  1. The Minnesota Twins were inactive in the Major League phase of today's Rule 5 Draft, but added four new players to the system in the minor league phase. They selected left-handed starting pitcher Rafael Marcano, catcher Rafael Escalante, utility guy Angel Del Rosario and right-handed reliever Sheldon Reed. Here is some info and highlights on the new additions.
  2. The Minnesota Twins have had quite a few late-round pitchers emerge in 2023, but there's one I feel is flying way under the radar. Pierson Ohl, drafted in the 14th round back in 2021, added a ton of velo this past season to go along with his always impressive control. The end result was one of the better performances not just in the Twins system, but across the entire Double-A level. Here are some highlights and a look at some of Ohl's numbers.

  4. Let's talk trades! An idea I submitted for Twins Daily's Offseason Handbook was acquiring Mitch Keller of the Pirates for a package of Matt Wallner and David Festa. Here's a discussion on why I like Keller as a trade target, whether this offer would be likely to get him on the Twins and a look at another similar trade idea offered by another Twins Daily contributor.

  6. Friday night was the non-tender deadline and the Minnesota Twins made a couple of moves that surprised me. With news of the payroll being scaled back some, I figured Kyle Farmer was as good as gone either by trade or non-tender. Nope, he's still around. Another surprise was that Jovani Moran needs Tommy John surgery and so the Twins decided to remove him (and Ronny Henriquez) off the 40-man roster. Here is my reaction to these moves. View full video

  8. Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported that people around the industry believe there’s a very strong chance the Minnesota Twins will trade Jorge Polanco. I discussed what I would target in a trade for Polanco, his trade value and some considerations that might make him more attractive on the market. This is going to be a very interesting offseason.

  10. Minnesota Twins prospect Austin Martin is expected to be added to the 40-man roster early next week, which will put him in a great place to potentially make his Major League debut at some point in 2024. Once ranked the No. 22 prospect in all of baseball by MLB Pipeline, they've soured so much on his stock that he's only their No. 20 prospect just in the Twins system. Here is some video of Martin from his time in St. Paul this season and a discussion on why I still like his game. He's my No. 4 Twins prospect, behind only Walker Jenkins, Brooks Lee and Emmanuel Rodriguez.

  12. The Minnesota Twins are reducing their payroll in 2024, but with several contracts coming off the books this offseason, they still have some room to make additions this offseason. Here's a breakdown of what the budget looks like based off the reported payroll target.

  14. Derek Falvey discussed the Twins 2024 payroll expectations with reports at the GM meetings in Arizona. He didn't paint a pretty picture, and Dan Hayes of The Athletic reported that team sources suggested it could be in the $125 million to $140 million range. Here are my thoughts on that.

  16. Here's a roundup of a bunch of Minnesota Twins news items and topics, starting with Kala'i Rosario's performance in the Arizona Fall League. Also discussed is the Twins being shut out of the Silver Slugger nominations, how the Twins fared against the LCS teams this year, an interesting look into minor league statcast data by Baseball America and which of MLB's top-25 free agents they see as potential targets for the Twins. 18. We're officially in the MLB offseason (congrats Rangers, btw). Here is a discussion on the current state of the Minnesota Twins 40-man roster and some decisions facing the front office. It's a good situation to be in, but it appears the Twins are in a bit of a roster crunch.

  20. Longtime Minnesota Twins broadcaster Dick Bremer has announced his retirement. The TV voice of the Twins for 40 years, Bremer established himself as part of the Twins identity over the years. Here's a left-handed toast to Mr. Bremer on an outstanding career and my reaction to the news.
