  1. Morgan would be my choice even without considering the personality. Don't make me go Ty Cobb on you... :shoot: (OK, maybe that's more like Aaron Hernandez.)
  2. One thing we are good at here is hyperbole. We've gone from "Carroll>>>>>>>>>>>>>> DeRosa >>>>>>>>>> Dozier" to "Dozier=Cano". While neither one is accurate, I prefer hanging around this end of the spectrum.
  3. I'm not even ready to concede that yet.
  4. Hornsby, Bonds, and Cobb in the same clubhouse? Someone is going to kill someone. (The only thing they are likely to agree on is killing Piazza for his fielding.) All you need now is Dick Allen coming off the bench and Billy Martin to manage. And we thought Billy and Reggie were entertaining...
  5. That's not really the right thing to compare. He will still have the platoon advantage in all of the AB vs. LHP because that will be unchanged. The question is will he hit RHP better batting righthanded than he does now batting lefthanded. He has been so bad with the platoon advantage vs. RHP that it's hard to see him doing worse without it, and it might actually help his line against LHP by giving him more swings from the right side.
  6. C - Pinto 1B Mauer 2B Dozier 3B Plouffe SS Hardy... Ok, Escobar LF I guess Nunez is a better placeholder than Bartlett was, but not as good as Presley would have been. We need Arcia to get healthy and start hitting, because it looks like that's not every going to happen for Willingham. CF Hicks RF Parmelee
  7. When I saw the scores I thought I had read this one already, but I double-checked the date and realized I hadn't. It was just that Rochester and New Britain had the same game scores yesterday as they did the day prior.
  8. That list starts with Hawk Harrelson. No matter how goofy Bert gets, I always know it could be much, much worse.
  9. Very few pitcher with low strikeout rates have long-term success. They are not quire the be all/end all, but they are close. K/BB and K% are the best predictors of future success.
  10. If he doesn't he won't and if he does it won't.
  11. Yes he did. It's there for all to hear in the mlb.com highlights.
  12. Mine was close to that, except it was a meatball and a hanging curve. That's why I stopped pitching at age 15.
  13. I think Brock said his department is in charge of the steak dinners
  14. That's OK. With all of the likes you have already thrown around we could end world hunger.
  15. That's a good point, although we might be able to get around it with disclaimers and/or careful wording. Maybe change "a beer" to "a beverage" and add a little "details" pop-up link with something like "Sponsored messages are for entertainment purposes only and no specific promises of free food and/or beverages from the member, the site, or the sponsor are intended. Our sponsors are selected because we like them and they like us, and we encourage you to visit them." I'm sure a lawyer could help draft it. In the mean time, I'm going to call mine to see how I go about collecting all of those steak dinners.* * - (That line was for entertainment purposes only, I don't really have a lawyer)
  16. I have an idea this happens to be the thread I was on when I had it. If it's considered hijacking, let me know and I'd be glad to move it. [Moderator's note: I did move this into its own thread in the About Twins Daily portion of the site.] I just "liked": someone's post, and as you know it now says "This user likes _____'s post and wants to buy him/her a steak dinner." To be honest, I did like the post, but I don't really want to buy him/her a steak dinner. I really think a beer (or a soft drink for those who prefer that) would be more appropriate. It's more social and it's more of a "like" kind of thing. A steak dinner is more than that. We have lots of "like" posts here, but hardly any true "steak dinner" posts. (Sorry, gocgo, but that was a beer like, not a steak dinner like.) So here is my suggestion: Sponsored "likes". Instead of "This user likes _____'s post and wants to buy him/her a steak dinner" it could say "This user likes _____'s post and wants to buy him/her a beer at Freehouse" (to use the latest sponsor as an example.) That would be much more accurate (if I wasn't stuck here in Oklahoma, I would in fact like to buy him/her a beer at Freehouse, and that photo of the beer on the Freehouse link looks awfully good) and it could possibly even generate some revenue for the site.
  17. Maybe he can get into the beer leagues to learn how to hit. I bet Colabello could get him a few contacts.
  18. By now the jinx has no idea if it's coming or going, meaning the outcome will be solely determined by the skills of the teams. Fortunately, we have been spotted 5 runs. It should be close.
  19. You mean Brock has really been Gardy all along?

Maybe I can just say I kicked the ball for once.
  22. That was my vote too, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I was looking for a picture to add, but there aren't enough photos on the web of people dismembering rally monkeys.
  23. After last night's start:
  24. Looks like he should be pitching underhand and holding a beer.
