  1. Did either Cleveland or Milwaukee have a sudden 40% cut in team payroll? With ownership talking about right sizing and selling the team?
  2. I'd rank the Twins last because of horrendous ownership. That was a category not listed at all. Who wants a job where the team payroll can change by leaps and bounds to which the manager has no control over but will be held accountable for the ensuing failure sure to follow. Yes there are only thirty of these jobs but the Twins would easily rank last because of this one factor.
  3. I've dreamed of being a billionaire. There goes that hypothesis.
  4. They got another baseball season for that to change.
  5. There is a very ugly face in the middle of this article that needs to be removed.
  6. Foe those people who automatically say no to Mendez, don't forget that the Twins will need a first baseman next year. Clements is not the answer he already has proven that his entire career. The only other options being offered are at prices that the Twins are not going to afford. Somebody raise their hand if they are certain the Twins will spend $15 million or more for a free agent first baseman or any other position. They may get a better first base prospect in a trade for one of Lopez or Ryan but other than that I don't see why not put Mendez at first and let him have a shot at making the majors. Does someone really think the Twins are going to the playoffs next year or beating out Cleveland, Detroit or Kansas City? They will probably have their handful just trying to stay ahead of Chicago.
  7. Firing. the owners would have been something meaningful.
  8. I think the percentage of end of year 40 man squad members remaining by the first game of next year might be around 60%. Anybody have a better guess?
  9. Wallner reminds me of a young Schwarber. I suspect very few teams would want a young Schwarber right now but none would turn down a hitter with 56 homers and 132 RBI's. Will Wallner ever have those kind of stats? Probably not but maybe.
  10. He always has an obp over 400. Doesn't matter what level or how injured he is.
  11. I did not know that Buxton's no trade deal change after2026. I wonder what team's are on his list. It definitely makes it more likely that he will be traded this winter. Since he has more options about where he won't go.
  12. I doubt there are any front offices that "like" no trade agreements. They don't want them for the same reason that players do.
  13. Funderburk seems to have found something as a bullpen lefty this year although his last 2 seasons for the Twins have not been good. Laweryson, another lefty, did well for the Twins but only threw 7 innings. He did have a good season at both AA and AAA this year to earn his call up.
  14. I don't think you need a closer until you have a team that is good enough to win some games. I don't expect that team directions will be passed down by ownership until next year. I 'm thinking ownership expected to sell the team early this year and when that didn't happen they didn't have a plan B. I think that's why they had a fire sell at the end of July. Ownership had a board meeting and told Falvey to cut payroll by $50 million and that was the only plan they had.
  15. Fitzgerald has been primarily a shortstop in his career with over 380 games played, He has also played over 100 games at third and second base plus some outfield time. I think he would be a good utility player for the team. The word from ownership that has come out about what they are doing this winter or next year seems too be non existent. No body on the team knows what they doing, the front office does know, and ownership hasn't committed to anything. Heck maybe they are going to sell washers and dryers.
  16. Maybe create a new position. DH/RP and bring him in 2-3 time a week to pitch in relief and continue as a batter.
  17. I would prefer to be positive then as negative as all the White Sox lovers on this site.
  18. If we're going to cherry pick then lets not pick the month following the month of August after half the team was traded away. Had have your favorite Mets been doing/
  19. Since early June when Lewis got out of Spring Training mode, he has been hitting over 270 on a 30 homer 100 RBI pace. His OPS is around 777, that could be higher and he needs to walk more. Along with his stolen base rate, which I doubt he could keep up for a full season, he'd make a heck of a third baseman.
  20. Now that he ended his season injured, even it is not considered a serious injury, that will make it much harder to trade him this winter. That's good news and could facilitate him pitching for the Twins next year.
