  1. Ha! That'd be cool if he actually had the sense of humor to actually do it.
  2. I was thinking about that too. Does anyone know how the Byrnes experiment set the boundaries? Did that have to be set manually? And does anyone know how statcast or other similar automated zone systems set their boundaries?
  3. Hide the women and children!
  4. That's right! I forgot about that...I started but haven't had a chance to read it all yet.
  5. I'd really like to know what players think of this. Obviously the ones on TV or radio or whatever have the platform, but do they actually represent the majority? I'd be interested in knowing what that split would really be. It would be fascinating to know opinions even between pitchers, catchers and position players. Even generations of players could be an interesting study. I know plenty of players talk about adjusting to the zone, but not all of them talk about it in a negative context. I do wonder how many don't necessarily mind that aspect.
  6. Really? Nothing here seems to hint at invalidating one's opinion that doesn't fit your own? It's productive discussion promoting a civil conversation? Intent or not, that's not how it came across. These are just from this page of the thread. I'm with spycake on this one. I mentioned several times in my responses that I was only providing my opinion and not arguing or trying to convince anyone of anything. I felt that I HAD to say it, repeatedly, because responses I was getting were going beyond what I considered civil debate. And then when that got thrown back in my face, I backed out of the thread entirely because it was clear that my opinion and how I enjoyed the game was simply going to get ridiculed because others couldn't accept it. Frankly, I think it killed an otherwise good discussion on a pretty good topic. I also mentioned, repeatedly, in my responses that I understand what the opposing opinion is and I was completely fine with the stance. It makes sense to me. I just happen to have a differing opinion. I don't take any of this personally, but it's not something I enjoy partaking in either. I come here to discuss baseball and the Twins, not get backed into a corner because someone else can't accept another person's opinion. I don't need an apology, only that my opinion be accepted and respected as I respect and accept anyone else's opinion. With that out of the way, I'd love to continue to talk about baseball!
  7. Me too! I know that I can save my money upfront instead of wishing I had after the fact.
  8. I'm as irritated as anyone about the bullpen, but I've got mad respect for a threat like that!
  9. Seems like that's a better way to go than Cholera...just sayin'!
  10. It's so that she can laugh at you. At least that's why my wife makes the same request.
  11. That sounded like he pounded that on the radio.
  12. Parts of this game thread could be converted into a TwinsDaily dating advice column.
  13. Plus it's really good and very easy to pair with wine! Nice call!
  14. That's good. Encouraging even! One advantage that you now have is that you've sent expectations low. The first date with my now wife was at Applebee's. My brother took his first date to some fancy steakhouse. I told him that was a rookie mistake!
  15. Buxton is fast. Breaking news, I know.
  16. always a good sign when the first thing you hear after flipping on the radio is "and the Jays lead 1-0"...
  17. Sort of. I had multiple holiday dinners (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc) in a row where the main course was not necessarily ruined, but shall we say didn't turn out as intended because of completely random occurrences. The "best" instance was a Thanksgiving where I tossed a turkey on my grill rotisserie. The rotisserie rod was a threaded two piece bit. About halfway through spinning, the rod snapped and the bird fell into the drip pan full of quartered baby red potatoes. No idea how long it was like that, but that side of the bird was pretty well done. The potatoes ended up with plenty of grease though, so there was that. That Christmas was less random but "entertaining" nonetheless. I was grilling a beef tenderloin with a mushroom bordelaise sauce. I was using dehydrated mushrooms, but neglected to rehydrate them before putting them in the sauce. The sauce ended up being extra thick. It was still really good, just "a bit" more concentrated than it should have been. I actually wrote a note on the recipe reminding myself to rehydrate the mushrooms. The following Easter I was plank grilling some fish. It was raining pretty good at the time, so I had a family member come out with me with an umbrella. Just as I pulled the fish off the grill, the rain picked up and a massive wind gust blew the umbrella out of my family members hand, hitting me in the head, causing me to drop the fish on the ground. For the next Thanksgiving dinner, I apparently had learned nothing and tried to rotisserie the bird again. This time the motor on my rotisserie died at some point - again cooking the one side of the bird more than the other. I haven't had any issues since (knock on wood), but I kind of know what you feel like. At least in my case, it makes for some good stories.
  18. I don't think it's a case of too much time on your hands as much as it is that you're just procrastinating so that you don't have to do the floors. I commend you for establishing a worthy cause for your procrastination!
  19. Good to see a solid all around game from the squad. My hope is that once they get on a more regular schedule and Rocco settles in to his new role that the team stabilizes. While the bullpen still scares the hell out of me (in a bad way), I'm hoping that there is some organic improvement once Rocco knows what he's got and where they excel. Even then though, I foresee plenty more of what's played out over the last couple of games.
  20. "What this bullpen needs is more Tyler Duffer!" Is that more appropriate?
  21. "What a solid, dependable and shutdown bullpen!"
  22. I'm not sure I can be sarcastic about the bullpen. I don't think it's funny at all!
  23. It's almost like that is why he was signed!
