  4. I think 'big deal' has different connotations. As I said, I don't think he needs to be tarred and feathered or made an example of, so, no, not a big deal in those terms. However, I think it is a big deal in terms of ... I hope he's learned a lesson about thoughtless, racist gestures and not to do it again. That's it for me. These things shouldn't be a 'go to' or 'common place' for anyone, and it doesn't sound like it is for him, at all ... but it's time we get past the 'Oh, he didn't mean it that way' as an excuse to let it go by. I mean, perhaps most of us have done the Nazi 'heil' at some point in our lives, jokingly ... and maybe it's time we learn, that some things just shouldn't be made a joke, because of what they truly represent.
  5. That's a really bad comparison and you know it. While I'm not sure he meant it, momentarily 'forgot', or whatever ... I'd like to get to a point where something is so ingrained it's not something you 'forget', but maybe that's impossible. I don't know. But, I think it is a big deal. I'm not saying the guy should be tarred and feathered, but I also hope that he really learned something from his momentary thoughtlessness and understands that and never does it again. The minute we start levying excuses such as 'Oh, he didn't mean it' doesn't really ingrain the idea of 'don't ever do it again' and just why it isn't good to momentarily forget such things.
  6. It's a warm, but breezy, lazy afternoon here ... good time for a game
  7. Please join us for the game thread tonight! Fun, cheers, and whatnot ... talk baseball, talk life ... all are welcome! http://twinsdaily.com/topic/39637-game-thread-twins-royals-605pm-cdt-882020ad/
  8. Whoooooaaaa! Great Cave!
  9. I know this sounds horrible, but you are better off not feeding the strays. Feeding them helps their reproductive systems ... unless you are going to trap and spay/neuter ... it's actually not helpful to just keep feeding strays as it adds to the stray population. They also then become dependent on you for food.
  10. You were not the only one who expressed concerns, so this kind of 'I told you so' post really serves no purpose
  11. No one responded to the study because the source of study was a bit iffy (in that it was difficult to determine the basis of the organization it came from) and didn't seem like something on which to base one's entire opinion of the virus, given all the resources out there. Doing that seems to point to having an opinion and finding one study to justify it; or liking the conclusions of one study and going with only that. That level of holding an opinion can't really be debated or discussed. That said ... 'This country thinks the virus kills 9% of those that get it.' No, this country does not. You are in this country, yes?, and you don't. I don't and I'm a citizen. It's those kinds of statements that lead nowhere and are not sourced in anything correct but you stating hyperbole. If you want to have a discussion on the virus, false and misleading data points are not acceptable. You can believe what you want to, no one is stopping you ... but be careful in how you state these opinions for public consumption at TD. With more being learned every day through scientific research, we all need to be very cautious in how we present our opinions and not base them in hyperbole. That said ... I'm going to ask you, Levi and everyone ... to agree to disagree. This is not a debate to the death of absolutes. For me the bottom line is ... too much unknown at this point so being cautious, diligent, reading whatever I can and following experts' directives or following leaders' policies based on those directive seems the way to go for today. Anyone is welcome to disregard anything they want, but this is not the place for misleading, disproven or hyperbolic statements. As for making this political ... everyone ... don't.
  12. Yeah ... my guess is if it bothered the players, it would be gone. I simply don't notice it, but I'm usually not watching the game all that carefully ... I'm listening while doing other things. The one thing about that that's off this year ... through crowd noises you could tell if something major is about to happen/is happening/happened, so I knew when to pay attention ... that's absent this year. But, I think someone above posted the correct suggestion ... write to Dave St. Peter. Make your voices heard. Maybe we are a small minority? (Doubtful, but I suppose it's possible.) It's certainly fine to commune with one another our displeasure, but, we all could do something about it, too. I, for one, want a game where the organist is there ... I will write about that because ... it's yet another musician out of work and it wouldn't be that big of a deal to have her come in every so often. She could play 'Take me out to the Ballgame' at the 7th inning ... and get the players to sing along ... I'm sure Romo could lead the bullpen in that. Not sure how well the 'Charge' call would go, though, without fans present ... but I still think that would be something to try.
  13. I don't get these complacency charges you and Darius made ... we won 3 out of 4, had a walk off in there, some good plays, some good efforts, some good hits ... so some 'vibe' you feel says complacency? Are you in the dugout or the clubhouse to feel this? If not, it's just putting a spin on a loss without real concrete evidence.
  14. Even though you clarified this statement, I think still this was the jinx ... :/
