  1. There were reports that he signed with the Twins in December, but Reusse has said that is not true. Feb 12th blog from Ruesse: I believe Wolfson has also said it's not true, but it was via Twitter and I can't find the tweet.
  2. Mauer. That's it. I am also part of the group that believes that you either have to be a HOF or have a HOF worthy career in order to have your number retired. It's one of the greatest honors in sports and it shouldn't be just about retiring someone who was good/great as a Twin. To me it's for the elite. I'd only put Mauer on that. His catching career was one of the greatest of all time. I hope he bounces back as a first baseman too, but the catching greatness was good enough for me. Hunter is my favorite Twin ever and Morneau is my 2nd favorite Twin ever, but in no way are they elite players. They can go in the Twins HOF, but no number retirement. That should be for the truly special only.
  3. Mauer and Hughes.
  4. Log in/Log out issues. Takes two times to log in (not a pw issue). It'll let me log in the first time, but as soon as I click an article or anything I'll be logged out again. Also, it's logging me out every 1-2 page reads in a forum. I'll be reading through the posts in the forum and click the next page and be logged out again. I'll log back in. Continue reading and hit the next page and be logged out again. I'm using chrome.
  5. I watch every night as usual. Miss maybe 5-10 a year. It's tough to watch them when they are bad, but I'm still a fan and I still like baseball. Having Dozier, Vargas, Santana, Hughes and Arcia on the team helps. Those players are fun to watch most of the time and hopefully they'll add a pitcher or two to that list.. The only reason I have cable is for the Twins/Wild.
  6. I haven't read through the whole thread so I'm not sure if this has already been brought up. Apologies if it has. TheLeviathan sounded like he may have been talking about the same thing on pg 3, but I'm not sure. Anyway, on the old site there was a link up top when you clicked into "forums" and it would say "see all unread posts since your last visit" or something like that. I used that a ton since I only visit once a week at most. It appears that feature is now gone, unless I'm missing it. It was helpful since whenever I signed in again I had about 6 pages worth of posts to read and it would be all the ones I hadn't read before or it was where I had left off before. Without that feature, it looks like I'm going to have to go into every single forum (twins talk, minor league talk, vikings talk) separately, go back a few pages in each forum and catch up that way for every single forum. Is that right? If the button does not exist anymore, but can be added back, can we get it back? Edit: ah, if I would have just read one more page! Nevermind. I see Brock said it was under the guitar pick and I found it. Sorry about that.
  7. You probably didn't mean this the way I interpreted, but what do Drew, Morales and Cruz have to do with "top-tier" free agents? By that I mean, those guys don't fall into that category at all. Cano smartly turned down the QO. He's a top tier free agent. You wouldn't lump him in the same category with those players...or shouldn't. Top tier guys are not the guys who are having the issues. Those guys get paid no matter what, they're highly sought after. They "deserve" way more term/dollars than the QO provides and they are nearly guaranteed to get that. When I look at Drew, Morales and Cruz...in my opinion they aren't worth 12-15M per at all. One year, 3 years...doesn't matter. I would never want the Twins to pay that much per year on any one of those guys. You can argue that you could overpay on a one year deal and it wouldn't really hurt a team because it's just one year. I'd agree with that, but those players still aren't 12-15M per guys in my opinion and I'd call them overpaid if they got that much. The QO really hurts the middle tier guys who think they are better than they actually are, which all those three guys listed are. That's who is hurting the most. The fact that those three turned it down was completely amazing to me and what happened to them was 100% expected, at least I expected it.
  8. I think the rule is, now, that you have to be removed from it in the offseason. So you can't have a guy on the 60 day in November. I'm not sure if there were any rules like that back then or what the situation was.
  9. Full disclose, I don't read over the MLB rules often, this is just something I have heard repeated about a million times (tv/radio-not just Twins, but other broadcasts). It could still be wrong. I don't think I've ever seen any team 60 day someone without immediately making a move to add someone, so what they have said has always seemed legit. Then again, things get reported wrong and it happens repeatedly until someone says different so I don't know 100% for sure, but it's what I've heard my entire life.
