  1. Esco is one of my favorites ... always glad when he gets it done.
  2. It's a good thing to have goals in life! hic What?
  3. It actually is to me ... so I say ... keep it up ... unfortunately today I'm in and out in various spurts.
  4. He said over ST that he was really going to work on his running game. Guess it's paying off.
  5. Day game ... at work ... difficult to participate on a working game day.
  6. I hope he's a legit #2 while with the Twins ... and a legit #4 wherever else he lands. Compromise is always a good thing. Just stopping by ... brief lunch break.
  7. You may still be doing game threads every other toward the end of season as volunteers wane. Be careful when you give me and Chief blanket instructions such as 'When you are truly desperate, call me in from the bullpen,' because we are likely to do so, every other day.
  8. That, I will agree with you on. So would I. But predicting the outcome of such a thing with the example you gave really doesn't work, imo. For all the reasons Brock gave. Yes, I wish Mauer would alter his approach at times ... if for no other reason to not be so predictable to opposing pitchers ... but calling for that with this at bat is not the gripe to make, again, imo.
  9. I thought my math career ended years ago with linear algebra ... thanks a lot for those who continue to bring math to the thread ...
  10. Still have some April dates to choose from ... step up one and all!!
  11. That's what happens when you post before you think.
  12. Ah ... too bad ... like reading about that kind of inspirational type stuff
  13. It's just a HUUUUUUGE let down, to put it mildly.
  14. Yeah, I love it, too ... given the pitches he got. Seriously? He should go ahead and swing away at bad pitches just to swing? Edit: Ooops, guess Brock beat me to that.
  15. I think there are a lot of fielders who initially don't get a good read. You don't know what the conditions are with the wind, rain, lights. Most fielders who would initially take a step back then recover would never get to that ball. The fact he can quickly reassess and still make a play makes it a great defensive play in my book.
  16. As much as there was 'gnashing of teeth' with the roster, I think we are also over-jubilant with one win. Yes, great to see Sano make the plays he needs to and hit a bomb. Santana was no less than I expected, to be honest. Glad the bullpen held up for him, but our offense (and, well, KC's bullpen) gave us a good lead to go on. Buxton will be making plays like he did all season. He is going to be fun to watch, and one of the reasons I'll be watching all season. I hope his bat comes around, and I think it will, but man, he is a defensive god. So much to be happy about in what we saw in that opening win. That said, and while Polanco made the plays he did, I still think his arm looks ... weak. As long as he makes the plays he should throughout the season, I'll be very happy, but I am still holding reservations there.
  17. I said it earlier in thread, I'll say it again ... he had such beautiful and he chopped it off last year ... I loved his dreads.
  18. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIKE!!!! Twins win, beer, chocolate mousse ... hope your day is complete!
  19. I'm getting the chicken out and ready ... guess I should have started thawing it sooner ...
  20. Twins are up 7-1 in the bottom of the 8th.
  21. Well, win this one today and it's already a way better start to the season than last year. It's not really a stretch.
