  1. Not that I really want Rucinski around all that badly, but he's only 2 years older than Baxendale. Does 26 vs. 28 really offer that much extra youth and upside? Numbers wise, their minor league careers actually look somewhat comparable.
  2. No, Dick, don't give Haley credit for staying in the game. If he's still injured/re-injured he should have come out of the game. There are no heroic performances in a meltdown like this.
  3. Honestly, could Burdi and Melotakis, and whoever else do much worse than Belisle, Pressly and Haley? This is just gross.
  4. If they act fast maybe they can save on the plane fare and Haley can fly back with the Sox.
  5. Good point. I didn't even consider that. They should probably make that second HR by Young an unearned run. If Polanco made that play, Tepesch would've never been chased. In turn, Rucinski wouldn't have had to come in so early so when he faced Young, his pitches would've been more unhittable. Thanks, Jorge!
  6. Seriously, these two need to stop dwelling on the error. Nick and Drew had MANY chances to stop the bleeding after that, and they didn't do it. Some of it is on Polanco, but a whole bunch of it is on them, too.
  7. Did Jack just say Kintzler didn't pitch that bad last night?
  8. Goodness. This is incredibly unbelievable. I can't believe Nick Tepesch and Drew Rucinski are unable to get major league hitters out. Who saw this coming?
  9. Error or not, this was going to happen. Tepesch is just not good. And I'd be surprised to see Rucinski stop the bleeding.
  10. How many muscles do you think he pulled smiling like that? Emotions have to be a shock to his system.
  11. I don't know. Walk-off HR to the most unlikely culprit and a suspension might top expected demotion.
  12. I think that was the safest purchase you could've ever made.
  13. Seriously, is any pitcher having a worse week or two than Matt Barnes? First he throws at Manny and gets suspended and now he gives up the baseball equivalent of a rainbow unicorn. Looks like Pawtucket is getting a new arm pretty soon.
  14. What the hell did I just witness? Was my allergy medicine laced with something?
  15. Morris on color makes me appreciate Bert more.
  16. I thought I"d be happier when this moment finally came. But is the Tepesch, Adrianza, Rucinski trio any better than DanSan, Gibson and Boshers? Adrianza, just based on his defensive potential alone, is likely an upgrade over Santana, but I view the pitchers as a wash if not a step backward ... who thought it possible?
  17. OK new game ... drink every time they mention exit velocity.
  18. Anybody else just yell curse words at their TV when Marney mentioned the "cautious" approach Mollie is preaching with Berrios? The more things change, the more they stay the same.
  19. Man, I appreciate Rob's willingness to walk, but a lot of times it seems like he has zero interest in actually swinging the bat.
  20. Right now Molitor is using the bullpen phone to call upstairs to get Derek and Thad to give DanSan a Trout-like extension ... can't risk that arm walking away.
  21. Because he saw a box score where Wheeler had a career game, and Hague is the flavor of the week. No other reason.
  22. Don't forget to praise his versatility ... not everyone can be that bad in that many places.
  23. I can stand in my yard and flap my arms all day, but it doesn't make me a bird. Likewise, DanSan's ability to flail his limbs wildly at batted balls in a variety of positions around the field make him a valuable defensive asset.
