  1. By the way, there was more to that quote than that that made it a bit better than 'I don't want to see anyone.'
  2. If it had been Austin, we wouldn't have seen him play. That it's Field ... we'll see him in the lineup in Cleveland.
  3. And if this were a young guy, Molitor wouldn't play him anyway. But it's an older guy ... he'll be in the lineup today or tomorrow, is my guess.
  4. For some reason I thought she had already died. Learn something new every day. RIP.
  5. Color me disappointed, but then, that's been a color I've been wearing much of the year.
  6. Unfortunately, many of our wishes were not answered today ...
  7. If I’ve said this once I’ve said it 20 times ... one of the reason Esco was one of my favorites. He worked hard and joyfully, and was happy to do so in any and every role he was given. If that’s not being the ultimate professional I don’t know what is.
  8. I thought that was outstanding!
  9. Quit hoping for things, then, and maybe they’ll happen!
  10. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if it were him, but who knows.
  11. You should be all over these options, Brian. I mean ... positional flexibility!
  12. Yeah, we’ll see how things go on the road ...
  13. Just got up from my nap ... what happened?
  14. Meh ... Blake doesn't care what time or team ... just that there is a game, whatever the date is
  15. But can they afford Machado, Grandal and Kershaw?
  16. This is where I'm at with Gordon. I wanted him up at AAA sooner with hopes he might get a late-season call up to get some seasoning at the MLB level. But he's not ready. And is not in my plans to start next year. But I'm thinking more All-Star break time before we get a look. He's young and needs more work, but I'm not at the point with that wall being insurmountable. He's just young and not quite ready.
  17. It’s probably not coming through because this is a Dozier thread, but there is plenty of disgust for the other players throughout this forum. I mean, how many threads have there been on Sano and Buxton, and how they are being written off as busts? How many game threads are there where posters have questioned why Morrison is still on the team, and all the comments about FRE? I mean Rodney has a special acronym and it’s not because he’s been great every time. Game threads have become unbearable more times than not because they have become a dumping ground for everyone’s complaints about the team and organization as a whole. And Molitor has certainly gotten his fair share of criticism, too, deservedly so, imo. And don’t get me started on all the threads and comments there are on Mauer that polarizes this site like no one and nothing else. So no one is isolating Dozier as the sole problem, but this is a thread about him so that’s why things seem more focused on him here but they really aren’t overall. Also, when you declare yourself the leader and say stuff to the press on behalf of your team about how disappointed you are in the FO for trading away players, I find that a bit ironic and it also tends to invite more focus. And since Dozier has been a player I’ve liked way more than others, it makes it worse for me. As I said, it hurts to see him gone, but as a fan, I’m mad at him, too. Since this is a Dozier thread, this is where I’ll express that but it doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of disappointment to go around.
  18. My Mini is NOT made of plastic, I’ll have you know. Solid steel frame. And it has a big car horn, not one of those memeep Japanese car horns. Mine has a solid BMW horn.
  19. Concur. I’m about at the end of my rope with this team. I worry, though, when the GM says there’s financial flexibility to be creative. To me ... creative ... isn’t about an obvious move (Machado). But ... can’t complain about what hasn’t happened yet. But I’ll be highly critical if it’s too far short of expectations.
  20. I haven't heard anyone placing ALL the blame on him. What people are suggesting is THE PLAYERS THEMSELVES are at fault for where we are today, and Dozier is but one. And since he is the one who was calling out the FO for 'quitting' on them (my words, not his, but the gist was the same), people are going to come back with he didn't produce. I get how it sounds as if people are placing the blame on his shoulders, they aren't. But the are bumping back against his 'disappointment' in the FO when he (and the rest of the team) are to blame for the bad performance. And I say this as one who's always really liked Dozier. And it hurts to see him gone. But, as a fan, I'm mad at him, too.
  21. As I said, I’m wondering. This is just a theory, why I used the phrase ‘I’m wondering.’ Dozier certainly is a role model in who he was and how he went about playing the game. Looking up to him and respecting him, though, are different than being a leader. When he assumed the role from Torii there wasn’t anyone else to do that. He stepped up, again, an admirable thing. And the guys around him, for the most part, saw and accepted that torch pass. Or mostly. New guys may not have, and/or younger players getting older may have pushed back and I wonder if Brian had the true leadership skills to deal with it. Again, just wondering. I loved Dozier. He wasn’t a favorite like Escobar was and Eddie still is, but something didn’t work this year, if all these reports are true. Teams are always going to be adding new players to the mix and it is both sides that need to adjust to the changes.
  22. Right. And I’m wondering if he was getting push back from some of the players leading to conflict. Again, not saying it’s Dozier’s fault by any means. Most of you know how much I liked him. But, I wonder if it was a role not fully suited to him? Torii would have put people in their places, whether not that was a good way, but there was no questioning his ... ‘authority’ ... for lack of a bette way to put it. Dozier was just a good guy and you liked him because he was a good, amiable guy who worked really hard. And people gravitated toward that, making him the de facto leader, but I wonder if he really had the right quality to lead some of the personalities in that club house. Again, not pointing at Dozier here as the one at fault, but I could see that as causing problems.
  23. Wish I knew more, but know I won’t ever. I also wonder about Dozier’s leadership abilities. I don’t say that to point a finger at him, because I’m not. I say it because he seemed to step into a role when there clearly wasn’t anyone, and maybe he assumed a role that wasn’t fully suited to him? Right or wrong, I could see where that would lead to problems, especially with some of the new people coming in.
  24. That give s me mixed emotions, tbh.
