  1. And my boy Eeles! Doesn't get a lot of mention, but don't anybody sleep on this guy!
  2. I played short and second in the salad days of the Mesozoic era. Later on, moving to LA and playing over-40 ball along with some ex-major leaguers, played a lot of 3rd. All I cared about was having a big target who could catch the damn ball. Why is that so hard at the MLB level? Royce would be a good option, especially since his throwing appears to be an Achilles heel.
  3. Make that four! I went in with shortness of breath, hopeless optimism, and persistent, underlying sadness, but didn't know what it was! πŸ˜‚
  4. Oh, my, sentenced to the White Sox. That's like doing time in stir.... πŸ˜…
  5. Not only good contact with speed, but he and his family had some major dance hits back in the 80s- "Rhythm of the Night" still gets my toes tapping.
  6. This echoes my own sinking feeling, like a Margot 2.0 situation. And when Keirsey starts lighting up AAA? What then? A young fast, true CF whose only crime is being a LH hitter? Still plays, methinks.
  7. Looks like we got the right guy. For more $ than the other two.
  8. πŸ˜‚ "Congratulations to this year's winner of the Byron Buxton's Injury History MLB Outfielder Fellowship." Downright Lardner-esque! 🀣
  9. I'm addicted to podcasts. One of my current faves is "Owned," by former NBA-er Rex Chapman, wherein he tells stories of those very billionaires who own various sports teams, for better or worse. He did one on Matt Ishbia, which was downright inspiring. If you want to know more about his backstory, from a MSU basketball walk-on under Tom Izzo, to owning the Suns and beyond, give a listen. If nothing else, it's highly entertaining, and you can hear from the man himself. Sorry about the long URL- but if you're a podcast listener, it's easy to look up "Owned." https://chrt.fm/track/288D49/stitcher.simplecastaudio.com/c3239830-c047-4fe7-9672-a3d0d5d083c8/episodes/c809b49a-7f68-4cd8-bbe1-b6643a9d2ba6/audio/128/default.mp3?aid=rss_feed&awCollectionId=c3239830-c047-4fe7-9672-a3d0d5d083c8&awEpisodeId=c809b49a-7f68-4cd8-bbe1-b6643a9d2ba6&feed=iXhf4wYJ
  10. It doesn't matter what his history or stats are. The most important ingredient to the Twins' front office are the words "non-tendered." AKA- "cheap."
  11. He was one of my fave Twins as a little guy. I liked him because he had red hair and looked like my Uncle Red. Plus, he played for the Pilots! How cool is that?
  12. They wouldn't possible trade him, but Royce needs to suck it up next term. It didn't take him long to go from Jeter Jr. to Danny Valencia in my eyes. Attitude included.
  13. This is exactly what the Dodgers did to win that series. Their scouting indicated that if they put pressure on, put the ball in play, the yanks would muck it up somehow. As a team on the bubble, I don't know why you wouldn't be at least competent in the all-around game.
  14. As an old fart, this lack of a basic baseball skill is a disgrace. You don't have to worry (unless you're in the low minors) about making rent, or the grocery bill. You're not asked to be a student-athlete and keep up in class at the same time. Your only focus is playing ball. Why in the hell would you not have the desire within yourself, if not as a team mandate, to hone your game? Bunting is back in vogue as a strategy, and once again, the Twinks are well behind the curve. The old Hollywood stars got schooled in all areas, singing, dancing, acting, and could carry any of those skills with competence. Now we're down to NFL-style one-trick ponies. Makes me burn. Get a damn coach to tour those minors and get people down to the task. Don't we still have a HOFΓ©r roaming around somewhere?
  15. For me, the Less Evil Empire won. That was a heck of a final game, too! In my heirarchy of hate-watching, I always root for the greater evil to lose in front of their own fans. It was pretty sweet to watch all those pinstriped nimrods eat ****! πŸ€£βšΎπŸ˜‚ That stuff aside, no way even at full strength do our Twins stay on the field with either of those teams. Got some work to do. Are the pohlads gone yet, or will that be tomorrow?
  16. This is the case around the world, but that's the nature of American sport- soccer, rugby, etc, have non-stop action, not breaks every few moments where somebody tries to sell you some beer or a truck. Therefore, all during the broadcast the logos on the uniforms appear constantly. When I first started working overseas, it peeved me off, but I soon caught on. For example- NFL game: 3:10 minutes of action: 11 MLB: with the new rules, 2:36 action: 18 minutes Soccer + rugby pretty similar: 1:55, action: 57 minutes Heck, even my local rugby club gear (even the pre-game warm-up kit!) is covered in sponsor logos, and we're never on TV! I don't even know what most of these businesses are, except for the one on the back of the shorts: "Taboo"- a Filipino music and dance club in the heart of steamy Wan Chai! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
  17. It's something of a hate-watch world series, but golly, those were 2 dang good ballgames! Heh... I enjoyed Yamamoto + interpreter post-game interview. Nice to know baseball cliches transcend any language! βšΎπŸ˜‚
  18. Likewise. I guess I gotta go with the Lesser-Evil-Empire. Plus, I used to live there, and found a path in an old neighborhood nearby where I could park my bike and sneak thru a gap in the fence for a beautiful LA evening with a Dodger Dog and those Garlic Fries, omg.... After the game, down the hill, thru the fence, mount the bike, then home to South Pasadena about 10 minutes later. πŸ˜‚
  19. Ahhh, fooey on that Luis Gil guy. We got prime Jake Cave, with a robust .708 OPS, which was far more valuable than any potential staff ace.
  20. Speed is one big priority, to be sure. But in-house candidates far outshine those listed. Just as an example, Keirsey should have been up all year, and Margot should never have darkened our doorway.
  21. and again-- it's a clicking error!
