  1. This is an immensely entertaining post. If half of it comes true, then you are prescient. I just hope that it's the good half that comes true. In particular, I am praying for good performances from Plouffe, Deduno, Parmelee and Dozier.
  2. I am missing the like button as well my friend.
  3. This is hilarious -- thanks for making me smile.
  4. With his speed and arm, maybe Sano should end up in right field?
  5. I loved watching him play, and if Philly does not work out, I would love to see him come back.
  6. This is definitely a good use of 5 minutes!
  7. You make a very interesting point about Sano. I wish that the "like" buttons were working today.
  8. Your points all seem valid to me, my friend. It seems to me that the objections relate mainly to the tone of the original post and to the idea that the timing would be bad if they were fired now, at the outset of spring training. As for whether they should be fired at a more opportune time, I expect that there will be a lot of debate as the season progresses and that you will, as always, make arguments that are thought provoking.
  9. First, I want to welcome you to Twins Daily. We love fans who are passionate, so you should be able to fit in here. Please note, however, that everyone benefits when we make an effort keep the tone at a moderate level. Here is an example of how you might have made your point without causing an uproar: "I don't understand why the Twins don't fire Gardenhire and Ryan now, and bring in Molitor to put the team on the right track. We needed pitching and Ryan did not provide the level of pitchers that would make the Twins competitive. Another 100 losses seems possible this year. Why are the Twins keeping these guys?" The substance of your post could be basically the same, but you would be inviting discussion and debate instead of creating the impression that you are inviting argument or just venting your anger. Again, welcome to TD, and please give some thought to how much more respect you will receive if you make the effort to say things in a way that invites debate, not argument.
  10. I am going to assume that Luke's post was a good-hearted attempt at humor, and would note that it appears that someone (perhaps another moderator) has already deleted Luke's post (although it has been quoted by others). Please let's all be sensitive to the fact that comments relating to race, gender and sexual identity can be offensive, even when there is no pejorative intent. TD encourages humor and attempts at humor, but please be thoughtful about how something might be interpreted by someone who does not know the author.
  11. I would not be surprised if Gardenhire is OK with leaving or taking a different role, like Kelly did. Three horrible seasons in a row must be painful for him, and he might even be glad to get a fresh start elsewhere. It seems noteworthy that his contract expires at the end of this year. And sometimes it just makes sense to get a new manager.
  12. I think that you have done a great job summarizing this thread.
  13. Jack, you are an exemplary member, I value your opinion and agree that we don;t want this to be like Romper Room. Please note that we are trying to maintain a balance here where we can foster passionate debate while minimizing personal attacks and feuding. My post was intended to be both proactive and gentle. As a moderator, I have been given powers to assess infractions, to delete posts and to ban people in order to maintain the balance, BUT I never want it to get to any of that. Leviathan and Nick are both great members and I think that we will all benefit if such great members thoughtfully consider the benefits from giving each other just a bit more respect.
  14. Thanks for posting this. Please add me to the list of people who hope that Plouffe can stick at third base.
  15. Could we be a little bit less personal with these comments? Everyone here is entitled to an opinion, and we all share passion for our team. This post is probably not over the line, but I think that we can all benefit form being a bit more respectful.
  16. It will be interesting to see how well he does this year. I share your feeling that it would have been good to keep him, but only time will tell whether he is able to perform post-surgery.
  17. I have received a complaint about this thread and am respectfully asking Leviathan and Nick to be a bit more respectful of each other's positions. You are both making good points and the discussion is worthwhile, but it would be even better if you could tone this down a notch in terms of the personal jibes. Arguably, neither of you has crossed the line yet, but you have both come close, and I am merely asking that you keep your passion while toning down the rhetoric just a little bit. I have great respect for both of you and hope that you are not offended by my request.
  18. This is not a great start for Plouffe, but I am going to remain optimistic that he will have a breakout year. When he is on a hot streak, Plouffe can hit at an elite level. It seems to me that the key will be for him to stay hot for longer periods of time, and stay healthy. Like Liriano, Plouffe has raw talent. I am hoping that this year Plouffe will finally become consistent. It could happen.
  19. Great post Jeremy, and great follow ups.
  20. Please my brothers. You both have valid perspectives about Butera. Let's focus on baseball, not each other.
  21. I agree with your general philosophy, but if the main effect is for the Twins to capture the profits that now go to scalpers, then the new pricing policy makes sense to me.
  22. In the video he seems fairly mature and intelligent. I hope that he gets a chance this year.
  23. I would guess that scalpers who bought season tickets took a loss last season. I would also note that Twins tickets at Target field are a huge bargain compared to what I pay to see the Twins in Anaheim every year. When the Angels are popular, as they are now, getting good seats can cost $200-$300 each on Stubhub.
