  1. On the major league trade board, I'd just keep his name on there. But even if he does well, who's going to give anything?
  2. Extending a pitcher is preposterous. And Keaschall doesn't have the potential of the guys you want to extend. I'm still confused by what Milwaukee was thinking with Cooper Pratt. If Keaschall has a good year, something like his stats from 2025, then, yeah, offer him something to buy out a couple years of free agency at that point. I don't know how the lockout is going to affect this all.
  3. Keaschall is scaring me. He is in the 14th percentile in Exit Velo and has exactly 0 barrels. Even his normally amazing Squared Up Pct is down at the 33rd %ile. I think he's a major reason for the low run output. I just want to be sure this start isn't the norm, because he looks bad (right now). I expect SqUp % to rise considerably, along with walk rate. But he's got to hit the ball harder, too, and that's not something he's shown. It's concerning, as this type of data wasn't readily available to us for most all of his minors.
  4. Thanks for these. This is the best feature TD has, and I really appreciate it. Two things: 1. You have Eli Jones with the wrong BR link. Here is the correct one: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=jones-002eli Also, what in the world was so draftable about him? I hate to say it, but just from his college statlines, he was pretty awful. Given that he's not a hitter, I do trust the Twins had some rationale. He wasn't a senior picked to save money, so it must be a pitch they think they can work with, likely the slider. 2. The Miracle or Flying Fish or whatever Fort Myers is called these days might be the worst minor league club in all of baseball. I'd believe that before believing the Saints are close to the best one. They were really bad last year (so few promotions), as was the complex team, so all these really bad players are stockpiled there. It's going to be a really long season there, especially after Ellwanger and Quick (and catcher Jimenez) get promoted. and what, what, what happened to Dameury Pena? He profiled so well, I thought, but he must not be able to hit heat.
  5. I've used this line many times since it was used on me decades ago, and now in response to Caratini not being a fit on the Twins roster: "How could it possibly matter?"
  6. If this is the type of guy we go after, I'm afraid it might lead to a losing season. Seriously, all the bullpen moves are clearly designed to minimize embarrassment. Which means there's a substantial amount of embarrassment at play here.
  7. You only get to spend big if you don't use the full amount on a player that doesn't rate at the 3rd pick. If Cholowsky or Grady Emerson falls to them, they better not be messing around, because paying all that money to one of them is the way you win. It's not by taking the 8th and 30th best players with that same money.
  8. I've owned him the last few years in various leagues but I couldn't justify keeping him, and yet he was popular enough I couldn't draft him back this year. That's okay, the guys I have are better. The only Twins I care to have at all are Jenkins and Keaschall, and that's throughout the system. Strike that. Zebby is also going to be real good if the Twins don't screw him up.
  9. Pratt is crap, and Boras knows it. He'll be a poor hitter and could be out of baseball by the end that contract. Boras isn't going to do anything that doesn't allow his client to get max value. Can we stop fooling ourselves on this subject? You get in bed with the devil, you better be prepared for the consequences.
  10. What Kool-aid are you drinking that you think the Twins don't deserve to be that far at the bottom of the list? The only reason they won't finish 30th is because it's difficult to say anyone will finish 30th, But they stand a really good chance. The best chance, imo.
  11. Far too early in some respects, but swing speed is can be zeroed in on early. The problem is that his greater speed appears to be due to swinging harder. We can all increase our swing speed by swinging harder. That comes at a cost. Both squared up pct and sweet spot pct are down. Also, his swing speed is 25th percentile, admittedly up from near bottom last year. So I wouldn't call it adapting as much as I'd call it sacrificing, and we have yet to see whether it's a good thing or bad thing. All we know is he's swing harder, and it makes sense that will come at a cost.
  12. Re: ABS I've mentioned this somewhere, maybe here, more as an example of how the Twins are playing a different game than the good teams. The rule, as far as I know, is that you have to indicate within five seconds that you are making a challenge and (I thought) can receive no external help. In the last spring training game, I noticed what I suspected. On a very close one on edge of strike zone, Ryan Jeffers immediately tapped his head. He was obviously on his own, and he was rewarded as it showed maybe one centimeter of the ball hit the zone. On the other hand, on a low ball thrown to Boston catcher Carlos Narvaez, his head went directly to the Bosox dugout, stared for a second or two, then patted his helmet. The difference in how the two teams handled it was striking. Twins, as usual, stupidly playing by the rules and preparing to pay for it (Carlos Correa's and Marwin Gonzalez' downturns are no coincidence). Meanwhile the Red Sox just cheat like all the other top clubs do and like they all are allowed to get away with, at least until they're ratted out by a player who ends up ostracized. I'm not sure whether I'm more mad at MLB or the Twins.
  13. LOL at positive mentions of Emmanuel Rodriguez and Marek Houston.
  14. This can lead to something really dangerous. The Twins, to stop the bleeding, could take a starting pitcher with real starting abilities (who might be struggling this moment) and put him in the bullpen. If successful, they've just bullpened a real starting pitcher. If Zebby is put in the bullpen, then you truly know the Twins have no idea what they're doing.
  15. They're all non-prospects. Fedko is the best, and he also maybe could fill in for Martin for a while. If the Twins can trade Jackson, that opens up a 40 spot.
  16. Kreidler: Newsflash: when you can't hit at all, it doesn't matter what side you bat from.
  17. I really like Keaschall, but there's really no more opposite a player than Bobby Witt. Everything Keaschall is good at, Witt is average or bad at. Everything else Witt is great at and Keaschall is bad at. Take a look at their Baseball Savant pages. Plus, Witt is a fantastic shortstop, while Keaschall. thus far, is bad in the field. The only thing they have somewhat in common is their running...Keaschall very good, Witt the best.
  18. You hit the highlights. I would trade this guy so fast if there were a decent market. He will likely hit a little when he gets up, but once pitchers know what to throw him, he won't be batting .250.
  19. I think we live in different worlds. Foremost, I sincerely doubt Joe Ryan wants to be a Twin for any longer than he has to. Second, do you think he'll accept beads and trinkets?
  20. In conference last year, Lebron posted an OPS < .700 and struck out 32% of the time. In no way is he justifiable anywhere near the Twins pick. In any round. BA acknowledges he can't hit and gives him to the Twins anyway. That's disrespect. You know how I was saying Kyle DeBarge was a huge mistake for the Twins when they took him? The scout on him also said he put up all his college numbers versus bad pitching, and that's exactly what Lebron has done. But that K rate takes away all hope that there was luck involved. It would be a horrible choice.
