  1. There's a lot of justification with convincing stat lines and dollar signs. But I agree with Joe Ryan. It's not about stats. It's about culture. Most likely, nearly all of us have spent time on teams of one form or another, and leadership is a key component. Sonny Gray may have been an a-hole at times, but he was a true battler and a leader. (And #2 in CY voting the year he walked). The part of the headline of this article hits the nail right on the head-- It did begin the downward spiral, because no sooner did we finally win a playoff series (2 games- but who cares?), and have a dependable staff ace, than that silver-spoon, tone-deaf, cake-eater joe pohlad tells the fans that ownership basically doesn't give a ๐Ÿ’ฉ about winning, or the fans. They care only for their pocket book. The pohlads have destroyed any fan connection or interest for years to come, and it most definitely started with that p*ssant joe pohlad's Sonny Gray decision.
  2. Wow, nice box score! 2 jacks for Royce! Pugsley Addams didn't give up a run! Gulfa Tonkin didn't even give up a hit! Cats and dogs, living together! Mass hysteria!!
  3. Haw haw! I went off to classes with 3-3 ball game, and the Vikes looking totally lost! Come back to 2 impressive wins! That settles it- I should only work from now on, and disregard following any ball games. Chicken X 2!
  4. Good stuff! In my LA days, I'd always go to Anaheim when the Twinks were in town! What a treat to meet that lady!
  5. It worked! For once, it worked! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ Hmm... maybe I'll shift over to the vikes game, and see if the mojo holds...
  6. Oh, Bill Rigney, of course.
  7. Come on, Royce, protect those stats by maybe getting a hit.
  8. Gene Mauch, as well as those mentioned above. Is Don Baylor in the Hall?
  9. And who in their right mind wouldn't want to pull away from that vikings game? The Bears are all over 'em, and they look as hapless as the Twins.
  10. Re: Wallner, it's the age-old baseball challenge. He made that wide-open stance part of his adjustment to what pitchers were doing to him, and then they adjusted to that, and found a big hole in that swing. Now he has to re-adjust, and he simply hasn't yet. His offseason challenge will be doing just that, or he's cooked, just like Outman is. Seriously, why did we get that guy? I'd rather see more of DaShawn, and try to "fix" the issues of the guy we already had. And while I'm on the topic of fixin'-- holy cow, Austin M- that last out was the CF's ball all the way, and he was calling it. Your job is to get the hell out and be ready for backing up, not to kneel down in the path of the guy trying to catch that damn ball. Cripe, the basic fundamentals of this moribund team.... Every damn time I watch these guys I'm shouting at somebody or another on my screen for some bone-head primary school brain fart.
  11. Day games happen around 2AM at my house, so once in a while I'll catch a replay or highlights Observations: Haw haw haw! Isbel on that pickoff- looked for all the world like he was trying to do the Olympic butterfly on his way back to 1st! ๐Ÿ˜‚ And what a pick by Pareda! Lewis- I honestly don't know if his move toward 2nd was a designed play or not, but what a cool outcome. If so, it was a super heads-up baserunning play. Which he followed about 1 minute later with a super heads-down baserunning play. ๐ŸŽญ
  12. Omg, that's right. This is going to be like mid-70s Gophers vs. Ohio State. I hope no pitchers will be actually physically killed... ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
  13. I recently re-watched Major League just for the fun of it. But holy moley, it's like the craven pohlad family are trying to copy the script. They've not only trashed the team, but destroyed the good will of the people of the upper Midwest, who've lived and died with the Twinkies since '61. The most crucial step #1 is that family must go, and quickly. Then the new owners have to clean house in the FO and field management. There are some good coaches in that dugout, and Rocco is one of them, but he's long since passed his sell-by date as the head cheese. But that fan good will, and season ticket sales, and TV revenue and the like are going to be a long time in recovering. It may even be fatal by this point. I made this reference in a post shortly after the "Dead" line- they're intentionally going to drive down interest and revenue, and what the heck, here come your 2027 Raleigh-Durham Twins. ๐Ÿคฎ
  14. Spot on comments. I keep echoing Reusse from the other day, did they have to cut loose the WHOLE bullpen!?!? The only guys we "kept" are the ones we couldn't unload to anyone, probably not even the Rockies.
  15. Heh-- just caught the replay of that Montgomery HR-- One guy in that WHOLE outfield section, and he didn't even give a ๐Ÿ’ฉ enough to go get the ball. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ But even scarier- that horrible White Sox announcer-- "back it goes..." (facepalm emoji here)
  16. Oops- Ninja'd by Ziggy! ๐Ÿ˜… But still a disgrace.
  17. Omg-- Corey- 1st time EVER 4-game White Sox sweep. EVER. What a disgrace.
  18. Wow- Martin, Outman, and Fitzgerald- we have a veritable Mullet-ers Row!
  19. Heh.... if they actually decide to SEND a train to the Targรฉt stop.
  20. Post of the night-- just about says it all! ๐Ÿ˜ฟ๐Ÿ˜ฟ
