  1. I think if anyone went around chanting 'We're number 2' I think some would probably chuckle and nod and say, 'Okay, if you say so ... but go over there so we don't have to smell you.'
  2. Good luck to Phil.
  3. The inference was that because of that answer he (apparently) does not like to work on hitting. I’m sorry but I think that inference was way off. Buxton answered one question ... game saving catch or game winning home run. That is not asking if you prefer catching balls to hitting balls ... it was a very specific question about one catch vs one at bat, not asking about an overall like or dislike for any portion of his game. Even if he did have a preference over all, it still doesn't mean he doesn't like the other or didn't like to work on it. And the inference came from someone who has a very long history of having a low opinion of Buxton and his talents. Does Buxton need to work on hitting? Of course he does and most have said so. Even I’ve said he needs to get it going or he won’t get far. But we don’t know what he’s working on or not, what his approach is, what his like or dislike is for putting in that work. All we know is he’s far from there and Hope solutions are coming. There is no denying he’s God’s gift to center field, but he needs to find a way to get the other part going if this team is going to have the success we’ve all been hoping for.
  4. Yeah ... I see NO REASON he couldn't have taken Petit's place in AAA ... it wouldn't be forever if he's not quite there. But man ... give him a taste of the next level and see what he does with it. I just don't get that, but then, I'm not close up on the ground to the situation. Maybe those closer in want his moveups, when made, to be permanent. <shrug>
  5. I am actually more disappointed in the decisions surrounding Gordon. I get that he didn't finish well in AA last season and that they don't want to throw him into the mix in the Bigs yet. But when Petit moved up, I really wish they had moved Gordon up to AAA. When it's time for Sano to return, if Gordon isn't handling the move up well, then move him back when Petit has to be moved back. And if he's doing well, great. I really want him primed because Polanco returning in good form isn't necessarily a given.
  6. Okay ... I'm calling you out on this and am going to tell you to stop. It is a looooooooong way from that answer to 'what he does not like to work on (apparently)'. There is no apparently in that whatsoever. A game saving catch or a game winning home run? Man, I'd have a difficult time choosing between which way I could be a hero to the team ... on the field or at the plate. I'd bet if you gave him the option he'd have said 'Both.' But still ... do not make that leap to an unfounded conclusion because you will find yourself leaping but not reaching the other side and falling into nothingness. That said, yes, I am frustrated with his bat and he needs to get it going and sustain it or he is nothing but an over-hyped prospect that really never got there. I'm not sure when to give up on that, but I'm not going to make conclusions that sound more like accusations about what he is or isn't working on or more to the point, the implication that he doesn't care enough about it, as that is something you don't know. Yeah, I get it ... maybe he's not because there are the results but there could be other reasons for that. So be careful about those leaps into a player's character, because that's what you've done.
  7. Well, one could argue that my post was trolling you just a bit
  8. Well, we are working towards acceptance of new spellings ... 'of' instead of 'have,' for instance.
  9. At least you acknowledge the need for an editor.
  10. And then there are some posters you should just put on ignore ...
  11. I set a pretty high standard for myself and am often correcting my own posts a day later. And I do this after I’ve taken the time to read and reread (and reread and reread) before I hit ‘post.’ Sometimes we just aren’t perfect no matter how hard we try. What I’ve learned from the near 3 decades I’ve been a participant in internet chatter ... accept my own and each other’s imperfections, reading typo as a second language gets easier over time, and autocorrect (as well as spellcheck) is, more often than not, not my friend. While I do expect more from articles and blogs, I consider the forums the most casual part of the website and therefore take what I get with ease. As frustrating as it might be to read things that could be expressed better, I try to follow some self-imposed rules: a little tolerance goes a long way; and if you still don’t understand what the poster’s intent is, ask. It’s really very rare that there’s a post that is completely incomprehensible after a little effort on my part.
  12. In my world of performing musicians, it’s a good theory. There are always exceptions to the rule, though. But I don’t think Molitor is one of those exceptions. Not everything can be laid at his feet, but there are just too many baffling decisions and I just don’t think he knows how to put it together.
  13. I took a chance and dropped my math major to go all in on music. Worked out extremely well. And I’m going to take a chance on seeing a bad movie instead of watching the Twins play. And it’s a big chance because I will have to go outside in 45-degree, rainy weather.
  14. I think it’s a good idea. I don’t think Molitor agrees based on his comments. I think that your idea would never be considered by him, or was considered and rejected.
  15. It’s cold here tonight. Around 50 degrees. Brrrrrrrrrr!
  16. Not a great place to turn on the game.
  17. We had a couple of sessions at work ‘What to do in the event of’ and the first thing they said to do was run away if you could. Having fewer doors is the antithesis of what experts say to do.
  18. Why would Miami do that? That would be a horrible trade for them, imo.
  19. Why 893? Edit: nm. Duh! I haven’t listened to radio in Mpls for over 20 years.
