  1. Meh ... I drive my little 6-speed around Chicago. Yeah, it can be a little tedious but mostly it's fun.
  2. That's actually the civilized drive ... it's the other that isn't so much.
  3. My Dad had a Chevy truck that was 'three on the tree' ... it was fun to drive, while he still had it.
  4. I learned how to jump start my car without jumper cables. Get it rolling then pop the clutch. Of course, that wouldn't work on an automatic. But I don't own an automatic, never have. I also used to change my own oil and filter. That was fun ... well, was mostly 'fun' saying I knew how and could and did do it. But there is no need to fuss with that now. Besides, I'm not allowed to do such things in my condo building garage. Beyond that, I let the car's computer tell me when something needs to be checked and/or done. Okay, well, when the low tire pressure light comes on, I can handle that one myself, too.
  5. To abide by TD posting policy, ftfy.
  6. Except hot dogs.
  7. Yeah, I actually don't mind this lineup ... but we'll see.
  8. Oh, and I forgot to mention ... my burger place ... beer, GOOD beer, and lots of it. And they make one, really good cocktail, which is my go to. It's one of those you easily get tipsy off of because it tastes so good and goes down easy.
  9. I've got nothing and no one volunteered (shame on y'all) ... but I don't think that matters much because you guys are good at taking any game thread and running with it anyway. Just wish someone would run with it from the beginning. There are still a few games left to claim. Just sayin'. But for today ... ready ... set ... GO! Lineups: TWINS Brian Dozier® 2B Jorge Polanco(S) SS Joe Mauer(L) DH Kennys Vargas(S) 1B Max Kepler(L) RF Eduardo Escobar(S) 3B Eddie Rosario(L) LF Juan Centeno(L) C Byron Buxton® CF Hector Santiago(L) P TIGERS Ian Kinsler® 2B Jose Iglesias® SS Miguel Cabrera® 1B Victor Martinez(S) DH J.D. Martinez® RF Justin Upton® LF James McCann® C JaCoby Jones® CF Andrew Romine(S) 3B Mike Pelfrey® P Hmmm ... okay ... and there you have it. Weather: Upper 60s (brrr!), partly cloudy, no rain in sight, winds at 5mph from the east.
  10. In my opinion, for what it's worth ... And yeah, I don't do McDonald's often. Maybe, maybe a grilled chicken sandwich if I'm on the road or in a hurry.
  11. Places like what North posted are the best for burgers, no question. But in lieu of that kind of a joint nearby, this is the neighborhood burger place. It's a bit more ... 'hoity toity' ... but they do do burgers good! My 'go to' is the 'make your own' using the Prime Grind. Yep, that's what it is ... the best, ground, prime rib ... and it is a GOOD burger. Oh, and the fried pickles are awesome! http://burgerbarchicago.com/menu/burgers/ If I want fast, on the run, there is a Five Guys and an Epic Burger not far away. I prefer Epic to Five Guys, but, meh, it doesn't quite match and is really just fast food but a little different.
  12. I just hope he can get healthy and START next season.
  13. Right. None of us knows who does what here. I agree with the general sentiment that no one is 'safe' and that whoever is hired will have to take a look at everything and make decisions/changes where necessary. But this is not a specific discussion on Jack Goin and the 'he can run the benefits database' was a bit mean-spirited, in my opinion. Let's keep the discussion to the POBO possibilities, what you hope/expect them to change, please, without going into a specific discussion on Mr. Goin. Thank you.
  14. I saw the 'Papa' and immediately thought Papa Beard ... no way anyone wins trading away a Papa Beard cream puff. No. Way. But you didn't say that so carry on.
  15. We had a thread here on Jessica Jones. I remember Daredevil also being talked about ... maybe on that thread as well? http://twinsdaily.com/topic/20804-marvels-jessica-jones/
  16. Returning for a 2nd year is 'Life in Pieces' starring Dianne Wiest and James Brolin. The first season was quite funny. Looking forward to the new season.
  17. Both Bushes got ill during big functions. The younger vomited and passed out at a big state dinner. The press was pretty minimal. Yes, it was discussed, he was sick, he was going to fine, then everyone moved on. But thanks for doubling down from the media rabbit hole.
  18. Maybe because adults are more aware of their allergies and are in a better position to guard against an accidental peanut intake?
  19. My bro-in-law has a serious nut allergy. They carry eppy pens, or whatever they are called, with them wherever they go. He will have a reaction when he walks into a kitchen and someone has just rinsed out a pb jar. Even the fumes are bad for him. I don't think more people are allergic to peanuts than before ... I just think there is more awareness now.
  20. You believe what you want. And I'll believe what I want. Somewhere in the middle is a truth that is difficult to see.
  21. The original 'Law and Order' is no longer strong. The SVU one is, but not the original. I think that ended last year. Maybe. I never met a peanut I didn't like. Unless it was rotten. And I didn't eat it anyway. Now I hope you are all singing, 'Found a peanut, found a peanut, found a peeeeeaaaaanut last night ...' Kids cooking? We did. When we were older. Perhaps didn't cook whole meals, but I certainly had the responsibility on many nights to get it started. But we helped when we were younger. Mom was a home ec teacher at one time. Even though she left that profession early on in our growing years, she still made sure we were all self-sufficient in the kitchen. Yeah, I always thought that 'I Want You' guy was a little scary the same way a clown is. They aren't supposed to be, but they are.
  22. You might be numb, but honestly ... how scrutinized is he in comparison? Sure, maybe because it's just not worth discussing because it's so obvious ... but he still will have a LOT of people voting for him. If all his wrongs were treated in the same fashion, maybe those a LOT would really rethink it. But why isn't he being treated the same way in the press and in public? Why aren't these issues of his, which are far worse, being hammered to death? Seriously ... how many people know he's being investigated for human trafficking? I would guess most who read this here do, but I'd bet a lot in the public do not. But I bet way more know about Hillary's pneumonia.
  23. And why is that? You know, I absolutely cringe with every single step she makes because she has to be ****ING perfect or she gets shredded. No presidential candidate in our history has faced this level of microscopic scrutiny ... and honestly, don't say that if it were a different female candidate it wouldn't be this way. Because it would. We've set a standard for her not because it's Clinton, but because Clinton is a her. Once people stop doing that, maybe discussions would be more legitimate because this was truly ridiculous, imo.
  24. When should she have disclosed? Huh? Do you know exactly when she was diagnosed? I know several people who have had pneumonia and it wasn't diagnosed at first symptoms. I think she was as forthcoming as she needed to be and there is not an issue of transparency with this at all. Mountains out of molehills. Because yes, Clinton is one big walking scandal.
