  1. Jeff Sessions as AG? Okay ... no words ...
  2. Yup ... not sure if or when anyone can make that happen, though, as those who can make it happen are the ones benefiting from it. We'll see ...
  3. Uh, one of your kids named one of their kids Kanye? I think you can do better than that, GV.
  4. I'm not so sure it's optimistic of me to up my giving in wake of the election as I think it indicates I'm unsure and want to do what I can to help protect certain areas. However, my personal critiques and criticisms, I'm just keeping pretty mum about ... that's the wait and see ... not getting embroiled into the 'this could happen - no it couldn't' discussions, despite what I might think.
  5. I'm taking a 'wait and see' approach to all of these. And in the meantime, upping my contributions to Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, local food banks and shelters, etc. ...
  6. And, in case you didn't know ... Pret a Manger (which is missing all the accent and other diacritical marks) is French and means 'Take Out Food' or 'Fast Food'
  7. Heh ... I added the links to my post so there is no future confusion.
  8. Hahaha ... I did that tour, too ... but in September and the weather was gorgeous. And they made us sing on the bus. One of my colleagues wondered how I knew the words to all the songs and I said that I remembered when the movie first came out and we had the sheet music at home. And knowing that the movie came out in '65 he looked at me and said, 'You're that old??' Heh ... the Sound of Music ... ahhhhhhh. As for fast food, hmm, I don't really eat at too many fast food places, or rather not at any one with regularity, but my neighborhood has this place called Pita Heaven. I'd choose that one. Or maybe Pret a Manger.
  9. Van has mentioned before how he likes binge-watching Tiny House Hunters.
  10. What is that?
  11. If you really want to get serious about it, just switch to All-Bran and prunes.
  12. I've been trying to cook a large-ish meal on Mondays, with the thought I'd have enough for at least 4 more nights ... so basically having a meal 'ready' on weeknights when I get home from work.
  13. Right ... the EC has turned presidential elections into a math equation ... we don't need this, we'll never have this, but if we get this, that and another, we'll have it sewn up. Both sides do this so something needs to be sorted out. I don't really think anything will, but it should.
  14. And will for the next 4-5 nights. I divvied up all the leftover veggies, meat and gravy, put them into 5 containers and voila! Just have to pop one into the microwave for a minute or two and dinner is served. Of course, you have to not mind the same thing every night going forward until it's done. I suppose I could have put 2 or 3 in the freezer for a later meal, but I never eat it then.
  15. There're a lot of suggestions in this thread: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/23904-fall-tv-2016/ There are also some individual threads if you scroll down. On this page are Stranger Things and Luke Cage. There have also been other threads discussing different things like 'The Robot.' No one has commented on one of my favorite shows right now, probably because it's on regular network tv, but 'Life in Pieces' has me out loud laughing every episode.
  16. I know it's not National Pot Roast Day, but I made one tonight; a very tasty one, with potatoes, carrots and onions on the side. And not only that, I made gravy successfully, too, from the leftover liquid. So. Yum!
  17. Lol ... that made me laugh.
  18. FTFY. There's a place nearby me that has the best fried pickles ... I never liked them until I had them there. I wish they'd bring back their fried cheese curds, though ... omg ... BEST. EVER! Good thing I don't eat out that often.
  19. I love avocados and guacamole. But I don't want either on my burger, maybe other things, but not my ground prime rib burger, nope ... just not what I like, but whatevs. Pickles ... varies. The sharper the dill, it gives me heartburn. I like the sweeter bread and butter pickle. Fried pickle chips? omg, yes! With the right dipping sauce, bring it on.
  20. Do you look in a mirror when you say that?
  21. Years ago, when I worked in an actual office (as a receptionist), our department would go out to lunch fairly regularly ... always something to 'celebrate.' I'd always have a drink ... sometimes a strong one, sometimes two. I never 'ruined' it for anyone, though. But in one of my 'sillier moments' when someone came in to see the owner of the company, and I didn't believe who he said he was and asked to see his ID, it was a good thing the owner of the company thought it was really funny that I had just ID-checked the then Chief of Police for the city of Minneapolis.
  22. But not to get us side-tracked and become a movie thread, and back to the OP ... thank you Vets for your service!
  23. Seriously, no one goes out for lunch anymore and orders an alcoholic beverage of some sort?
  24. 50s? Heck ... late 80s/early 90s I had drinks at lunchtime.
