    I am hopeful that there are at least a couple of prospects who are not high on anyone's list who will surprise us.

    I am hopeful that Diamond might still improve. His control last year was excellent, and if he can continue to deliver the ball to the low corners of the strike zone, then he might be able to channel Greg Maddux.

    I like your optimism and will be rooting for this to work. I would also not mind if the Twins were to trade for a SS who can both field well and hit well, or maybe sign free agent Alex Gonzalez.

    According to Bleacher Report, the best remaining free agent shortstops are Alex Gonzalez, Ronny Cedeno and Jason Bartlett. Gonzalez sounds risky, but with a high upside. Are any of these guys worth pursuing?

    I agree. The natural movement on his pitches would be hard on hitters if he could throw more strikes.

    I think that is a good point. I would add that if Marcum is decent, then he might be tradable for a pitching prospect or two around the trade deadline.

    I would think that someone may pay him more than $1 million. I think he got $4.5 million last year and over $7 million in 2011. I have no idea what he will get, but if he can be had for $1 million, that seems reasonable to me.

    Yes, but hopefully with more men on base. It seems to me that if he increases his extra base hits, it might make more sense for him to bat #3.

    You have a point. The weather here is exceptional. But there are few opportunities to see the Twins in person, and I am not having a lot of luck lobbying she who must be obeyed to take a trip to Minnesota.

    I have always been a shotgun guy. But it seems to me that an AR-15 would be more maneuverable in close quarters than a hunting rifle.

    I would vote for this as well. More ABs for Mauer would be a good thing, unless Mauer starts showing more power.

Please note that after you type a post, if you see any words that have a red squiggly line under them, such words are generally misspelled -- one exception would be a name that the software does not recognize. If you try to correct the spelling mistakes (using this tool) your posts will be easier to follow. That said, I am glad that we have brother fans in Mexico.

    I agree with you that the focus should be building for the future, so why not give these players a change to prove themselves? On the other hand, if one of them falters, why not give Escobar a chance?
