  1. Yeah, as Buxton ages, I'm wondering how that will change. While the sheer talent he possesses gets him a good distance right now, I'm wondering when the realization will hit that that alone won't get it done as he gets older.
  2. I don’t think he’s using Twitter to up offers. I think he uses Twitter to troll people because that’s what Twitter is a lot of the time. And I think he enjoys it because of the responses he gets and because he knows that people bring these things back to message boards like this and try to find the hidden meaning when there is none. He stated from the beginning he’s in no hurry and wants to enjoy this process because it’s the last big FA he’ll have. And when his agent gets the offer they want from the team they want he’ll sign. And I still don’t think he’ll sign with the Twins even though I am still kind of hoping he will.
  3. It’ll really pick up this coming week ... and you’ll have to take notes to tell us everything
  4. I'm fine with him going back to Texas if the Twins don't sign him. I'd rather that than Yankees, Cubs or Dodgers.
  5. I might still go see it as Daniel Day Lewis has said this was his last movie. Side story, when the CSO made the soundtrack for Lincoln, both Spielberg and Daniel Day Lewis were there during recording. Was pretty cool.
  6. That's what I have basically said from the beginning ... look at EVERYTHING and adjust accordingly. The proposal are just so ... well, seem so one-sided to me.
  7. But how many pitchers are truly that slow? I don't think that that is a rampant problem, maybe in just a few instances ... so we make everyone play a certain way because of the small handful out there? I'm more annoyed with the time between half innings and innings to make way for ads and other folly ... and that is an issue whether I'm at home or in person. Edit: that list you posted wasn't about slow pitchers, specifically ... there were a couple in there noted for their slow delivery, but otherwise it was a list of 'painful to watch' for a host of other reasons.
  8. I'm in agreement with you there. If the pace of game is a problem, then look at EVERYTHING. The pace of play isn't just from a player standpoint and if I were a player, I'd have a problem with some of these rule changes for that reason.
  9. This is part of my problem. I don't mind some adjustment, but looking for all of it to come from the play of game itself instead of some of the external causes just seems to be, well, self-serving on the part of ownership. Sorry, but ads are out of control, as is all the extra folly. Lessening the actual play time and not the other stuff just doesn't sit well with me.
  10. Which pitchers don’t try anymore? I always thought that Twins pitchers did a pretty good job of that, better than most, especially Gibson. He’s a pretty good fielding pitcher. But yeah, Kaat was great at that.
  11. I'm thinking it's more that he's a parent in the midst of potty training.
  12. I drew the line for myself after a poster suggested he posted the photo for leverage. Other than that, in the absence of anything concrete ... and, actually, in absence of even a whisper from Yu himself ... all we are left with is to speculate based on photos posted on instagram. I'm just offering a counter to the interest. I saw the tweet myself and wondered ... as I said ... in the absence of anything concrete ... Leaving us up to our own devices ... is that a good thing?
  13. I think some of you are reading too much into a photo he posted on instagram of him and friends gathered for an evening.
  14. He lives in Texas. And likely some of his former teammates do as well. And likely many are in town preparing for Texas' fan fest this coming weekend. But, maybe he's waiting until then to announce he's rejoining the Rangers. At this point, no one knows anything, and I give Yu and his agent a lot of credit for that ... keeping it pretty quiet ... even though it is MADDENING!
  15. I think he already has ... but ... not sure that will be the tie breaker
  16. I’m guessing 3 weeks at the latest.
  17. Um, how are Darvish, an established and experienced front end MLB pitcher, and Nishi, a one-time, pseudo Japanese 'star' who could never make it in the MLB, even related and worthy of being mentioned in the same conversation?
  18. If anyone else has sights and stories from the road ... please add them on!
  19. I know Bub's. Didn't know that about CK. I still remember when Happy Chef was a happenin' place!
  20. No ... it's caravan talk ... here is fine. Were they at Country Kitchen?
  21. I think it's a permanent thing, yes?
  22. My guess is the training hill ... do you know where that is? Next to the training facilities down by the minor league fields.
  23. Thanks, Halsey! I look forward to your reports each year. It's fun to hear who's there doing what ... gets me 'in the mood' for ST! I poked around last week ... fantasy camp was going on down on the minor league fields. I didn't go down that way ... didn't really have the time. No one else was really around, but then, I didn't really hang out at all.
