays off.

    Disliking ownership or the front office or the team in general doesn't mean you can't acknowledge when they do something right.

    Hey I like getting prospects, but I'm not interested in trading for more of them at this time. Offensively Alcantara looks like he's OK in most areas but great in none of them. Seems to me those types of prospects end up having nice careers spread out over about a half dozen clubs. They're not building blocks.

Mr. "I've been immunized", ditch training camp with no explanation, Sandy-Hook-didn't-happen says he had NOTHING to do with his coach getting fired. Hard not to believe him with his track record.

    Their upcoming schedule could save him. Browns, Giants, Bengals, Jaguars. Though, if they lose those games, yeah, no way he survives.

    I'm guessing the gambling kingpins would tell the NFL they aren't taking a three week decrease in profits. And the NFL is going to listen to the gambling kingpins.

    Yeah, the coastal cities and media moguls don't understand the Midwest. Blacking out games in the middle of the Dakotas is like New York blacking out everything East of Cleveland.

    Well, the cost USED to be covered by advertisers and I'm pretty sure the NFL and NBA are doing great in that area. But the average Joe wouldn't recognize Jose Ramirez walking down the street, and 95% of the population probably has never heard of Bobby Witt Jr. MLB has screwed up in so many ways, but this might be the worst. I mean we're living in an age where Youtube and Tik Tok nobodies are famous and there are advertisements plastered on every one of the two dozen screens in people's houses. How are the best baseball players in the world nearly anonymous?

    I'd guess there'd also be the issue of getting in a situation with another team's current defensive coordinator about who can flex the hardest.
