  1. i agree that those numbers are bad and we'd want and need better than that, but we also have to remember what those numbers would be replacing a big chunk of: https://twitter.com/danhayesmlb/status/965348219105538048 Other WC teams did get better and the Twins do need a number one or two still, but replace those stats from last year with Odorizzi putting up 165 innings of your stats and you've got a big improvement or an improvement at least if the word "big" is too strong. Obviously I want more/better, I was on the sign Darvish train, but this "should" help us not have to rely on the Tepesch and Turley's of the world (I know they are no longer Twins). If the Twins could win 85 with that bad of production for 100+ innings, adding in Odo should be an easy upgrade and help a team win more than 85. That still might not be enough to beat the WC teams though and I acknowledge that. Again, I wanted Darvish.
  2. Speculation that I've seen on twitter is that May will be 60 day DL for Sanchez.
  3. I'm with you on the fact that the Twins could have and should have offered a contract as high as 6/150 and/or added opt outs, but how are you not dead inside? You're a MN sports fan! Why would you allow hope to creep in before actually acquiring the player? This is the first time the Twins have ever gone after a top FA, but I still saw no reason for hope. I thought the Twins had a 15% chance of signing Darvish, even with them calling him a priority and all that. I would have loved if it would have happened. I was all for it, which I guess could be taken as a small bit of hope, but in no way did I ever allow myself to truly believe it could happen/would happen. I think a lot of your wound is self inflicted. Darvish signing with the Cubs is exactly what I thought would happen, so why would I get my hopes up? I was right. It certainly ended up being cheaper than I thought, but nothing else was surprising no matter what the front office said about going after Darvish. I'm completely with you on the fact that the Twins need to sign or trade for better players, particularly pitching. Just don't get your hopes up for it because 99% of the time (or higher) you're only going to hurt yourself.
  4. I think they are thinking time actually spent in MN. They are on the road the rest of the time.
  5. Napoli really wants a contract from the Twins apparently, as he's supposedly trying to recruit Darvish to the Twins
  6. To add, he just said on the radio that the offer is four or five years but he doesn't know for how much.
  7. This tweet is a reply to someone, but it says the Twins have made an offer to Darvish. In a later tweet replying to someone else, he said he doesn't know when the offer was made.
  8. I don't pay for it either but googling for sites like this for the Dodgers says that he's not on BA's list either. Buehler, Verdugo, White and Ruiz are on BA for them. I don't think BP's list has come out yet, unless I'm terrible at locating it. I only can bring up the 2017 list. And no one is talking about it in regards to the Dodgers...at least in the quick search I did.
  9. That may be right but are they going to go on another 20ish game win streak again? I'm thinking not, though they could win a game every other day and still accomplish a similar result in the end..but my point is that I don't think the teams will be 18 games apart next year if the Twins improve the rotation. The Twins and Indians scored the same amount of runs last year but the Indians pitching was obviously way better. The Twins could possibly catch up with an add of Darvish and the improved bullpen. How much we have no idea. The Twins shaved 101 runs off their runs allowed from 2016 to 2017. We know the 2016 team underperformed but to allow 100 fewer runs seems like a big jump (not sure how common it is to make a 100 run jump in a positive way) and was mostly due to defense. They need to shave another 100 to be up there with all the big boys. The Indians young players could improve too, but I feel like adding Darvish plus the improved bullpen gets us closer than 15 out. Especially when they lost Santana, Jackson (good part time player) and Shaw. Those aren't huge losses but it makes a dent. Though I have zero clue if they lost significant time due to injury for any of their players so that would/could easily make up for the player losses from the offseason. And if our guys slump or don't improve on last year that will hurt too. There's a number of factors involved but I could definitely see a scenario where the Twins are within 5-7 games of the Indians. They absolutely need to improve the rotation for that to be possible though.
  10. LoMo is the guy I want too. Austin Jackson was my first choice but he's gone now.
  11. He'll be wearing a Cubs uniform. That's what I've thought for a month now. I'll be happy if I'm wrong and he's a Twin instead.
  12. I would love if it were 6 or 6:30, but I don't know that they'd ever change it because a lot of people work until 5. Rush hour traffic etc.
  13. Yu said on twitter that they did offer something but not those numbers. https://twitter.com/faridyu/status/951954097174966272
  14. He could be serious, but I took it as a joke. I really haven't paid attention to Darvish on twitter before this offseason, but seeing some of the things he tweets in English it appears like he has a decent sense of humor.
  15. Yeah, virtually all the reports on twitter went from "imminent" to "whoops never mind" in quick fashion
  16. Yeah, I figured it wasn't serious. I was still half awake when I read it to begin with so I'm going to say that's why I was so confused.
  17. Okay. That would definitely be nice since P&C report in about a month. Things need to get going already.
  18. I know you're probably being sarcastic, but if that does happen it seems like it would be down to the Cubs vs Twins for Darvish. Obviously a tough opponent to go up against, but I like the possibility of a 50/50 chance unless a mystery team pops in. That's better than my thought all offseason which was only a 15% chance. I'm still not getting my hopes up though.
  19. I personally consider it hardly anything. And most posters said they would do it in a heartbeat which is a sign that you're not losing much. Gordon, the easiest SS to give up in a trade. I like Javier, Lewis (if not an OF) and even Polanco better. Granite is a 4th OF, with a little chance of being slightly better than that. Jay is a RP. I'll take a SP over a RP most of the time, but not all the time. Depends on the two players we're talking. Here, I'd easily do it. So really that trade felt more like Gordon for Cole straight up. Other two are throw ins. Throw ins can turn into something but most of the time they don't. New site or blog, they were still the only ones reporting it, which means it's probably not accurate. Especially because Torres > Gordon, Jay, Granite. Anyone can make up any trade scenario and tweet it. I see Brandon has already covered all this for me.
  20. When did he retire? Last I heard he signed a minor league deal with the Giants in November. Or now I'm thinking you mean luring Pudge out of retirement...which would now involve a trade to get his son back. Don't think that's likely, ha.
  21. It came from one Pirates blog. No one else confirmed it. Then reports were made much later by the usual suspects that the Pirates were asking for Torres from the Yankees. All three of those guys mentioned combined don't equal a Torres so it seems impossible that they were asking for the moon from one team and hardly anything from another.
  22. Sad that he's done, but happy he's back with the team even if it's not by playing. My favorite memories are June and on in 2006. Santana and Mauer were doing great, but I don't think the Twins make the playoffs if Morneau didn't flip the switch.
  23. In actuality, consent cannot be given one day and taken back the next because of regret. That never falls under sexual harassment/assault/rape. People get dinged with it because the other person has some kind of problem. And usually the kind of people who do those things are easy to spot beforehand unless you don't know the person well enough. Don't put yourself in those situations. Make video consent recordings if you have to. Do whatever it takes. I'm half black, so I'm well aware of all the bullcrap that gets done to us. I can't go into a store and not be followed the entire time. I get pulled over for no reason. That doesn't mean the majority of white people are bad. I don't think cops or whites are out to get me. Protect yourself and don't do/say things that will get you in to trouble and you'll never have to worry about getting slapped with false claims. Not every woman is out to get us for no reason. The vast majority aren't.
