  1. Y'know, it just dawned on me this game was delayed quite a lot. These day games start around 2AM for me, and while I was awake at that time last night, I was busy with the hair-holding thing. But now that I'm following at "work," it seems interminable. And now- another pitching change. Cripe, just leave Breslow in to take his lumps for the team. It's not like we're worried about that 9-run deficit turning into a 10-run thing. Aww, great. Now I've got drool on my shirt.
  2. Agreed. And, posting this while following the White Sox get-away game, I kinda think we may soon be down to a bench that only includes Gimenez: as a backup catcher- mop up pitcher.
  3. Turley the Terrible (0-1 ERA 12.46) takes on the Quintessential Quintana (3-8 ERA 5.07) today, outdoor baseball permitting. Look for a close one, probably something on the order of 35-23. Twins favor of course. Outstanding opener, DD. A classic. I'd say more, but I already used a good allotment of my 14K in the wee hours, when the Gf returned from a champagne reception with her colleagues; apparently there were oysters involved, too. Spent a lot of quality words on cooing and reassuring, and got to do that hair-holding thing I'd not done since college, sometime in the Carter Administration. Still knew how to do it properly, tho. Guess it's a skill you never lose. That said-- Turley, sheesh. Maybe we shoulda started Buddy in a bullpen game.

  7. ....then you turn yourself around-- that's what it's all about!

  9. I can see Eddie getting packaged in a deadline pitching deal. I wouldn't enjoy that; he's one of my favorite Twins, but I wouldn't be surprised. I am also on the Granite-wagon, though, and would love to see him get a chance at the top of the order. Everyone was anticipating Buxton being the #1 batter for years to come, but that hasn't panned out as yet. And Dozey, bless his heart is NOT (I repeat NOT NOT NOT) a good option as a leadoff hitter. As long as we've given up on having a stolen base guy at the top, why Mr. OBP Grossman ain't leading off, I can't figure. But as far as Eddie goes, I also wonder how much to put on the dugout staff for his failing to overcome the bad habits that still plague him, (and the team when he has those brain-farts). There are a whole bunch of former solid pros on that bench, you'd think someone would have gotten through by now.
  10. I think he becomes a trade chip in a package a little later on. A solid backup with occasional pop- what contender would say no to that for the stretch run? By all accounts, he's a heck of a teammate and clubhouse presence. You need that particularly with a bunch of youngsters, when you hit a slide like this.
  11. anybody know what he threw on the gopher ball to Lindor? I liked his fastball a lot, and he had a nice, tight break on whatever that was he was throwing.
  12. Sparkling coincidences-- Busenitz and Buxton are both from Georgia. Earlier today, USA rugby got pwned by Georgia. In Fifth-Third Bank Stadium---- in Georgia.
  13. Golly, does Miggy make that coming in from 3rd play as well as anyone in the bigs right now? Forgive me, y'all, for still having indigestion over that RF insanity last year.
  14. See, this is the kind of year I was hoping for. Get some young'uns up here, and let 'em feel their way through things. Let them understand that the stuff they got whiffs on down on the farm, big leaguers foul off. So he gives up a dinger. He had a heck of a battle with a terrific hitter. I liked having Rosario up from 'Nooga, too. He got lit, but he got a taste, and a better idea of what to work on. At this point, the Twinks younger hitters are getting ABs up in the bigs, and some of them are progressing well. The pitchers, though, are being held back. Running out the retreads time and again, picking up waiver wire meatballers, that ain't gettin' it done for me.
  15. I think it's maybe to get him some work. Cleveland probably feels they're not going to need their closer at any point in this series.
  16. Contrast that with how Gibby looks on the mound at any time. Especially when he's just given up a bucket of runs. Which is pretty much any time.
  17. Hmm. Maybe trade in the yoga pants for fräuleins in lederhosen... interesting.
  18. I wonder if it's possible to change locations. I don't get those Reba ads, I get stuff like this-- at least on the mobile site anyhow... ...Or maybe that was just a Happy Memorial Day thing.
  19. Is it just me, or did anybody else out there want Mauer to Punto-that one into 1st base?
