  1. Well if that base-bounce doesn't tell you what kind of night it's been for Gibson.... A bobbled double-play ball, a dropped tag by the catcher, and a freak bounce off of a base are the difference between 6 runs after 5, and getting through 5 shutout inning with about 50 pitches. He's made some bad pitches, for sure, that have compounded the issue. He's not blameless. But, he hasn't pitched nearly as bad assome like to make it sound.
  2. When you have to throw 30 pitches in an inning because the defense gives them 5 outs, you're going to make a mistake eventually. I don't care if you're Kyle Gibson or Bob Gibson.
  3. Gibson probably wondering if he can bring Rochester's defense up with him for the next start.
  4. 20 years? So you don't even know that there were once good times. That's rough. You could take Gibson's name out of that sentence and insert just about any Twins starting pitcher since Johan left a decade ago.
  5. Another day, another runner left in scoring position with nobody out. Very generous strike one. There is that excuse.
  6. Nice to have a guy like Granite back and playing well. I have a feeling he'll come in handy at some point. Nick Gordon is having a heck of year. Especially when you consider he's about 3 years younger than the average for that level. Anyone have an idea of how he's been defensively?
  7. I'd really like to see Burdi get the call soon. A bullpen of Belisle and Duffey, into Burdi and Pressly, with Kintzler closing games out is a pretty nice looking pen. All RH, but there Breslow should be able to handle a LOOGY role for a while. Now, if they could only get a competent starter to throw into the rotation with Santana and Berrios, things would really be looking up, in comparison to last year at this time.
  8. Polanco almost hit too hard, there. I would've had Kepler bunt there, myself. But, it worked out just the same. That was a nice win. Good rebound after quite a few mistakes costing them good scoring opportunities early. Hopefully this sparks another hot streak. I feel great for Vargas. A moment like that after his rollercoaster career to this point has to feel great.
  9. The dreaded runner on second and nobody out for the Twins. Game, Royals.
  10. This team is embarrassing in these situations. Any team that is remotely competent has this a tie game right now, at least, going back and looking at the chances they've urinated down their leg tonight.
  11. Chances of them getting Grossman in from second with nobody down is close to zero.
  12. He says 3-4 things per game that are outrageous. That said, his last few outings have been pretty damn impressive.
  13. Oh look, it's the Twins' third best starter coming out of the 'pen in the 6th in inning.
  14. That might be the luckiest catch I've ever seen a major league ball player make. He even reacted like he was shocked he caught it.
  15. That might be a home run last weekend when it was 85 degrees and humid.
  16. That does seem rather high. There must be a bunch of singles that advance the runner to third, but not home, inflating that number. Seems like every game they leave 1-2 guys in scoring position with nobody out.
  17. Well now Glenn's decision looks even worse after that....
  18. I'll give you that....they are terrible with RISP and less than two out.
  19. Especially when that runner is thrown out after a bad relay throw, and a bad throw home. Two good throws and the catcher has time to check his watch before the tag.
  20. That decision by Glenn is going to cost them a run, or more. Maybe the game.
  21. Bad decision by Gene. Don't agree with Torii that it was a good move.
  22. Yeah, that tax situation in South Dakota....the government is still getting theirs. Throw whatever title you'd like in front of the word tax...you're still paying it in some way, shape, or form at the end of the day. Now, from this second forward, I want to think about nothing work related until 6 am Monday. All I want is another division series win. These bats need to break out tonight. I feel like Dozier is due for a leadoff home run.
  23. During the game, in the game thread, I made a statement that I though I'd get pounded for: I said that was seeing a lot of similarities between how Berrios was pitching in that particular start, and the late Jose Fernandez. Low and behold, after the game, Ian Desmond corroborated it by saying the exact same thing. Of course, things could go downhill in a hurry. But, considering Fernandez was unhittable, and maybe the best pitcher in the game, while at his best....that's extremely exciting. Berrios might just save a pitching staff that is in free fall. My only concern is how many games were sacrificed by leaving him in the minors too long.
