  1. True. However … it's enough of a concern from my perspective. I still think it's a very precarious thing. And if the votes are there in the Senate, it would worry me a great deal in today's climate. As with everything, there is increasing lobbying around Justice nominations/appointments, and I only see that getting worse. And in this next presidential term or two … for me, I just really feel like there is too much at stake.
  2. I've also said before it's been uninspiring for me casting a vote in the past several elections. But … as I said … my female vote matters to me. Until voting for a 3rd party candidate isn't going to end up being a vote for a Republican, I will vote Democrat every, single, time. I actually thought about not voting for Obama the last two elections, only because I'm in Illinois, and there was no way the state wasn't going to go for him. But … you just never know … just. couldn't. not. do. it.
  3. Although Bernie has been in politics a long time and could certainly fall in the realm of 'career politician' he still seems to try and fight the fights that need fighting; he hasn't fallen the way most career poli's go … even if he doesn't get all the support. At least with him in the race, he keeps issues relevant. Even if he doesn't get the nomination, he's going to shake things up. If Biden jumps in, it tells me one thing … the Democratic party leadership (Kerry, Ried, etc) are afraid of BOTH Sanders and Clinton for one reason and one reason only … neither one will cowtow to them, neither one will be 'controllable' by them. In the end, and I've said this before, as a woman, I have too much at stake and will never, ever vote for or want a Republican in office to oversee the next Supreme Justice nomination. I will vote Democratic every single time … even if it means Hillary or Sanders … whom I both like, or at least don't hate. But even if it's Biden (barf) I'll vote for him, too. Voting against the current Republican party will always be the way I vote until it changes.
  4. I realize he's not most everyone's cup of tea here. But … I think he's a real candidate. Finally someone with authenticity as you say. Wellstone was often greeted with the same comments when he started his first campaign for the Senate … people didn't agree with him, but he was 'real' in a sea of … not so real. Not just a professional politician.
  5. Bernie Sanders?
  6. But JB, I LOVE food on a stick! I mean Thai chicken satay with peanut sauce is the best! And shish kabob? Yum! Oh, and let's not forget Dove bars! Food on a stick … best ever!
  7. Because it is getting to the point … in the graph Brock gave … where the top 1% is getting more and more of the pie while the rest, less and less. Whether or not you fix this through a boost in min. wage and/or other means, it will lead to revolt. We are already seeing that in communities across the country. Those with the least truly have no hope of life getting better. I've heard so many people say 'They just need to pull themselves up by their boot straps,' but if they have no boot straps, then what? I'm not advocating a system where you work hard and earn a ton only to give it all away, but something has to be done to make those with the least at least able to climb. What we are seeing now is a system that doesn't even allow that.
  8. yes, really. I mean, sheesh, let them eat cake.
  9. Sigh. Bbl. Have to run to the store real quick.
  10. Aww, man ... why did you say milkdud? Now I want a tiny ball of caramel covered in chocolate.
  11. I'm waiting for National Lutefisk Day ... and for you to give us a report on your celebrations of it.
  12. If you want to get rid of ear worm, start singing the Hawaii 5-0 theme song. Works every time.
  13. Because this is a most excellent thought, and because I'm sure Brian wouldn't mind, and, being his editor, I put that into the article.
  14. So much to say. So little time to say it.
  15. Enough. Last I checked this was a thread about GOP candidates. While issues do come up in the course of discussion, particularly a political thread, do not drag this down a one-issue course. I don't particularly like to 'moderate' an off-topic thread, but you are taking this a bit too far. And characterizing other posters in this fashion, when you really have no real idea what they support or don't, is disrespectful, both to Ben and to those discussing ideas in good faith.
  16. This just sucks. I'm going back to not watching.
  17. Or maybe he doesn't like being called 'Rosie' either.
  18. Okay … i'm not posting anymore.
  19. C'mon, Rosie … smack it out of here!
  20. Yup, pen time for Pelf. Not holding my breath, but sheesh … something's gotta give and this seems like a logical first step … removes him from the rotation and potentially helps the pen. Of course, that means someone needs to go from the pen … hmmm … choices, choices.
  21. Yeah … have another IPA. Might help, not in the right way, but in another.
  22. Took advantage of IPA Day now, did ya?
  23. ugh. ****. i just can't keep watching these games. ****.
