  1. I wonder how much the off year for the minor leaguers is impacting keeping Shoemaker around. Is the organization trying to determine where any potential in-house fill ins are as they come back? There's not been a lot of roster shuffling aside from for injuries. Kinda makes you wonder. The pitching staff has been mostly healthy, so they can't use that as an excuse to jettison a healthy player that's clearly not up to the task.
  2. I'd be in on Duran after he gets back up to speed. I'm not convinced anyone else is ready quite yet. Which is why Shoemaker and Happ are still around. They're buying time. They won't be around all that much longer. Beyond that, throwing guys out there just to throw someone different out there doesn't really make a lot of sense. At least have a productive purpose.
  3. Who do you replace him in the rotation with? He's not pitched well, but what other options do they have?
  4. I get the why, but I try to stay numb about it because I can't get past how pathetic the lineup is with him there.
  5. I like the thread opener theme. Superstition. Generally speaking, I think superstition is ridiculous. Generally speaking regarding sports, I live by it. I'll grasp onto anything. My latest example is yellow golf balls. They flew straighter at the time, so that's all I'm playing right now. You'll never convince me that the color is irrelevant.
  6. I'd say no. I'd think they'd be able to find a better deal elsewhere, but I'm purely guessing. That said, I wouldn't expect a huge return on a Donaldson trade given his salary, age and injury history. Which is why I wasn't overly thrilled about the deal in the first place.
  7. Every other team in baseball also played 2020 under the same circumstances. Same with 2019. The division titles are legitimate whether you like it or not. And that's what'll keep Rocco and the FO in their positions. You can't ignore two seasons worth of results and look at two months as the rule, even if the good results were flawed. They were still the results despite the flaws. This is coming from a guy that takes nothing out of the 2020 season, couldn't care less about division titles, has his quibbles with Rocco and the FO, and has been on the record as saying that the 2019 team was flawed and wouldn't stack up well in the playoffs in 2019 or 2020. The Polhad's have shown patience throughout the years, so there's nothing to suggest that they'd suddenly become knee-jerk reactors based on two months. The playoff loses should come into play, but Rocco has only been here for 4 of them and the FO 5. Yes, they need to do better. And they're likely to get that opportunity because they're coming off of back to back division titles.
  8. Buxton is the only legitimate option, in my view. But he looks like he may not be healthy enough to play. Berrios is probably next up. It'll probably depend more on the composition of the rest of the roster that'll determine who gets selected from this squad.
  9. Agreed. It's also the CF's prerogative to take control in those situations. I'm sure that the two aren't that familiar with each other, but it would seem that they weren't communicating well enough.
  10. There's nothing worse than when a newcomer destroys the team chemistry.
  11. You can tell all of that after 2 games? He's not played well, I don't disagree, but this seems like a bit of a leap at this juncture. He's only here because of injuries. Somebody has to play CF.
  12. You can't get through this that easily! You...you must suffer along with the rest of us!
  13. Good move by the insurance company. Good to see one treat their customers well for a change!
  14. This is more up my alley. Though, I do love me some Doritos. And yes, I did stop and get more Scotch. Thanks again, Nine!
  15. There might be other ways to loosen him up, but to each their own...
  16. Nothing annoys me more than scoring a run and then immediately giving it right back.
  17. Which is more disappointing? The Twins play or the fact that you expended any effort to get to the other end of the couch to get the remote in order to watch it?
  18. I can only laugh at this point. The lunacy never ends.
