    Um ... but weren't Hrbek and Puckett already on the major league team BEFORE MacPhail became GM? Didn't Hrbek come up in ... what ... 81? 82? and Puckett in 84? MacPhail was with the Twins then, but he wasn't GM until 85. Correct me if I have this wrong ... I don't have time to double check.

    I'd hardly call Hicks a scrub. And if you recall, the Twins really didn't have much choice to bring him north given how either everyone else played or the condition they were in physically. And given how well he did and that he was a highly ranked Twins prospect, they took a chance. I just don't put Hicks in with the rest of the group you named.

    Wasn't a batted ball ... but Bert threw a ball up to me as he came off the field after striking someone out for the 3rd out. Catcher threw the ball back to him and as he walked off the field (I was sitting in the 1st row behind the dugout) he threw the ball up to me. My boyfriend at the time lunged in front of me and intercepted the throw, but no way did he get away with that. I still have the ball. And I won't say what year that was in. My mom 'caught' a foul a couple of years ago at ST. The ball was coming our way and everyone around us jumped up to catch it. We all heard a 'thunk' but no one could find the ball. The 'thunk' was the ball hitting the back of the seat in front of us; and it deflected into my mom's lap where it stayed. She had a pretty nice bruise by later that day. But not bad for an 80-yr-old. She is very proud of that story to this day.

    Sorry ... you wrote such a good paragraph but this really made me laugh. 'Academic goobly-goop' ... such a great oxymoron. Or maybe it's not ...

    Yeah ... which is why I said some feminists explore these <ahem> 'other areas' but those are not what feminism defines, imo. And yeah ... this is just bat**** crazy, imo, and extreme and makes me wonder just what her experiences in life has been to put her over the edge. But I think that about just about anyone waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out there on the fringes. (And I mean, way out there ... further than any of us! ) Again ... I don't think this should be equated to feminism, modern or otherwise, at all. It really negates the good that some have done in the name of equality.

    I don't call that modern feminism ... I call that extremism. And, quite frankly, find it insulting you'd refer it to feminism at all, modern or otherwise. Feminism about equality for women. It's not about redefining their sexuality. Yes, some feminists do explore gender roles and sexuality, but that is really a separate exploration beyond seeking equality in the 'socio-economic-political' realms. At least in my opinion it is.

    It won't be only 10 minutes in March. Guarantee that. But if you head up there again, try out the Farmer's Market restaurant ... southern cookin' at its best. Huge portions, inexpensive.

    Would they be at CoP Park, or at the training center? Because where the Red Sox used to train isn't the same as where they played games. Their training center is about 2 miles or so from the park.

    It would be a great story for sure if he could come back but I think the probabilities of Johan coming back are very, very small.

    With my sister it was the opposite ... she was paid for 9 months but she could pro-rate her weekly pay in order to get a check all year round, i.e. the summer months are not paid time off.

    Man ... I wish I had a TV/game/media room, I'd totally get 4. It would be perfect! Maybe if I didn't have the piano ... okay, no, no way, piano is priority ... no chairs. Sigh. But not for not wanting them. Brock, you can tell her that this is from another female, if that has any sway.