  10. I think I heard him for a few minutes about a week ago. I'm pretty sure he was talking about hot dogs. So that doesn't really help you..
  11. When they 60 day someone they have to make a corresponding move immediately. They can't leave the spot empty, so I'm guessing they don't want to pick the wrong guy to add to the 40 man since so many guys are getting injured. If they pick the wrong guy, then maybe multiple 40 man moves will need to be made instead of just the one. They'll use it when they have to.
  12. 1500 ESPN reported that he slid feet first and they think it was likely injured when he put his arm down to slide it on the dirt as a guide/stopper and re-aggravated it. Sounds like the same way JJ Hardy hurt his wrist in 2010, except Hardy hit a triple. And the first time Buxton hurt it he was playing defense.
  13. Ditto. I tune them out. I don't even have to mute it. At this point, it's mostly the same thing being said over and over every single game. At least it is if it's Dick/Bert. I like TK, but I zone him out quite easily and I can't handle him for more than 1-2 games in a row just because when I do hear him I want to fall asleep. I really haven't noticed Morris at all. Smalley bugs me the most just because of what benchwarmerjim said. It takes him 5000 words to get to the point. If someone keeps talking non-stop, then I notice. Take a breather.
  14. I'd want them to do this: Mauer Santana Dozier Willingham Morales Arcia Escobar Plouffe Suzuki Wouldn't even mind batting Mauer 9th, but I know that would never happen. I just feel he should be in front of Santana and Dozier right now because of the way those two are hitting.
  15. I like Willingham, but with his age and the amount of health issues he has had lately I think giving him a guaranteed 8 would be a waste of money. Plus the fact that he should be a DH, which he doesn't want to be.
  16. Yeah, I hate when they switch. I don't listen to the radio very often because I'm usually watching it on tv but Provus is a nice addition and Gladden is still...Gladden unfortunately.
  17. Agreed, Mike and then Phil Miller over at the Strib are the two best imo.
  18. For 1-2 years before Dozier came up all the talk was that he very likely could not stick at SS, so the fact that he moved to 2B was 100% expected. Here's a link to fangraphs that has 2-3 excerpts mentioning it. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/daily-notes-your-brian-dozier-headquarters/
  19. I read that as "he doesn't stop anymore because there's no Mauer" not that "he was still waiving home no one in CO." Doesn't sound like he ever did it in CO. The paragraph before that was just describing what he had done in MN, not what he still does. Either way, happy to see 33 doing well. Will always be a fan of his and hope he's the starting 1B for the NL at the all star game.
  20. I was thinking about doing this too. Though my profit wouldn't be anywhere near that much.
  21. He's on a strict pitch count. Rotoworld quote:
  22. The difference is that Morneau didn't get his by playing 1B. He got his sliding into 2nd. The symptoms came back by diving for a ball at a later time, but the first concussion that year was one that could happen to anyone. Mauer got his playing his position. He takes tipped baseballs off the head a lot more than he used to. Now you're saying, let's just put him back down there to take more tipped baseballs off the head. Maybe he will be fine, but maybe he won't. I honestly don't know how I feel about where he should play, but the two concussions were caused in two completely different ways and shouldn't be compared. It's not like Morneau is playing 1B and is constantly hit in the face by line drives... Moving Mauer would lessen the possibility as he no longer would be hit in the head a couple of times a game. If you leave him at C, than there is a 100% chance that he will get hit in the head. It's just part of being a catcher.
  23. During Twinsfest, Benson did an interview with 1500, like most of the players do. He was talking about his injuries and said that the microfracture surgery was to a non-weight-bearing part of the knee. He made it sound less serious than the normal microfracture surgery, but I'm sure it's likely difficult either way. I don't know if that's different from those two athletes, but he made a point of mentioning it.
