  1. Heh ... and lest you (well, others, not your specifically, because I'm sure you got it right) find yourself sounding as uncultured as I did ... it's not pronounced 'poke' like 'pig in a poke' ... it's pronounced po-kay.
  2. Yeah ... my favorite 'new' thing is all the Hawaiian poke bowls we have now at various asian restaurants. It's like ... salad with fruit and fish (sushi) ... I could eat that for every meal.
  3. You'd die of starvation if you lived in Hawaii.
  4. I think that ever since Esther the Wonder Pig has become quite a hit, people are just consuming less pork in general. http://www.estherthewonderpig.com/the-dark-side
  5. Yes, it does ... on BOTH sides of this.
  6. Yeah ... many are ... I have a childhood friend on FB who is all in favor of the refugee/immigrant ban ... it's making America safe from terrorists. But the irony in that statement is it likely makes us less safe both in making a certain segment of the world hate us more, and that our allies will also be backing away from us one step at a time.
  7. And THIS is what the 2nd amendment is for ... not that I will be going out to purchase a gun ... but this is what the founders were talking about, no?
  8. Oh no he didn't! Voter fraud! Voter fraud! As his voter fraud investigator is registered to vote in three states.* *I didn't verify this 'fact' from a meme I saw, so it could be an alt-fact.
  9. The guy just said 'No, I'm Dave'
  10. Lol, my sister, Karyn, thought she recognized you from the pub crawl and went up to a total stranger and asked, 'Are you Dinger?'
  11. Chief wasn't there, but my sister, Karyn was and thought the event was pretty awesome. She said she was a bit distracted by LaTroy Hawkins sitting at her table that she sort of missed what Jack Goin said. She took that photo of LaTroy reminiscing with longtime fans.
  12. And who says she's not doing that, too?
  13. Or, Psycho reference here, JD Goin's mom!
  14. It's how I really feel, as a fan. It was done, for various reasons agree or disagree, it didn't work out (mildly put), neither Ryan nor Plouffe are with us any longer, I don't think it was a huge set back for Sano as I think there were greater reasons for his performance last year (and yes, I'm not saying this wasn't a contributing factor, just not the major factor, in my opinion as a fan), so why the need to continue belaboring it. It's not the future, I don't think it was hugely impactful of the future, so let's move on, as it seems Sano has, in a good way. That's my opinion as a fan. As a fan reading these threads, some of the belaboring of past decisions gets really tiring, but whatever. As a moderator, however, there is a point where continually bringing up certain points over and over again, thread after thread after thread, well, read the policy on that. That post you quoted wasn't a moderator warning. This last little bit of this one is.
  15. Well, it was what you said so I thought that's what the article said. Now that I've read the article I'm not sure I'd come to quite that same conclusion even though I agree Polanco isn't a good shortstop.
  16. I didn't read the article. Is that what they said the reason was, because Polanco wasn't good enough?
  17. A change of culture, even a needed change, doesn't necessarily mean the culture was bad. It means that new directions need to be taken to get us to where we need to go. And paving the way sometimes is necessary before actually fully embarking in that direction. Did I just make this a road construction analogy? I'm tired. Edit: ooops, I should have read one more post first.
  18. I didn't read the whole where the OP quote came from, so like nick I'm asking, who is 'he'? Someone from the Twins? The WBC manager? The DR manager? Sounds as if it's one of the latter two and not the Twins. Do the Twins have any say at all?
  19. I'm not sure what you meant by putting that (the part I bolded) in there. If that's an off-handed way of making an accusation, I'd say just leave it off.
  20. Also, since challenge/replay system has been instituted in tennis it has taken away much of the line call disputing that has been present in both the men's and women's games. I think I read about 30% of the calls have been overturned. That's a lot, really, when so much of the game is dependent on in or out calls. There was a finals match involving Roddick where he had a 'meltdown' over a call (prior to replay challenge) where later it showed he was right and the line judge was wrong.
  21. The famous incident with Serena was a bogus foot fault call. While Serena shouldn't have responded as she did, that line judge should have been removed from ever being an official again. But don't kid yourself when singling out Serena, she's far from the worst. Still not acceptable but Federer is no angel either. Also, Serena isn't just an amazing talent, she is THE BEST the women's game has ever seen. And the longevity the Williams sisters have had at the level they have played is really unprecedented in today's game. A 35 yr old woman at #1? It's more than just amazing imo.
  22. Clay is a very different game than hard court than grass. I don't think it has anything to do with core strength, it's just a very different game, one that I think Nadal is superior to Federer in. You are dead to me.
  23. Rafa v Roger is all kinds of nostalgia. But this was history: http://www.espn.com/espnw/sports/article/18571644/australian-open-goat-debate-serena-williams-everyone-else?addata=espn:frontpage
  24. And now we're moving forward to a new year and a new Sano.
  25. Well, I didn't read posts that claimed Sano was a lazy, weak-charactered man. I read several posts last year and this that he had some maturing to do and he did. And it looks like he has turned a corner in that area and is now realizing he has to work at it, too. I don't think that's questioning his character. ALL of us at that age had the same growing up and figuring it out to do. Yes, that had an affect, in not a positive way, in how things played out last year. And I think it was the bigger part of the problem. Yes, the RF thing was a mistake from the get go, and yes, it might have hampered the year and his development to an extent, but I don't think it was anything he couldn't overcome or is forever lost. His approach last year made it worse, imo, than it should have been and that, for me, was an issue of maturity. But I was also not down on him, either. I just chalked it up to growing pains and I've glad to see he's grown. Er, not physically, but I think you know what I mean. And I do agree that the past is important in order to learn from and go forward, and hopefully not repeat, but I also don't think it needs to be hammered at, either, when some of those involved who caused that are gone.
