  1. Sigh. Now I'm backed to traumatized on the ledge ...
  2. Bark, you need to just back down a little. I don't know what's in your mind about what I think of you, but from this response I can tell you you're wrong. I wasn't being scathing and I know many 'joke' about moving to Canada but a lot aren't joking. Own up to your own stuff.
  3. Hey ... I can paddle a canoe just fine, tyvm. And can find my way through the woods with a compass and a map.
  4. That's the key. Too much complacency in too many. I think we've just kind of been drifting along for a while now, taking a helluvalot for granted ... just letting the boat steer the course instead of us steering the course. And it's not going to be an easy course to correct.
  5. It's not so easy to just move to Canada. I've done it. You either have to prove you can support yourself or you have to find a job with a company that will support your move there. And for that job, you have to have skills that Canada needs and wants and can't find within their own borders. If you are self-employed and have the type of work that can move anywhere, then you'll be okay. If not, good luck.
  6. You know we're all moving in with you, right?
  7. No, I don't think they can.
  8. Pretty much. So many frustrated people out there ... willing to just say '**** it, I'm done' and there it is ... we'll see how it goes. (And yes, I know that was rather simplistic, but that's all I've got tonight.)
  9. Yeah ... I mean we can 2nd guess all we want ... there is no way of knowing ... when we get this result ... yeah ... no clue ...
  10. Or not. I honestly don't believe Bernie would have won regardless.
  11. I should've moved around my 403b percentages all out of stocks
  12. Heh, that was fast, but not official. https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20161108/edgewater/illinois-presidential-election-results-hillary-clinton-wins-illinois
  13. Oh, no ... not me ... my thoughts are as pure as the driven snow!
  14. Um ... are you suggesting that was my reaction? It wasn't. It was expected considering the ward I live in in the city I live in. What I was saying was that I felt comfortable knowing that those around were likely voting as I was, but looking at the demographic, I made a generalized statement.
  15. Well, this is likely to sound terribly racist of me ... but I had a wait when I voted over two weeks ago. So there I sat with many others waiting to vote. When I surveyed the room I realized I was the only caucasian there. While one can never be certain of how a certain demographic will vote, I felt fairly certain there weren't many in the room voting for Trump. Then had a nice conversation with the woman sitting next to me about life and how we both just wanted this over.
  16. Life is short. When you can grab moments of not being unhappy and annoyed, I'd do it. Plenty of time for that later.
  17. How is everyone spending the evening? Watching election returns somewhere? Drinking heavily somewhere trying not to pay attention until a winner is announced? I'm off to play tennis tonight. It will do me some good.
  18. I moved it to here ... did you want it deleted?
  19. I'm in one of those areas. I'm pretty confident Kirk (R-IL) isn't going to be re-elected, but he came out pretty early on stating that the Senate should be doing its job so it hasn't been a debate issue. Although I'm not sure how hard he's been lobbying his colleagues in the Senate to reverse this blockade. There was something else he went against the Senate GOP on, too, but I can't remember now.
  20. Progress! And out of curiosity, how many women has Montana sent to Washington since her?
  21. Right. I can make a lot of assumptions, too, on how and where the growth will be ... and I hope that's what will be. But until we see what and where, I'll reserve judgement.
  22. Let me rephrase then ... all that says is that they are expanding the baseball operations part of the FO. Expand it how? where? who are they adding to do what? I don't know for sure they don't have enough staff, maybe they just don't have the right staff. But just adding staff to add staff doesn't tell me what I need to know whether or not this is or will be an improvement. What, exactly, is the plan? If they said they were making room for improvements in 'this department' or 'that department' and why and how they were doing thus, then I'd have something to comment on. Basically right now the information is a bit too generalized to say if this is a good or a bad thing. imo.
  23. Quantity doesn't always translate to quality. I don't mind growth where it's needed, but saying you plan to expand the FO doesn't really tell me much until I see who and what exactly changes.
  24. Gee, imagine that. Three days before or a week before, the damage was done. Maybe it will reverse enough of it.
  25. ST continued and games were played during the WBC. There are still a lot of guys in camp who didn't (and won't this year) play on a WBC team. The roster obviously was a little depleted and they kept up some players longer into ST instead of being sent to the minors camp, but ST still happened. I've been to some portion of ST every year since 2001 and scattered years prior to that and since '91. It still happened. I don't recall, however, playing WBC teams before, but that could just be my memory.
