  1. Oh, how we all miss Small Sample Size Super-Pelf from earlier this year. He seems to show up about every 3rd or 4th start, and give everyone hope again, then he descends back to Big Sample Size Regular-Pelf. Oh, well.
  2. Just got a break at work, so catching up on the game that I so luckily missed. Actually, it's OK, I have no hair left to tear out, anyway. I do see from the box that 'Gulfa' Tonkin had a Snapper Mow-Em-Down inning. Seems like the grass got a little long in between cuts, tho....
  3. Just had time for a quick check of the game. Ahhh, Pelf. Ahhh, well.
  4. I actually posted this on the game thread long after the Chicken Dinnah was served, sort of an afterthought. Reposting it here, for relevance' sake-- Just musing on the Berrios thing. I know, they don't want to call him up for the service time factor, which makes sense in the longer term. However- ask the White Sox, the Mariners, the Padres, and others- they thought, with the personnel they had, that they would contend this year for sure. The Twinks think, with a full season of Sano, and hopefully, Buxton with more of a clue at the plate, and Berrios in May, that they will contend, too. Point being-- nothing is certain between the lines. When you have the chance, when you're in contention, that's when you have to get it done. Next year? Looks good, maybe great even, for playoffs chances. But--- that's what they thought in SSide Chicago, Seattle, San Diego, and other places... I think they should have called him up.
  5. But if he's not up by April 21, I'm going to start tapping my foot impatiently.
  6. Great stuff, Jeremy. A tip of the cap to you and the gang for all the good work keeping us up on the goings on down on the farm. It's always a good read. Cheers!
  7. And as I type this- Kimbrel, closer extraordinaire, has loaded the bases with 1 out in the 9th. Not what SD fans were thinking.

  9. Hey, wait- I'm a Lookout now? Cool. Just in time for playoffs. I hope they bat me 3rd.
  10. Combining farts with literary classics is a rare talent, indeed, my friend. Too rare indeed.
  11. OH, I forgot- low star of the game- Joe Vavra, for sending Buxton when we could have had 2nd and 3rd and Sano at the plate. W T F.
  12. On the other side of things- who is this Montas guy? Watch out for him, methinks. He's got some stuff.
  13. A lot of guys stepped up big time in this game. Sano, of course, Bux working that walk in a big spot, Zuke had some good battles at the plate, and wow, wasn't it cool to see OUR BP actually shut someone down. But Milone- wow, what a game. Dick made a comment that he had the right ump back there for his kind of pitches, but he took it and ran with it. He gets my #1 star. And Poof gets my #1A- for a guy who's been in a horrendous slump, (and man, was I fragged seeing him in the 3 hole tonight!), he picked himself up off the mat. That play at 3B was outstanding, and to get that hit in that tough situation, especially the way he's been struggling- awesome. Hawk said something a while back, I think in a print article rather than a game, about how much he loves Poof-- something to the effect that, if he looks himself in the mirror one day, and says, I can get it done, believes in himself, he's a 40-HR, 100 RBI guy-- So, once again, I'm grateful for the chicken dinnah, with a side of my own words--
  14. CH- CH- CH- CH------ ahhhhhhh, Chicken dinnaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh......!
  15. Wow, somebody good for a change. And now-- jeepers, I beefed about it at the time, but how does that Jepsen deal look these days?
  16. Great to see Bux take that walk--- now a single might clear the bases!
  17. Rosario might go down swinging helplessly again, but I just like the look of him in the box. He means business, dangerous business up there. In contast, I just wish Poof weren't such a Charlie Brown-lookin' mofo up there. I dunno. It's a psyche thing. Maybe if he went up there snarling for a change, he could get out of his funk. Jeepers, gotta earn your way to hitting in the 3 hole.
  18. Heh... I like that the former Duck was "billed".....
  19. Well, just started new job yesterday, so my TD time is severely diminished. But looks like I'm in time for DINNAH!!!!! Yummmmm..... and it tastes even better when served up by the Sox! Oh, what I wouldn't have given to hear Hawk's silence on that Sano blast! Hmmm... weren't we musing on that earlier?
  20. Bases full, 0 outs? What's the over/under here? 1? I'll take it, if so.
  21. Not since this. So iconic, I'm sure everybody had to throw out all their zubaz. Never could top that.

  23. Do you actually hit anything that way? That could be a key determining factor, speaking as a scientist, of course....
