  1. Guerra struck out 7.0/9 in 11 years in the minors. He had a great change-up, but not much of a fastball.
  2. That was more sad than crushing. We didn't trade the Justin Morneau, we traded the shadow of the player Morneau used to be.
  3. This year there is no pitching that is worth the massive contracts, even if the Twins were inclined to spend the money.
  4. I'm pretty sure mine could, although my sanity, if it was still around, probably wouldn't.

    My Rule 5 Pick

Walking 8 batters per 9 innings is tough to overcome. Even if you manage to stash him for a year and get him back into the minors in 2018, he will have to stay on the 40-man while we're hoping to get him ready. I think I'd prefer any of the guys on this list except Crismatt: http://tenthinningstretch.blogspot.com/2016/12/five-plus-two-names-to-know-for-twins.html
  6. I wouldn't mind rolling the dice on the ghost of Johan's past. If he has some semblance of a fastball, he will probably get people out. If he doesn't, he won't make it out of spring training and will likely retire.
  7. My kids have had a HS coach who would do that. Drives me crazy - if you haven't taught them how to hit before they step in the box, it's too late.
  8. Yes, that was a charity like I gave you (since you were groveling.)
  9. I don't like the managers consulting with someone monitoring the replay. If you were going to argue, go out and ask for a replay. if you weren't, play ball. Of course, I'm not sure how we control that when anyone in the stadium could be watching on a tablet.
  10. I think Ortiz was younger and better during his time with the Twins, but they let him go because he was blocked by Morneau. P.S. - Anyone who says they predicted at the time that Ortiz would be driving off into a Cooperstown sunset while Morneau would turn into ... whatever it is he turned into, a marginal player on a bad White Sox team - is either a liar or the biggest pessimist ever.
  11. We now you can...just won't. It's a long off-season. We can wait a couple of days.
  12. I'm guessing you know this and just mistyped, but Rule 5 draftees have to be on the 25-man roster, not just the 40-man. Your point still holds, since it's less likely he'd be kept on the 25.
  13. I say yes. Garver has 22 games at AAA and so-so production in AA. Murphy was a train wreck all year. I see little reason to believe that would be a successful combo at the MLB level next year (and for most of my time here I have been using "Irrational Optimist" as my member title.)
  14. On yesterday's list, several people were surprised Vielma was ranked so low, and I thought the same thing. It's always difficult to weigh potential for players at different stages of their careers, but I'd have a tough time ranking him behind a pitcher whose career consists of 11.2 innings in the DSL and who is coming off TJ surgery. Really, I think I would have him above everyone on this list - MLB-ready glove at SS, good OBP, young enough to progress. If he doesn't have a MLB career, I will be more surprised than going 0-5 on any of today's list even making it to the majors.
  15. Your science is blinding https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2VNxmn0lNA
  16. Definitely not worried about Korean teams
  17. We need to use all that now and save the aged 12 games stuff for next year. (A couple of bottles would be nice.)
  18. If his ERA stays over 6 he's going to be in the family business full-time pretty soon.
  19. That bottle with the black label on it is NOT Pepto.
  20. Not necessarily in that order.
  21. All your chicken dinner are belong to us.
  22. Successfully completed the intentional walk. Baby steps for this team.
  23. Leadoff for Lancaster sounds like a good spot in the lineup for him.
