    This is my main issue with the trade deadline phenomenon. Most of the time a team officially tanks afterwards, and for a bunch of C+ A-level prospects.

    I agree that this year's team is disappointing and selling makes sense logistically. But if you're complaining about the product on the field and you want to watch quality baseball, they'll only be worse after selling.

    I suspect that's the idea. Get him acclimated to the road lifestyle and, um, resisting temptation or whatever in a less structured environment.

    And, if my memory is correct, once traded straight-up for now-Twin Michael Pineda.

    I think modern contracts are about a player's age as much as they're about performance. Both players will get paid ridiculous amounts. I'm curious what happens with player options, which seems to be the new trend in long-term deals.

    Sure Magill hasn't been very good lately. I bet he's a better pitcher than their emergency catcher. All I can really say about this game is that it's a textbook example, on both sides, of how not to manage a baseball game.

    I'm frustrated with Buxton and Sano right now too, but seeing you put it in numbers (1 of 3) makes it seem okay, in a sense. Most prospects doing turn out. That said, my real reason for commenting is this. I think the Twins already did that review of the system you're speaking of (and Seth has a comment detailing it). All three names you mention debuted under Terry Ryan before June 2016. He has since been let go and replaced due to a publicly acknowledged "total system failure." These things take time.
