  1. Molitor about 3 batters too slow in getting someone up in the pen.
  2. I think you might be reading a bit too much into the "next season" comment. I read his statement to say that he doesn't want to make things worse or aggravate his current condition which would force him to miss the rest of the season and potentially be behind next season. To me, he's concerned about coming back too soon and making things worse which would then bring into question his availability coming into next season. Though, I do agree that that concern does seem to put in doubt his ability to get back this season. His comments don't sound like a guy that's close to returning to the field to me.
  3. You might be right that he'd be one of those guys that have the approval of the manager to bunt, but then it's on the manager there to tell him to swing away.
  4. Rosario still drives me nuts with some bonehead base running and defensive decisions, but I've got to hand it to him when it comes to his at bats. He's impressed me in that area this season. Hopefully he keeps that up and he'll have a very nice career.
  5. While I didn't foresee the implosion that occurred coming, I didn't figure they'd repeat or improve upon what they did in 2015. Next season, if they don't improve upon this season I will be very disappointed. That's why I don't expect to see a repeat of last offseason. Something is wrong if they don't find a way to build off of what they've done this season.
  6. Agreed. There's still a ways to go, but things are trending in the right direction. That's not something I was sure I'd be saying at the beginning of the year after the offseason this team had.
  7. The difference to me is that 2015 was largely done using past their prime veterans that this team signed to tread water. This year is mostly driven by a young and developing core.
  8. We'll, thats negative! But I agree.
  9. Agreed. I don't really care how the season plays out, I'm going to enjoy the ride either way.
  10. I was so hoping that was going to be the TK statue. Very disappointed.
  11. As much as I disliked the move, it's worked out pretty well for the team. Can't complain much about that.
  12. Good thing they have an off day tomorrow. The bullpen is gonna need it.
  13. The gaps are getting worn out.
  14. My in-laws live just north of Tampa, so I know what you're saying. We're checking on them on a daily basis right now. Baseball is the last thing on their minds.
  15. My in-laws live in the Tampa area, so I've been there many times. The Trop made the Dome look like a decent spot to watch a game. The area around is developing more, but it's still pretty barren. Getting their sucks. Getting out of their sucks. As bad as the atmosphere is for fans, I can't imagine playing there. I legitimately feel bad for the players. All that said, when they're playing the Yankees or Red Sox it's a tolerable atmosphere. They fill the place up more so it actually feels like a ball game. It's just full of Yankees or Red Sox fans unfortunately.
  16. I realize that. Yesterday's game set a new lowest attendance mark at the Trop and today was only slightly better that yesterday. Floridians really don't go watch baseball. Those that do usually have allegiances from where they moved from. My point was that even for the Rays, these two games in particular saw record low attendance. That's almost certainly because people have higher priorities at the moment. That's all I was saying, not some general defense or excuse for their poor attendance figures year in and year out.
  17. While I agree with the sentiment and I know their attendance sucks, the residents of Florida have something a bit more important to worry about at the moment.
  18. Whaddya think of your genius manager now?!
  19. Ha! I stand by my critiques despite having the benefit of hindsight against me!
  20. It has and I agree that that is probably Molitor's approach. It's just a bit jarring that in the heat of a playoff chase we're seeing an infielder in LF (again) and a guy making his second MLB start (I believe) in RF. All of that behind a guy making his 2nd MLB start at pitcher in a game where they're trying to avoid being swept by a team chasing them. I understand the why and follow the logic. I'm just a bit concerned that the strength of the squad has been gutted in the process, that is all. I think I'd feel more "comfortable" with Grossman in LF, Adrianza at 3B and Escobar DH'ing.
  21. Or Molitor's recent insistence on playing Adrianza in the outfield when Granite is on the roster. They are in a playoff chase and not really crunched for outfielders on the active roster if you include Grossman.
  22. Diehard should say hi to us game threaders tonight. I'm genuinely curious to see if we can hear him on the TV or radio broadcast.
  23. Perhaps the team noticed the article about twins games being 5 minutes longer on average than the MLB average and are trying to rectify that?
