  1. Man, I just want Twins baseball to be fun to watch again. Is that really too much to ask?
  2. 72 wins would be, like, a record or something, wouldn't it?
  3. Given the fact that he froze in his place, my hunch is that the contact play was not on. People can defend him all they want, but he makes some absolutely boneheaded decisions. He's looked "smart" a few times because of errors and missed tags, but that doesn't make it a good decision.
  4. Last week when we were discussing the ineptitude of this team at performing the fundamentals, someone tried to tell me Dozier is a good baserunner. I'd like that person to recant their statement.
  5. I believe he's out of options, so they'd need to DFA him to send him down.
  6. You're gonna get torched for low-balling our hometown hero. Get ready for numbers from 6 years ago and arguments about how Eric Hosmer went Great Muppet Caper on Joe's gold glove.
  7. I stand by my previous statement of raw nerves. Just like Mauer doesn't owe the Twins a "make-good" contract, the Twins don't owe Joe another contract just to keep him around. And that, I think, is what the actual point of the column was. I'm not sure who overreacts more - the hardcore Mauer detractors or the ones who feel they need to defend him at every turn.
  8. Man, your nerves seem a bit raw on this one. When I read Souhan's column, I didn't view it nearly as negatively as you seemed to have, and that's really saying something. And the part about being a financial burden at the end, I took that to mean - don't give him a $15-20 million contract, not "pay him the league minimum or it's too much." It feels like you reached a bit to find something to get upset about here. And now I'm upset because I've had to partially defend Souhan
  9. Can't cut him if he's still in the uniform.
  10. You're right it does ... and in the last 5 years he's been a very average player. While some might be undervaluing what he did early, you're undervaluing the effect of the latter years on his case. He was a generational talent for the first half, and Wally Joyner for the second.
  11. And how many people have done matched his production in the other half? A lot.
  12. That's only going to be half of the story though. Since the concussions, injuries and position change, he's average to slightly above average. If he gets in, it'll be well down the line - a veteran's committee-type thing.
  13. I think there'd have to be a LOT of injuries and players declining for a team this bad to get more than one person in - deserved or not.
  14. Yep, Dick, I know when I think of the greatest baseball nicknames, I think of Sultan of Swat, Splendid Splinter, Iron Horse, and Big Sexy. But not necessarily in that order.
  15. Dick doesn't honestly think the Twins are getting more than 1 All-Star, does he?
  16. I wouldn't want to see him go back out there starting an inning at 107 pitches.
  17. In what universe is that not an E-3?
  18. You're not alone. I didn't hate the move, was perplexed by it, but not upset by it.
  19. Does the bag of donuts know what right field is?
  20. Can that happen even if they don't?
  21. Better MLB hitter right now - Bobby Wilson or Alex Kirilloff?
  22. Molly: Bobby, those idiots over on Twins Daily think you can't hit. Show 'em what you got. Bobby:
