  1. Did they possibly rule him safe because of obstruction/blocking the plate?
  2. Apparently it can be a tough transition when you move to the other side of the Pacific, no matter which direction you go. I hope he turns it around and does well.
  3. Cool. Can I choose which one do?
  4. Video instead of animated GIFs:
  5. Has he selected which team's hat he will wear on his plaque in Cooperstown yet?
  6. Now let's see if the Rockies' pitching can keep it there. (One out to go, but no guarantees.)
  7. Regression to the mean, here we come. (The old term, reversion to mediocrity, probably fits better.) For a 32-yr-old, he's an OK 4th OF. His hot streak won't last forever. At his age, his next slump might.
  8. I have enjoyed most of the tournament, but the Argentina-Netherlands game was extremely boring. It's not just that it went to PKs at 0-0, but there were so few decent scoring chances. At halftime I said it was going to PKs. I'd like to see them change it to 10 players and allow more subs. If not that, then maybe just take one player off for each OT session and keep playing until someone scores. (Maybe cut that off at 7 per side.
  9. I don't think anyone is really that upset. Some feel bad for the guy because it's costing him about $3K per day, but that is really just the fate of all AAAA guys.
  10. I don't know that I'd call last night's start "very good." He used 100 pitches to get through 5 innings. He did manage to leave the bases loaded twice; otherwise, it would have been a much different game. My comfort factor with his pitching last night was pretty low.
  11. I'm sure you know this, but he is a college guy. It's nice to see, but he is 21 already. For Gordon, hitting at this level (SSS aside) could indicate something special. For Murphy, it just means he will get to continue his trek through the obstacle course that is MiLB. It's still a happy note, just not that happy. He won't be supplanting Buxton as the top prospect anytime soon. Gordon, if he moves up and keeps hitting like he has been, might.
  12. Nice article with an awesome headline. It's a shame Dakota Watts was released - you could have used "Watts on 2nd? No, he's pitching too." Maybe you got that one in and I didn't see it.
  13. So are you going to be on the 15-day day-to-day list or the 60 day day-to-day list?
  14. I can't help you. I used up the last of mine in June of last year. Ok, that's not quite true. I managed to score some back in March (that seems to be the season for it) and I find an occasional hit now and then, but it never seems to last very long.
  15. Just a side note - Masterson is doing his best to close the gap. Tonight - 2 IP, 5 ER; ERA up to 5.51 now.
  16. That was my first thought, too, when I saw the headline. Then I saw it was just Seth trying to give us all heart attacks.
  17. Well I thought it translated just fine
  18. I hope he makes one soon, because he's one for his last 28, his last HR was June 14th, and he has had 1 extra-base hit since then. I think he will snap out of it, but he has looked a bit run-down lately.
  19. I remember hearing that as an excuse/reason for the move, but I can't say I really saw it. I might not be quite an old enough old guy for the question (I was 10 at the time) and the only time I saw the Twins on TV was when they were on a national broadcast (Mon night or Sat afternoon) or when they played the Red Sox. And it wasn't a 60" HD screen, either. It was 19" black and white with fuzzy reception (before cable.)
  20. The first year they were gone was 1987 - I always thought the new uniforms were worth at least 5 wins. They were horrendous on the road that year, though, so maybe the powder blues weren't the issue. I just had always associated them with losing and ditching them with winning. Also, powder blue always looked much better on the Royals.
  21. Hey, I saw him play CF and he looked pretty good. As long as we continue to make deals with the opposition to only hit routine stuff his way when he's out there we should be OK.
  22. I have to agree with Bark - tapioca is bad. It's definitely the 60-day day-to-day list.
  23. That sounds like a good start to the list...
