  1. I just found a story that looks like what you are talking about -- here is the link. This makes me want a different manager.
  2. Roll call. Is anyone else watching the game now? I am having to endure the Mariners announcers.
  3. Good thread, Mr. Lounge. I would keep both of them for now, unless and until there is a very favorable trade offer. Keeping Morneau and trading Parmelee will be regrettable if Morneau gets injured. Keeping Parmelee and trading Morneau will be regrettable if Parmelee can't cut it in the majors. Trading either of them does not make sense to me unless the bounty is substantial enough to offset these risks.
  4. I agree. It is unclear to me who are the clubhouse leaders, or even if there are any. I also endorse the Derek Jeter custom of giving memorabilia to his one night stands -- that one cracked me up. But I would suggest that the married players just give jewelry.
  5. Why take any risk at all at this point? These games don't matter enough to take any chance of further injury. On the other hand, I would DL Span and bring up Parmelee, then use Parmelee to give additional rest to Morneau, Mauer and Willingham. We want these players to be at their best next year. Helluva a throw by Carson to get that guy at third.
  6. This is interesting. Thanks for posting it.
  7. Vasquez pitched 7 innings for Rochester tonight, gave up 4 hits and no runs. He also struck out 10. Here is a link to Vasquez's stats. Why not let Duensing skip a start and bring up Vasquez to see what he can do? And if Vasquez does not do well, then why not give Hendriks another chance?
  8. His OPS of .775 is the 6th best on the team, as you can see &tab_level=child&click_text=Sortable+Player+hitting&sectionType=sp&statType=hitting&page=1&ts=1345091967716&sortColumn=ops&sortOrder=%27desc%27&extended=0"]here.
  9. This is a good analysis, but I am with those who would like to see Mastro be given a chance at 2B to see how he does there.
  10. Interesting article! I think that sending him down and giving Florimon a chance makes a lot of sense. Dozier might be able to better relax and improve his game at AAA, and I look forward to seeing Florimon's defense.
  11. Excellent roundup. Thanks for your hard work.
  12. Or....you could join the sane opinion and hate both! I don't see why people think this has to be an either/or thing. Far too many people I deal with are binary in their thinking. Many of the posts on this forum sound that way.. Yes you do have a sane opinion. Amen to that.
  13. For the love of God, someone please move this thread out of the Twins baseball section.
  14. Excellent article and I agree that it would be good to let them play a lot in September. I also see no reason why the existing outfielders need to play very much in September. Why risk one of them getting injured?
  15. This is very interesting and looks like it took a lot of work. I am glad to see that your top 6 are pitchers. The Twins could use some good ones.
  16. As usual, it seems to me that Brian's idea is an excellent one.
  17. I think that you have both made valid points. Personally, I don't know whether Thrylos was being serious or sarcastic. But I wish that Thrylos had posted it in a different section of the forum where people post other political stuff, like the Paul Ryan thread. And I still think that it might make sense to move such thread, because it seems tangential to discussing the ball club and because it has engendered a non-baseball vibe that distracts somewhat from what most of us are here for -- baseball analysis and discussion. That said, I enjoy the posts of both John and Dave and my life will be a little less fun if either of them stops posting on TD. Hopefully we can all learn from this and move on as brothers who share a common obsession, the Twins.
  18. Good roundup. Thanks for doing this.
  19. With all due respect, a 35% tax rate is not soaking the rich. If you look at historical income tax rates, you will see that the current rates on top earners are relatively low. I agree with you that raising taxes will be only part of the solution. On the other hand, would you rather see some high earner pay a 50% marginal rate on income over $1 million than see a poor child die because of Medicaid cuts. I wonder what Jesus would say? If only the two sides could compromise. The Republicans could agree to cut corporate welfare (especially weapons procurement and oil company subsidies), the Democrats could agree to cut social programs and both parties could agree to relatively modest tax increases. But this is impossible because some bonehead sleazeball named Grover Norquist has persuaded too many Republicans to sign his pledge never to increase taxes. And even if Jesus sent a meteor down to send Norquist to hell, the special interests who own both parties would never let Congress do the things that would truly bail us out.
  20. I like Hendriks, but think that he needs a better out pitch. When Hendriks pitched in Anaheim earlier this year, the Angels kept fouling the ball off until they could make good contact, and it seemed like Hendriks had good control but below average stuff. I wish that Hendriks could trade 25% of his control for 25% of Deduno's natural curveball. If this were possible, they could compete for a Cy Young award. Maybe they should be required to become roommates.
  21. I wish that someone would move this thread to some more appropriate section of the website.
  22. As I said in a game thread a couple starts ago, he's not your typical no-stuff, "control-type" Twins pitcher. I still don't trust him as far as I could throw him, and don't want any part of having him be one of the Twins first five starters in 2013, but he's tantalizing, frustrating, and fun to watch all at the same time. Well said, but a little pessimistic. I am hoping that he can win 15 games next year for the Twins.
  23. I was trusting you on this, old friend.
