  1. The difficulty is the same for every team. Maybe you could could share with the board, the who and why, you feel these 2 teams are superior in this regard.
  2. TR's first draft back in 2012 was a strong one. Take a look at how well the 2013 draft matured this season. When all is said and done, all of TR's drafts will be good ones.
  3. Excellent example. Theo had kind of the same thing happen with the Cubbies. A lot can happen on the way to Target Field.
  4. The point is, we were the second youngest team in baseball last season based on weighted playing time. The current farm system is very deep, with most of the future star power being teenagers. Our franchise couldn't possibly be more healthy.
  5. He took starting pitching with picks 3, 4, and 5 in the 2017 draft and followed that up by picking up 4 arms at the trade deadline. Castro and Gimenez, like all players brought in by our FO, are board scapegoats, but very inspired pickups to work with our young pitchers. Roman wasn't built in a long weekend.
  6. One trade is not going to gut our farm system. I understand free agency is only money and when we lose several of our future stars to free agency it will be only money. Let's save our only money to pay our future stars as much as possible and not spent 10-20+ times as much on those not named Buxton or Sano.
  7. Actually, the rebuild is over. Fine tuning etc., never ends, but our favorite team will be in the hunt every year for the forseeable future. I can't think of any mid-market team that has ever done a complete rebuild in only 6 years. This is TR's greatest accomplishment and I do expect he'll be offered a position once again this off season or no later than next. Falvey said it recently. They need to create a different type of organization, because neither he not Levine have anywhere near TR's scouting expertise.
  8. Our draft position due to poor results has yielded us Buxton, Stewart, Gordon, Jay, and Lewis. The last 4 still have bright futures. How do you figure they had more to spend on IFA than most teams? This is the first year of the hard cap, and it's not even close to being over. Few teams have had as good of results as we've had in IFA.
  9. That package will get us a youngish 2/3 starting pitcher, and there are any number that will be acceptable to me. I don't need the most expensive thing on the menu.
  10. Yes they do and they did last off season also. They could easily package Gonsalves, Stewart, Gordon, Romero, etc.
  11. For those keeping score at home, TR drafted starting pitching in 2013, at 1,2,4, and 5. The 2013 draft is maturing well and has a chance to be as strong as our 2012 draft. The new regime in 2017, took starting pitching at 3,4, and 5, and then followed that up by picking up 4 arms at the trade deadline. I certainly agree we need to make a mega-trade this off season for a 2/3 starting pitcher, but let's not pretend they haven't been moving in the right direction for quite some time.
  12. Why would I care what other people say? You asked, I answered. No need to ask the same question next year. In fact I would have given the same answer last off season. I have approximately 25 members on my ignore list. You'd be surprised how much better information I receive, since I don't see half the posts.
  13. The Twins have all kinds of assets in the farm system at this very moment. No need to ask the question again.
  14. Actually we just finished year 6 of the rebuild, and were in the hunt 2 of the 6 years. The Astros started 2 years before we did. The Cubbies are a large market team, and if a large market team is firing on all cylinders, we can't compete with them.
  15. Andy MacPhail aways said develop arms, buy bats. Regardless, I would open up the farm system and make the mega-trade for a youngish 2/3 starting pitcher. I really don't care which prospects they trade, but my preference is not to include Gonsalves or board scapegoat Kohl Stewart.
  16. We got more for John Ryan Murphy, than we got for board favorites Pinto, Arcia, and soon to depart Vargas combined. Arizona chose board scapegoat Murphy over board favorite Garver.
  17. I would sign Kintzler and also bring back Belisle. They will keep us in the hunt until our future closer surfaces and save us from overspending. I've said before, at some point in time, pitching becomes a numbers game. We have the numbers working for us.
  18. He didn't become a world beater until after the All-Star break. Plenty of time.
  19. That's called the ebb and flow of the season. He has shown absolutely no signs of decline. I do understand this is disappointing to some members of the board, but I heard the same nonsense after last season.
  20. Actually, free agent pitchers come in many price ranges, and we have a very deep farm system we can certainly use in trades. Save the big money for our 6 young stars. I can't believe how many members still confuse free agency with Christmas.
  21. I would lock up Sano and Buxton, as long as possible, hopefully this off season, but no later than next. Berrios I would wait on because all pitchers have injury concerns. It doesn't have to be done anytime soon, but feel you will need to choose between Rosario and Kepler at some point in time. I look at Polanco as the odd man out, because it certainly appears we have an abundance of middle infielders in the pipeline. If we keep the right 4, we should be able to extend the window. Masterful job of accumulating talent by Terry Ryan.
  22. There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.
  23. In your dreams. 5 of the players you listed have no trade value. The good news is we only need one.
  24. Completely agree. The elephant in the room is Longoria contracts.
