  1. Taylor Rogers- nice stuff so far. I'm reminded of the late umpire Ron Luciano, when he had a brief stint in retirement as a color announcer. During a Brewers game, Gorman Thomas at bat. "Gorman. Goooorman. Not a ballplayer name. Gorman. Robin. They don't sound like ballplayers." (next batter- Sal Bando) "Sal. Now that's a ballplayer name! Sal. Hey, SAL!" I imagine he might critique Mr. Rogers and a few others these days.
  2. Haaaaawwwww! Priceless- but no way to unsee that now...
  3. Good you on, Pressly. "He gone!" "Grab some bench!" Heard that before somewhere.... Now, Molly, please don't throw him out there again in the 8th, ok? Please?
  4. Just a brief flashback: Pitcher: Hold it like an egg, you said. Catcher: Yeh, and he scrambled it.
  5. Oh, Eddie---- Thank you. Heh.... took Grossman off the hook a little
  6. Hey! You've nailed my wardrobe!
  7. Yep. Heh.... my neighbors might be wondering what that ragged whoop was a few moments ago-- Go Twinkies!
  8. Hi gang-- just checking in. I loathe those red pajama tops.
  9. Oops, here I go, ripping on poor Molly again-- but it's the same old thing; lineups based on reputation, and not on who's seeing the ball and tagging it. Remember last year, when Dozey was stinking up the joint early, and he was kept in a pivotal spot? What's the problem, especially if the guy has a good career track record, with the 7 or 8 spot til he gets back on track? Why keep giving up outs in key spots because you have a hunch the guy is "due?" To Molly's credit, right now there seems to be a lot of 7-8-9 hitters throughout the lineup; not many guys are helping their own cause or the team's. But my God, Bruce B shuffles his lines around when things get stale- drop Joe down to 7 or 8, and get somebody like Polanco in a more advantageous spot. Get somebody up from Roch, get going somehow, some way, because I agree with the above, that Sano is the one and only thing the Twinks have going right now, and he's starting to feel like he has to carry the whole offense right now. It's no wonder he's getting impatient, and soon he may ditch the improvements we've seen so far, and go back to chasing his tail and outside breaking stuff all day long.
  10. ... and that's WITH most of the starters contributing meaningful innings. I shudder to think, if we still had last years April for starting pitching. It's the guys' own fault for not making their pitches, but I gotta go back to Molly misusing guys, too.
  11. Howdy gang-- thanks for making my long subway ride enjoyable- I caught up on all the goings-on in a much more fun way than actually watching the game. S'trooth, I had it on at home, for a brief flicker, and had to leave as soon as Tonk tonked the guy with an 0-2 pitch. Heh.... I have to like the thought of folks observing the aging gweilo on the HK subway, suppressing a chortle, a few guffaws, and at least one milk-out-nose moment while perusing the old smart-phone. And yes, like a few others, I am also having 2016 flashbacks the last few daze...
  12. What a terrific story-- thanks for sharing this, Seth!
  13. I couldn't agree more. Granted, this is only one game, but with such a marginal team we need all hands on deck to squeeze victories out of situations like this- and the manager once again has gacked up his chess pieces in willy-nilly fashion, and disregarded baseball 101 decision making. Again, only one game, but a script so typical of so many others. I am wracking my brain right now to come up with Molly moves that actually helped WIN a game we might not have otherwise, but I can quote you chapter and verse a myriad of situations where his mind-boggling decisions directly or indirectly resulted in a loss that most likely shouldn't have been. He is without a doubt the single worst in-game manager I can recall the Twins having-- and I suffered through the droughts of the 70s and early 80s along the way. I mean, we're talking Ray Miller-caliber here. Granted, he's screwed in a sense with the 13 pitcher debacle-- but my Gawd, if you have 13 of 'em, how about using more than the same one or two? He's got Pressley pitching multiple innings, which cost us one game, then got him NOT walking the hottest hitter in the entire major leagues, which cost us again. Yeh, historically, Avi Garcia is no Joe DiMaggio- but go ahead an pitch to him in the middle of July, when he's settled into his usual motif, not when he's in a total groove, and seeing and hitting the daylights out of any ball that comes his way. And the DanSan thing- don't even get me started.
  14. Hm. Twinks/ Wild. Both 2-1 losers. Wimpy, pathetic offensive display- check. Defensive brain farts leading to losing scores- check. Where's the trifecta here?
  15. Well, the good thing here is Joe can't hit into a DP by himself, so maybe Sano can catch up to one of those 97 mph offerings...
  16. 13 pitchers. 13. And he makes Pressley go more than 1. Thanks, Molly. Should have cleaned the dugout first this past winter.
  17. Just imagine my disappointment when I moved to mainland China in 09- and discovered that fortune cookies, general Tso's chicken, and egg rolls with the hot mustard do not exist here...
  18. Ugh. I ran out of likes on this one.
  19. Well, it is a great start, but we have to remember to take it --- Week to week Day to day Hour to hour The gate is straight Deep and wide (Til we can) Break on through to the other side---
  20. At least it wasn't the shorts---
  21. Well, it's Ball, isn't it? The Lord's Game. And as putrid and hopeless as my home team have been the past few years, I just can't quit them. I won't go to any games this year- unless I make a quick trip Stateside- since I live in freaking Hong Kong. And now- it's up to you guys at TD-- They're on to me at my school, and have cut off my MlbTV access. So, no more following games in between classes and such- (Heh... most of them start at 8AM or so over here- what a great way to start your day!) So--- I MUST DEPEND ON YOU! And the Almighty GAME THREADs to keep me abreast of the goings on. Are you with me out there? Are you with me oot there, eh? (Translated into Canadian for North's benefit)
  22. This is America. No 2nd acts. Ask Fitzgerald. Although that did seem like the leaked plot to the new season of Game of Thrones...
