  1. You needed a hazmat suit to do it then, too.
  2. While I've had some issues, the minute I've posted about them, they've been dealt with. I also am back to using Firefox or Safari and that has been way better than Chrome for me.
  3. The two things I missed on my edits of the original. I flat out missed the wrong date. Heh. And the spelling of Wile. I knew it didn't look right in my first pass through and was going to check, then events at home made me forget.
  4. Yup. Unfortunately, there are a large number of people who wouldn't find anything wrong with this, either. The kisses are one thing, but his restraint of her on top of that? No. On camera or not she should have defended herself and would have been in her rights to do so. Pseudo is right ... this isn't the first time someone like this has done something like this and probably thinks there was no wrong in it, whether or not it's because he's a professional athlete or someone else. And probably got away with it in the past instilling in him a sense of it being okay. Good for the French Open to oust him. And the reference above to the WWII photo, I recently read an article on that incident and the woman in the photo stated it was not a welcome advance and that he was very strong and she was unable to pull away.
  5. Yeah, but I really don't pay attention to standings until after the all-star break, so it's pretty much game to game for me, hoping to win more than we lose, hoping to have good games to watch. That's how I get through a long season ... first place or last place at this time of the season ... I just shrug. Its neither an optimistic nor pessimistic response, it's mostly a 'whatever' respone when talking about standings. Edit: Although it does pull at me and I do check ... but I also keep it in perspective.
  6. Most of the games so far this season have been fun to watch ... emphasize most, and not all, so it goes in any sport. Well, and recent past would have that reversed. Baseball is a long season and can and usually is full of surprises ... whether that be on a daily basis or a season basis. Some times good teams underperform and bad teams overperform, good players have a bad day/season, bad players have a good day/season, and despite the stats/metrics, sometimes the unexpected happens. It's a long season and not everything is predictable. But I think this bullpen was and many called it early on. I was hoping for the unexpected there. Didn't get it. But ... silver lining, perhaps ... changes are being made and I hope continue to be made and we'll see where we are in a month or two. I'm still hoping for the best and preparing for the worst because that's how I deal with every season.
  7. Oy, on air or not I would have defended myself. More disturbing was him basically having her in a head lock unable to pull away.
  8. You should also highlight that I said 'potential' because I don't think we need to wait for something like that to happen with the increased power and velocity with which balls are now being thrown. That it hasn't is no reason to continue this trend of throwing balls at people with the intent to hit them and do nothing about it until someone is seriously injured. Yes, hbp happen without intent, and yes, there is danger in that, and yes, players take that risk because it happens. But aiming at a body or head with a ball going 100mph is not silly, it's downright stupid, and potentially criminal, imo.
  9. Perhaps if you didn't continue to post the brawls to revel in them, even hope for them to occur, others who don't like them wouldn't post opinions to the contrary. That said, I really don't mind that you post these articles because it IS baseball news, and I do appreciate the articles you post on baseball in the other forums as well as here. However, I'm not sure what you expect people to do ... not post their opinions of an article in a public forum? I think there is a pretty even split in how posters here feel about these brawls and how they start; and whenever they get started by a pitcher who intentionally throws at a batter, and not even in the heat of the moment as was pointed out in subsequent articles that Strickland was 'out to get' Harper, I can guarantee this is how the thread is likely to go. I don't think that's silly. I also don't think potential serious, life-threatening or career-ending injury is silly, especially done with the intent Strickland showed. I don't think adult men playing a game resorting to violence is silly. Do I get why it happens? Yes, to some extent. Doesn't mean I think it should and will always hope there is a way to evolve without destroying the passion of the game.
  10. I've copied the post and sent it directly to Brock.
  11. It looks more threatening in the photo than it looks or feels in person.
  12. Tonight's viewpoint for the Miracle game:
  13. Gaijin is a term used to reference all non-Japanese, or foreigners, in Japan, not just baseball players. At one time the term was somewhat derogatory, a racial slur even, but now usage is pretty widespread and universally accepted.
  14. Brock can give you the whys and wherefores, but yes, use only one space after punctuation. While two spaces was the norm when typing, it is no longer the norm. Use only one space.
  15. Um, you left off 'Rally Monkey' as a choice. Just sayin'...
  16. Of course not and he shouldn't react that way. But the pitcher should not be throwing with the intent of hitting him. What I meant was backing up with young pitchers and teaching them that is something they shouldn't be doing, ever.
  17. Yep ... I'm all for pitchers getting tougher penalties for intentionally hitting anyone. However, it's difficult to determine intent ... sometimes it's pretty obvious while other times it's not. But that which is obvious, tough penalty and fine and maybe it will make others think twice.
  18. Backing up a step and teaching pitchers not to intentionally hit batters would be the place to start.
  19. I'm in Fort Myers and will be at the game tomorrow. I see that Wells is scheduled to pitch. Looking forward to it!
  20. Watching 'The English Patient' felt more like 6 years. And trips to the DMV feels like 6 hours because it probably actually took 6 hours.
  21. I'd sit him for a game after 8 strikeouts, too. But when he pinch hit in Saturday's game what did he do? Yup. Not sure that was the best call to sit him a second game but I'm not sure it was a wrong one, either. There is a mental aspect, and people do tire. Molitor is closer to Sano than either of us and probably has some first-hand info on every player we don't have. The 8 strikeouts in a row are significant enough, 9 if you count Saturday's game, to give him some rest. If he's not back out there today, however, then I'll wonder more along the lines that you jumped to yesterday. And this from one who is not a big fan of Molitor, never has been, didn't even want him hired. But am not going to get overly anxious from his decision to sit Sano Saturday and Sunday.
  22. Maybe he has shown what he's got and that's it.
  23. If you want to talk about why we lost in 3 different threads, I'm going to merge them all.
  24. You forgot Dozier making the 3rd out by trying to get an extra base in the bottom of the 8th. I think that deserves to be part of the team effort, too.
  25. Oh hush with your out loud frustration
