  1. Use single spaces at the end of sentences instead of two and that will ‘fix’ the spacing issue.
  2. This long/time liberal agrees but I still have little hope that the Dems will get it right in time
  3. I think there are younger voices that aren’t the old guard and aren’t millennial, either. The point is that I think the party leadership needs to be adjusted in order to find the compromise needed to get it together. I will still vote D because I think it’s better than any alternative out there. Maybe younger voices wasn’t the right description ... but new, strong voices who can blaze a trail to a message that the party can at least go forward on. Some of those on the far left want it all or nothing and then claim non-inclusion in the process. And I think those more Central have difficulties with compromise, too. As I said, the party is too broad and it’s difficult to find a common voice because the gulf is wide between what the right and left in the party support.
  4. The narrator of the Guzman commercial makes that one hilarious with his bionic man noise.
  5. It’s been linked here recently, but the Thome/Paul Bunyan and Babe Twins Territory commercial.
  6. The Dems can't get organized. Their ideology is too wide and there is strong disagreement from one end to the other what their message should be moving forward, and a strong unwillingness to compromise, so ... And their leadership needs to step aside and take a back seat and the let the younger voices lead us forward, but they won't and can't see the damage it's doing. There's also a strong disagreement who the leadership should be. Career politicians ... there really shouldn't be a thing and I think it would be better, but they are, in both parties.
  7. Yeah, I wasn’t really asking a serious question. More trying to suggest ... he doesn’t really have the options he wants and he’s going to have to choose between the rock and the hard place. And I’m still not sure I want that person on my team, the one making a sort of disgruntled choice. But we’ll see.
  8. I already think he is the problem. I think he wants the Yankees or Dodgers to pony up and is disappointed that the market isn't bearing that out for him. He's seen some of the contracts of the recent past and wants his, too. While I believe he will be the front-end starter we need, and that he is very good, better than most, I wouldn't put him in the same elite upper echelons category of Kershaw. He seems to want a Kershaw (or closer to it) contract and he's not going to get it. There aren't many teams who can afford to give out those kinds of contracts and he's stuck in an off-season where he's getting the best of what's left. I have no real idea anymore what's fair or not with these salaries, but I do think the Twins offered what they could and what was smart and what was fair, but I think Darvish is disappointed and is still hoping something 'better' comes through. Will he sit out part of the season waiting? What will happen to all those quality players still unsigned? I think something has to fall. I think it's still a possibility Darvish will sign with the Twins ... but at what cost to us, and I'm not thinking monetary cost. I'm thinking attitude. I'm not sure I want him at this point. This off-season has made me crabby.
  9. I think your intern has difficulties with high pressure situations. Next time try a food truck that only specializes in one thing.
  10. Good article, Ted. I agree with everything you said.
  11. The Democrats can't agree on a message that suits everyone in the party. They will continue to flounder on this front, imo.
  12. When I first read that in Sconnie's post, I had to go back and check who wrote that thinking, 'Wait, was this Craig's post?'
  13. This is why I’m fine with moving on from Darvish. He’s waiting for the teams he really wants to be with to do what is necessary to sign him, holding up everyone else. I’d rather someone who wants to be here and not someone who begrudgingly takes an offer because there was nothing else appealing to him and he needed someplace to go.
  14. I don’t disagree with this either, one iota. There are plenty of opinions on this subject, and others, I simply don’t like, don’t agree with and think are flat out wrong. But there is still a big difference between disrespecting an opinion and an individual. If you can’t have a discussion without name calling you aren’t likely to change anyone’s opinions for the better and is not an effective strategy in a forum discussion such as this.
  15. I don't disagree, but I think what we want to be careful of is how we, well, communicate the message we want to with one another. I don't believe referring to people as stupid or idiots or knuckle draggers accomplishes that. In fact, it might detract from moving people in the direction that you want as defensiveness sets in and we reach an impasse. I, personally, want to get past the impasse and live in a world where equality is the norm and not the exception because we refuse to examine the worst in ourselves. But name calling won't get us there. And neither will broad accusations and snap judgements made on a sports message board.
  16. Darvish isn't coming here. Originally I thought it would be because we wouldn't be able to offer him the years and/or money. Now I think it's because he doesn't want to come here and no amount of an offer will change that. I think we pick up Lance Lynn.
  17. Who's going and when? Thought I'd get this out there. Something to think about other than where will Yu Darvish sign. I'll be there the week of Feb. 19 and will take in the game on the 25th before heading back home. Then I'll be there again the week of Mar. 19 and will take in all home games that week, and hopefully some minor league action.
  18. What? We won't get Kershaw? What are you talking about? Surely we'll be able to make an offer for him to play for us! You never know!!
  19. Lol ... hey, I said trash novels, not that all novels are trash, but I consider 'trash novels' a genre unto themselves and I read them all the time ... easy read escapism.
  20. Well, I wouldn't necessarily call those 'crap,' though. Now, if you were endlessly purchasing trash novels ... yes.
  21. I think it counts. Make a wish list and revisit it in a couple months ... bet there will be things that drop off it.
  22. I don’t think it’s something you can quantify like that. But if we changed everything because someone is offended, that also becomes problematic. I don’t know where the neutral zone is on any of these issues. And just to be clear, the logo absolutely was offensive. It's the generic 'Indians' that is more difficult as there is widespread disagreement to that in the Native American community.
