  1. If someone considered him to be a 2-3 starter or a future closer, no doubt TR would trade him. Believe both May and Kepler are all but off the table, due to their versatility. I posted on another thread, Berrios and Polanco would be the first to go.
  2. Someone who gets it!
  3. Board favorite Berrios was an overdraft. Except for the Drew Butera trade, I'm trying to remember one that was favorably received by the board. Could you refresh my memory? Have we ever signed a free agent that was favorably received?
  4. I can't imagine our favorite team would spent 4M on a 16 year-old they didn't think was #1. Ben Balder at BA didn't have any problem with the pick. How much agreement is there on American made picks at 16 years-olds?
  5. The hallmark of a great organization is rebuilding in less than 4 years.
  6. I'm guessing they rehab Meyer as a starter. After Berrios, I don't see a top starting prospect until Stewart and Gonsalves. Any starting pitcher we bring up now, needs to be able to step into a pennant race. I feel we need to stick with Meyer until we absolutely can't, because we do have numbers on our side for power relievers in our farm system.
  7. Well written. Role players and/or placeholders are important components of teams also.
  8. I'm hoping once Berrios makes it to Target Field, Meyer becomes next man up.
  9. The harder you work, the luckier you get. Duffey is a fine example.
  10. As Terry Ryan would say, these things have a way of working themselves out.
  11. There is a huge difference between common sense and contorting. That a 21 year-old, while in AA in June, and then promoted to AAA in early July where he did experience some growing pains in his first two starts, should have been on a innings count in said June and July, is beyond silly.
  12. Today on Twins Insider, TR stated Duffey making The Show this season came as a surprise. Some time ago on another episode, he said Duffey is having a better season than Berrios and that's why he was promoted to Target Field. As I have previously posted, he challenged the number crunchers to take a look at the numbers. It follows that Berrios innings were not restricted in June or July because he was behind Duffey and not on the immediate radar. Is this enough to debunk the growing myth, or do you and the guys still feel the need to hold on to it?
  13. Meyer crapped the bed early in the season and it quickly turned to dysentery. As I recall he only started looking like he belonged in Rochester the final 2 weeks. Without revising history, tell me how Berrios' innings could have been managed.
  14. I think there is a good possibility we see both in the pen at the start of next season. May in the backend, Duffey as long/swing man. I understand the fan board would like to see May, Duffey, and Berrios in the starting rotation, but there are other combinations which are more likely to help us obtain our goal, of getting into the World Series.
  15. You don't rebuild a team in less than 4 years with poor roster management. There is a much bigger picture out there, let me give you a big picture example. I may be missing someone, but I believe only Buxton and Duffey have made it to The Show in TR's 4 drafts. It now appears the 2012 Draft was a strong one, and though it is too early to grade his next 3 drafts, we do know they are topped off with a high pick. The point is, he has taken our favorite team from multi-year rebuilt to in the hunt without the benefit of the traditional source of improvement for mid-market teams, the draft. The best is yet to come.
  16. Win or lose, nothing could possibly be more beneficial than to have our favorite team playing meaningful games this time of the season. Evaluations of our current players, and even our new manager, are much more valid while in the hunt.
  17. I agree, our favorite team is positioned perfectly.
  18. At this point in time, our favorite team has little margin for error offensively. Once Buxton becomes a terror, which I'm still holding out hope will happen yet this year, we gain a fair amount of breathing room.
  19. Every 13 years or so, it does appear The Twins Way let's us down.
  20. If I'm not mistaken we considered Storen in the Rule 4 draft also. I believe Duffey and Pressly will strengthen the pen next year, with Graham first man up. For lefties, I like Cotts resume. I don't think we will spent big, because our farm system should start spewing out power arms left and right at some point next season.
  21. Only the Twins are in position to measure leadership and team chemistry.
  22. The May spot start was a one shot deal, so it didn't concern me at all. May to the pen saved our season and is the only thing preventing talk of 90 losses for five consecutive seasons from our friends on the board.
