  1. Well ... we're not going to get every single clutch hit possible or we'd have zero in the loss column. Just pointing out that it's not that we never get clutch hits, because we do.
  2. Dude ... game isn't over yet. Rain on the parade after we've gone home.
  3. oooh ... riiiiight ... forgot about that one. Not sure how since we have so few of them.
  4. The ST schedule is out. https://www.mlb.com/twins/news/twins-2020-spring-training-schedule-released
  5. You mean like Schoop's two-run homer just the other day?
  6. Lol ... it took me a minute to see this. It was margarita Monday here and I was out with friends.
  7. Heh ... I'll have to dig up an article I read recently about thermostat wars at work. Women are more productive when it's warmer, men when it's colder. So ... how do you find the right compromise? That said, yes, when you are out, keep it at whatever is energy saving (warmer in the summer, cooler in the winter), comfortable when you are awake and home, but I've always had it cooler when I'm sleeping. That said, unless it's really humid out, I don't close the windows and turn on the AC until it's above 80.
  8. That was the White Sox song during the 2005 season. And the owner actually had Journey come and sing at the rally after the victory parade.
  9. Hahaha ... Dear Dave St. Peter: We need a song that becomes our tradition, to sing at the stretch at Target Field, like Texas has 'Deep in the Heart', and the SF Giant sing 'Lights of the City' and they sing 'Sweet Caroline' at Fenway. I think the new Target Field tradition should be 'Baby Shark' and we can all get into it. So much fun! Sincerely, Twins Fan
  10. How many teams have their own 'traditional song'? I've only been to two that had a 'regular thing', that team's tradition, and the whole crowd got into it. So much fun.
  11. Did they do ‘Deep in the Heart of Texas’? That used to be a mainstay and everyone got into it. In San Fran it’s ‘Lights of the City’ and everyone gets into it. I just really dislike these ‘performances’ in the middle of the game. Before or after? Great. Whenever they break and say ‘and now so and so will sing ...’ I groan. More often than not it’s a terrible rendition of whatever. Sometimes it’s so augmented you can’t sing along. And there are times I’ve been shushed for singing along so some do think we’re all just supposed to stand there and listen to the performance. We’re there for the game. Let’s do the traditional thing and move on. That’s just how I feel about it.
  12. I realize I probably started this back and forth with my comment "But don’t get me started on the singing ‘God Bless America’ at all. Or turning these moments into spectacles rather than all of us participating", so I'm going to remind everyone ... this isn't about anyone's individual patriotism, so let's not go there. I'm not a fan of the song, never have been, and think Irving Berlin has done much, much, much better than this composition. And I cringe when I hear it. For me, it's not about being patriotic or not, it's just ... ugh ... there are better songs out there, imo. If you want to stay with the patriotic theme, 'America the Beautiful' for instance, is just a beautiful song. Further, at these moments in the game, I think fans should be encouraged to participate ... whether it's singing this song, or any other song ... and this moment has been turned into 'concertizing' rather than encouraging fan participation or appreciation. I just don't like that aspect. At all. And it has nothing to do with my or anyone else's patriotism. Also, 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' has been that tradition for so many years, and I don't like that being supplanted. Again, it has nothing to do with my or anyone else's patriotism. But back to the article ... whatever the song ... I feel for the performer as one myself. But he'd probably have done better with a better song to sing. And it has nothing to do with my or anyone else's patriotism. So let's not go there.
  13. Thanks, Nick. I like these weekly reviews ... perfect for being busy and having less time to read everything everywhere ... these are great.
  14. Well, there is stress of being on a MLB roster for the first time, which is more mental than physical but can affect the physical. Heezy did a great article on shoulder impingements, btw, that I think is worth reading. I'm more wary of shoulder injuries and how it goes than a simple bout of tendonitis. I didn't suggest he not be added this year, but I did suggest we don't need to call him up NOW, TODAY, THIS WEEK as some seem to have implied in their posts. I said to give him some time at AAA and see how he does and see how his shoulder is. Then add him to the 40-man before the deadline and call him up in September. As long as he's on the 40-man by September 1st he can be used in the playoffs, I believe. I'm saying have a little patience and let him pitch some in AAA first and see how he does. If all goes well, perhaps we'll see him in the 3rd or 4th week of August, and for sure in September.
  15. There's an article out on Graterol that you can access from the front page or in the Twins Minor League forum. It shows him hitting 103mph. http://twinsdaily.com/topic/34517-front-page-brusdar-graterol-hits-103-mph-is-promoted-to-aaa/
  16. I'm all for pre-recorded and for fans to participate. I'm not for making each singing some sort of 'concert' or 'performance.' And I'm NOT for singing these things like dirges ... pick a tempo that is conducive to participation rather than to show off your skills. This is why I'd prefer the National Anthem be sung once at the first game of the series ... for all of us ... so it has true meaning, for all of us ... and not have to endure these horrible 'concertizing' spectacles. I find that more disrespectful than anything.
  17. I think that is the absolute wrong call. Coming off a stint on the IL with a shoulder impingement, I don't want him to press, as he would if called up. I want to see how he handles AAA this month. If it's going great, then we add him to the 40 (he has to be added anyway in the off-season, yes?), in time so we can use him in the playoffs if we want to, but give him the September call up to see how he does in the majors. I think patience is warranted here because of his summer injury. A shoulder impingement is a bit more concerning than bicep tendonitis and I don't want to cause more damage.
  18. Ugh. Every performer has those moments. I’ve played enough recitals to know, and when they happen to others, I feel their horrified and disappointed ‘I blew it’ pain. But don’t get me started on the singing ‘God Bless America’ at all. Or turning these moments into spectacles rather than all of us participating.
  19. On the other hand, I met Patrick Stewart, too ... he loved the references.
  20. Depends ... there is a line to divide old and young. I put that line at ... 63 ... if you are 63 or older, you're old. If you are younger than 63, you're not. Yet.
  21. I met him. Didn't want to be reminded of being Q, and I didn't remind him.
  22. I think he was saying that I'm the one like Q ...
  23. If you know the answer to that, you aren't getting old, you are old.
