  1. I know you were being sarcastic, but neither Castro nor Miranda need injuries … Solano, however …
  2. If you want to discuss the topic, discuss the topic. Mahle’s injury and the trade go hand in hand because he was an injury risk a year ago and here we are. If you don’t like a topic, or have nothing to add to it, don’t post and move onto a topic you do want to discuss. Feel free to add your thoughts about his injury and his prognosis. But since I know you not to be a doctor, I wonder what you have to add that is nothing more than speculation. But feel free to speculate about his injury.
  3. Thank you for that perspective because that’s exactly what’s being said. Now you’ve made me feel a little better about a trade I’d still make without the hindsight … lol
  4. And that’s all fair, even if I or others chose a different move. It’s how this site exists … disagreeing and discussing those disagreements.
  5. Given who was available for the cost … Montas would have cost more and there was iffyness there, too, as he had already been on the IL that year … would you have chosen to do nothing? And I’m not suggesting that would have been a bad thing, just wondering what your move, or no move would have been at the time.
  6. I get that and that’s all fine for 2024, but I’m thinking now, 2023, maybe give Gallo and Kepler less playing time now because they aren’t in the plans for 2024? Maybe one of them will be moved at the deadline. But that doesn’t help the situation today. It’s unfortunate for Larnach. He didn’t draw the short straw, he was left with it. But, I think the reset will do him good. But more of this is coming, it’s just a crowded roster, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but is a constant jigsaw puzzle.
  7. I’m wondering if it will be Miranda sent down for Farmer (and think it should be), but, that still doesn’t resolve the Kirilloff and Larnach problem. I wonder if they are trying to work a trade in there somewhere. They will have to do something with Lewis knocking on the door in the not-so-distant future.
  8. Yeah, first of all, the flurry of moves was confusing, And I didn’t even know Thielbar was hurting, so that was a surprise. And Larnach the casualty, which is really too bad. But what was the solution? Maybe not add/bring up Rodriguez and go one pitcher short for a small bit? Send down Castro and use Gordon as the backup SS? Then who gets playing time and who sits? Just rotate Larnach, Kirilloff, Kepler and Gallo? Every 4th game one of them sits? Or keep Kirilloff at AAA until someone gets injured or traded or DFA’d? When Farmer comes up I’m guessing Castro goes down. Maybe we could have sent Castro down now, if they are reasonably sure Farmer is up soon, but we still then would have to make a choice. And we won’t be going short a pitcher for for more than a game or two, so something had to give. So, what is the solution?
  9. The Mahle trade was definitely in the high risk category. I have some difficulties talking in terms of ‘winning’ and ‘losing’ because I don’t view trades as a competition with our trading partners, only competition with ourselves. We want to improve. I think over all we have, but in the two steps forward, one back category, this is definitely the step back
  10. If he returns … hope he does, but sadly, for him and for us, at this point, I’m not going to count on it.
  11. Yep. No one ‘wins’ them all, and there is risk involved in any trade. Do you not make the trade? I know there were some who didn’t like the trade then, so kudos to them. But when you are a team who won’t spend on pitching in the FA market, trade and development is all that is left. It’s a game of risk that mid-market teams have to play. Given the same situation, without hindsight involved, I’d have still made that trade then. Many were ecstatic over the trade, many wanted Montas, many wanted to sign pitchers who are seriously not living out their contracts (I wanted to sign Rodón). So here we are. Let’s hope Ryan, Gray and Lopez continue keeping us in it, and Ober, Varland and SWR contribute.
  12. Yep, hindsight, but yep, looking brutal. I was actually more disappointed, at the time, for losing CES. But, at the time, also thought it was the right move. Most did, some didn’t. We needed a starter last year, there weren’t many available. Mahle was maybe the 2nd best available? Many wanted us to give up more for Montas. If you want a silver lining, at least we didn’t do that.
  13. Are you sure? You’ve been laughing at a lot of posts here
  14. You do realize you voted yes, yes?
  15. That was pretty funny, except for the ‘his’ part 🥸
  16. You do you … the closest DQ closes at 10 … I think I can make it. All the roads around me are messed up for that stupid NASCAR urban road race
  17. Ick is the word you are looking for, but close
  18. Chicken Blizzards for everyone!
  19. You at least have one nearer to you than I do
