  1. I'm surprised we don't seen a batter throw the bat towards a pitcher more often. i'm not saying it should happen but when a pitcher is clearly throwing an object at you 90 + MPHs I'm just surprised batters don't use the bat more.
  2. Definitely a good debate but I don't know how you go about making the change. Would he be worth anything in a trade? Do you DFA him? I'd probably wait until we're closer to the deadline to make a change and if Garver is still doing well you definitely want to get him some experience in the MLB this season.
  3. There is zero reason to DFA Gibson with how thin the Twins SP depth is. He's 28 or 29 and has one option year left after this season.
  4. Yea it doesn't seem like he's accusing him of anything. More just stating what he saw when Berrios would get a new ball.... seems like trying to make this a bigger issue than it really is.
  5. Did I watch the same Wild team as everyone else this season? Scandella was aweful. He was terrible in every aspect of the game. Wasn't physical, turned pucks over all season and didn't put up any points. He played better in the playoffs but was still on the ice consistently when the other team scored. On defense you protect Suter, Spurgeon and Dumba. Olefsson can replace Brodin.
  6. Is it just me or does the NBA have the most confusing set up contract rules compared to all of the other professional leagues?
  7. Does Gibson have an option left? If he does would it be worth sending him down to AAA to try and figure everything out?
  8. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning....
  9. Also, remember Twins fans, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
  10. I'm calling it. Mauer goes 2 - 4 with a double and 2 run homerun.
  11. Just so you're aware the saying "butt hurt" can be considered a homophobic slur by some people. I'm not saying you're homophobic but just letting you know that some people consider it as much. Really the only reason I'm pointing this out is to make a point that what people say doesn't always mean they're being racist or homophobic. What Kinsler said might have come out wrong when he said it. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt as I haven't seen a pattern from him to suggest that he is in fact racist.
  12. Does anyone know how Stuart Turner has been doing during sprint training?
  13. What scares me the most with keeping all of the "adequate" veteran players around for the start of the season is that 22 of the first 25 games of the season are against the Central Division. If the Twins are keeping players around who aren't as good as some of these young guys just for veteran leadership and they get off to a bad start the season is going to be over before the end of April.
  14. Arrieta: 2.42 ERA, 2.72 FIP, 9.15 K/9, 2.55 BB/9 Darvish: 3.20 ERA, 2.94 FIP, 11.55 K/9, 2.94 BB/9 Cueto: 2.80 ERA, 3.26 FIP, 8.21 K/9, 2.08 BB/9 Tanaka: 3.12 ERA, 3.53 FIP, 8.18 K/9, 1.54 BB/9 Tillman: 3.99 ERA, 4.22 FIP, 6.68 K/9, 3.19 BB/9 Pineda: 4.10 ERA, 3.42 FIP, 9.20 K/9, 1.77 BB/9 Cobb: 3.54 ERA, 3.51 FIP, 7.88 K/9, 2.58 BB/9 I would target Darvish, Pineda and Cobb. I'm not a fan of most pitchers who put up great numbers in the NL with zero success in the AL. Darvish and Pineda both have the K/9 I'd like to see the Twins target and Cobb is intriguing because he had good numbers prior to his injury.
  15. I think that's what makes this a good move. This means they don't have to reach in the draft for a running back. He might not be the best running back in the league but he's put up solid numbers. He missed a few games last season and had only 195 rushing attempts last season, which is pretty low compared to other top running backs. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/stats/playersort/nfl/year-2016-season-regular-category-rushing With the moves the Vikings have made the last 3 days I'd say they should still draft: 2OL 1DT 1RB 1CB 1LB 1P 1TE
  16. I completely forgot we need a punter as well. Maybe we sign another CB or DT in free agency and then don't draft one in April.
  17. I feel like the Vikings have made solid moves so far this offseason. Both OT's spots and LG are set. They could probably sign another interior lineman and DT for depth. Then for the draft, 8 picks, I'd go: 2 offensive lineman 1 running back 1 defensive lineman 1 safety 1 corner back 1 tight end 1 line backer I wouldn't draft in the order specifically but I did list the positions in order of importance / need.
  18. Yea. I was just reviewing his career numbers and they're terrible. Joe Mixon is an interesting option and I wonder how far he'll fall in the draft. I'd really like Dalvin Cook, but not sure we'd have enough to trade up for him.
  19. Now the Vikings just need to draft an OT and OG in the upcoming draft for some depth. It's nice they're actually addressing these needs this offseason and hopefully they pan out. What does everyone think of Eddie Lacy?
  20. I believe he was 19th, but that doesn't really prove anything. Here's a list of QB's with a higher yards per completion average that didn't make the playoffs: https://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/player-passing-yards-per-attempt-statistics/2016/ 1. Cousins 2. Luck 3. Brees 4. Mariota 5. Rivers 6. Dalton 7. Winston 8. Palmer The Giants and Texans both made the playoffs even though they had worse numbers. I'm also going to go back to every QB on the list above Bradford, with the exception of Dak Prescott, had been with the same team for at least 2 years. Prescott also had all offseason, training camp and preseason to play with his team.
  21. I don't know if that's all that accurate of a statement. Bradford threw for 3,877 yards last year in only 15 games. If you take his average yardage per game for 16 games he had the 12th most passing yards at 4,135. 5th place only had 200 passing yards more than him at 4,386. Plus you add in the fact he was traded for roughly 10 days prior to his first start and had absolutely no offensive line or run game to balance out the offense. Give him the offseason to prepare with the WR's and TE's with a better offensive line and he should do even better.
  22. Steep price, but this is supposed to be a really weak draft. Also, the wild have a very deep farm system right now with Kunin, Greenway, Kaprizov, Ek and Sokolov. All of these players should be going pro either next season or the season after that. This is going to make the Wild very deep down the middle and will push Coyle back to the wing and push Haula down to the 4th line.
  23. This will become very interesting. First move would be to see if Pommer waives his NMC - he won't be selected by Las Vegas, but it would be a move to allow the team to keep Zucker. They would then protect Stall, Koivu, Parise, Granlund, Zucker, Nino and Coyle on offense and Suter, Spurgoen and either Dumba or Brodin. I would hate to lose either Dumba or Brodin so this will be a tough call. I think Dumba would be the tougher player to replace because he's offensive minded and also a right handed shot, so I would probably protect him. The left shot Defense on the team include Suter, Brodin, Scandella, Olofsson and Reilly. The right shot Defense on the team include Spurgeon, Dumba, Folin and Prosser. The order of the players above is also how I would currently rank them. As I said before I would hate to lose Brodin, but with the Wild being deeper on the left shot defense he's "easier" to replace. As a side note I'm really high on Olofsson and I think he'll be a very good player. I also can't stand Reilly... he's terrible at everything but skating.
  24. I think you also have to include Duffey in the bullpen conversation. To me there are plenty of young arms that need to be looked at against MLB hitting and I wouldn't want to block them
  25. Just wanted to throw this out there. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 1m1 minute ago Sources: #Dodgers, #Twins remain in dialogue about a Brian Dozier trade, although no deal is imminent. @MLB @MLBNetwork
