  1. You ever correct your significant other in public? Now imagine pinch hitting for him/her in the bottom of the 9th. That's what Molly faced today.
  2. I know BA is an outdated statistic that we hate because it doesn't tell the whole story and only focuses on a player's ability to successfully reach base by way of a hit, but can we now finally be concerned about Robbie Grossman? I know he's the OBP messiah and has been anointed nothing below the 4th OF for the next decade since the day he put on that beautiful red jersey, but another 0-fer has pushed his BA for June down to .220. I know Terry Ryan is always right - and we love him for it - but I can't help but feel maybe there's cause for concern here. Like, maybe all those teams that deemed him unworthy of their roster were possibly right? Is there a chance Robbie isn't as good as we were lead to believe? I mean, he was the #76 preseason prospect of 2012 in one publication ... does that mean nothing? But, seriously, at what age is it inappropriate for a grown man to be called Robbie? Or Bobby, Billy, Petey, etc. for that matter?
  3. Roy by a mile. Which says a lot because, Gorg isn't exactly stellar.
  4. I've never quoted myself on here, but I'm willing to make exceptions when I nail predictions like this.
  5. This is absolutely what I meant - .240 over his last 15+ games now.
  6. Does Roy think if he keeps saying that Milone is too good to be in AAA it will magically come true? Perhaps he should stick to overestimating the abilities of the Twins batters rather than branching out to the pitchers.
  7. I believe the Real Rob Grossman has officially stood up.
  8. I wonder if the Yankees took BP today or if they figured they'd get enough of it during however many innings Milone lasts tonight. I'm guessing 3.2.
  9. But if they had to send Park down to AAA - even if only for a short while - would be Terry Ryan admitting that he screwed something up. Terry Ryan has never admitted a mistake.
  10. Molitor just looked into the camera and said that he gave Oswaldo an opportunity. And he was serious about. Time for this clown to ride out of town his boss.
  11. Perhaps I've been watching different games than you have. Because aside from a couple of plays and a handful of throws, I haven't seen anything that justifies the continuation of the experiment.
  12. It'll be nice to be first to the scrap heap as opposed to last for a change #glasshalffull
  13. Do we know if there was a reason Kepler was pinch-hit for? Injury (hopefully not)?
  14. I must be missing something in the numbers then. When I looked I didn't think "solid start," I thought "meh." I hope I'm wrong, but I feel like these ABs could be better spent on someone else - Arcia FT, Kepler FT, etc. This is basically another Darin Mastroianni, who provides zero value to any team not named the Saints or Skeeters.
  15. Seth, I'm trying to understand why you're so seemingly high on Grossman. Aside from showing a willingness to take a walk, he seemingly does nothing very well. Everything about him screams "average at best." I guess I just don't get it. There's a reason that two teams that - at at least at the time - had plenty of roster space for guys that showed actual promise.
  16. Thank goodness I kept reading long enough to see "Beresford" make its way into the equation. It wouldn't be a proper article without someone championing the cause of Nick Punto Jr. Or is he more Glenn Williams? Oh, maybe a poor man's Denny Hocking? THAT is exactly what this team needs - more marginal talent.
  17. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy - great player, great ambassador for the game, marketable, etc. You name it, he's got it. However, given that it would take probably 5 of top-10 prospects in the system, plus probably 2 more in the top-20, I'm not sure it'd be worth it. If I were the Angels and Terry Ryan came calling, I'd ask for Buxton, Kepler, Polanco, Berrios, Gonsalves, Burdi and Thorpe and I wouldn't back off much from that.
  18. Mauer at the top is a good start. Now Molitor needs to open his eyes to see that Dozier isn't a top-half of the order hitter.
  19. My thoughts exactly. I was thinking last night's start virtually guaranteed he'd be on his way to the pen ... then he pulled that magic horseshoe from wherever he had it hidden. Maybe we'll luck out and they'll decide it's time to see what Meyer can do in the rotation.
  20. No. Just no. Any team is worse once Mastro suits up for them.
  21. They could do that, but that doesn't seem like something they like to do. The M.O. is to wait, wait some more, play shorthanded, wait, send him out there when he "feels ready" and then, either through, fatigue, injury or illness hits and you're pretty much unable to field a full roster, then you put him on the DL.
  22. Plan? You, sir, you are the winner of the internet today! I think it's pretty obvious that TR made a plan back in the '90s - win the baseball matches - and he hasn't strayed from that plan in all these years
  23. THIS!!! So much this. A young Kepler is going to give you the same, if not more, than an aging Murphy. He might not hit as much right away (although I do stress might), but he's better defensively and on the bases. Enough retreads. Lumps will be taken this season, let it be with the young guys. At least it's something to enjoy.
  24. This series of moves isn't surprising, but I don't particularly care for some of the things that could have been set in place today: Duffey sticks around to make sure Santana can make his next start (which is probably a smart move) or he sticks around in case Milone implodes again and they decide it's time for him to go to the bullpen. If Ervin's good and Tommy doesn't go all Milone the second time through the order, Duffey back to AAA. I'm OK with the reasoning here. That empty spot on the 40-man roster and the lack of bats on the bench makes me believe that ever-aging Murphy and never worthwhile Mastroianni are being considered for bench duty on this team.I like that Meyer has been called up. I hate that he's been called up to pitch out of the pen. I think last year (a.k.a. the Lost Year) had just as much to do with comfort and a feeling of "what do I have to do to finally get my shot with this team?" as anything else. He regains his confidence as a starter and starts pitching really well again and he gets called up to pitch out of the pen. Why mess with what appears to be a good thing? I think TR has made his mind up that Meyer is a bullpen arm and that's the end of it.Not calling up Berrios has made my life 100 times more difficult. Now I'll have to hear countless friends complain about the Twins being cheap and his "service clock."2-man bench for tonight. Not that I expect they'll need more than that, but they've really handcuffed themselves for it being so early in the season. There's time to turn it around, but this is really starting to look like a trainwreck of a season.
  25. This could be a reach, but has anyone thought that maybe Escobar is in the same vein as Nick Punto was ... not in a bad way. Punto, when serving in that utility role, battling for ABs and a starting job, played really well - or at least well enough to earn more playing time and eventually starting gigs. However, once those jobs were "handed" to him he struggled. It seemed like that fire to prove them all wrong was what drove him. Could we see a bit of regression, as someone suggested earlier, now that he's been "given" the job from Day 1? Escobar strikes me as the kind of guy that wants to prove everybody wrong and that just drives him more. That said, I hope it doesn't happen that way. I like Escobar and detested Punto. I'll be interested to see what "The Stick" can do with a full season ... see if there's something there full-time or if he's a super utility guy and they need to look at one of young guys long-term.
