  1. I still waffle back and forth on this. I think his inconsistent playing time in the bigs hurts him, but at the same time he doesn't push to stay in the bigs while he's in the minors either. While I haven't been thrilled with how he's been handled in his career, I'm not sure that he's done enough to warrant a larger role on the big league club.
  2. I like the burned up pitcher aspect, but I think the other reason could be accomplished by giving the division champ more home games.
  3. Also, instead of worrying about a 163 they simply created one every year. Either way, it's the same principal just a different angle.
  4. Couldn't agree more. I feel the exact same way.
  5. So the timing of the added game just happened to coincide with a run of 163s? Either way though, they're following the money.
  6. It's either neither or both. They weren't as bad as their record indicated last season, and they not as good as their record would indicate this season or '15 for that matter.
  7. They already said "we need to get the WS out of November" in one breathe and then added another game to the playoffs on the next one.
  8. I think they're going to follow the money. They saw what sort of hysteria ensued with the game 163s and decided to run with it and make it an annual thing and apart of the playoffs.
  9. That's what I fear most. I worry that Pandora's box has been opened and they'll just let more teams in.
  10. I can like some of it's benefits and still dislike the concept.
  11. My bad, I had the splits backwards... I would still like to see Garver play more, but this does make more sense.
  12. Gotta love Adrianza in LF instead of Garver...smh
  13. I'm sure it was. Figures were inflated last year as well, it's common practice. I was merely commenting on the impact of revenue sources other than ticket sales.
  14. I'd be curious to know the actual attendance versus tickets sold. Having been to about 20 games this season, the announced attendance is generally around 25k but there is more likely only about 15k actually there. That plays into this as well with reduced concession stand revenue. I've been to a couple of games where they've only opened about half of the concession stands on the main concourse and probably a lesser percentage of the mobile cart stands. Recent attendance has been better however but still below what the announced attendance is. Ticket prices have remained fairly constant through the losing years, but the concession prices have gone up by maybe 25% if I were to guess.
  15. I agree completely. I'm more concerned with the corner not occupied by Sano than I am Dozier. I think Dozier is more expendable than at least three of the players you mentioned. The FO should focus on keeping the young core together more than extending a 30 year old 2B, IMHO. The core is what is going to keep this team competitive longer, not Dozier.
  16. I'm in no rush to extend him. I'd still prefer to go with youth when his contract expires - assuming he's not dealt. I'm not convinced that he'd be very good defensively at a corner infield spot, though I don't think he'd be brutal. That being said, if they end up dealing Gordon for pitching, this team could probably do worse than extending Dozier a year or two. Beyond that, I'm not interested at all.
  17. A distinction without a difference. Pressly made it into the game later, so the options were available.
  18. So, if you combined a hoe and an ax, why would it not then be called a hoax?
  19. Correct. Molitor is carrying a three man bench so that he can employ more pitchers. If he's not going to use those extra pitchers, he should at least have a longer bench should he not? Since Pressly came in later in the game, lack of options doesn't seem to be the issue.
  20. I'd be finding a new manager if my manager considered a two run deficit in the home half of the 7th low leverage.
  21. Not sure that I necessarily need to wait until the end of the season to see him go.
  22. That may be the case, but it seems like they rushed him. I'm not sure that is fair to the team or the player. Either way, he's not been healthy for a number of years so the proper approach in my view would be to plan that he's not a viable option and then hope that he is. I can't imagine they pick up his option regardless though, so this might all be a moot point.
  23. "Now he’s saying that 3 out of 2 people don’t understand logic." I had a college professor that stated on a couple of occasions that 2 does not equal 3 even for large values of 2. So by those standards, this may be more logical than we give RB cred it for.
  24. Throw some good BBQ sauce on it and it'll taste just like one of my father-in-laws grilled meats!
