    Really impressive workouts from the EDGE and LB group yesterday at the combine. Nolan Smith from Georgia will be rewarded with a fat NFL check. I’m guessing he is high on the Vikings draft board.

    Really fascinating article to read. The ability to quickly process what’s happening on the field and how much space you have to work with is so crucial to QB success. No wonder why Purdy saw immediate success if he tested similarly to Drew Brees, Mahomes, and Josh Allen. This company is only contracted to work with 14 NFL teams, and hopefully the Vikings are one of them. On a positive note, they mentioned at the end of the article that this QB class tested significantly better than last year’s class. Makes me interested in drafting a QB from this class that tested well.

    Good plan @Danchat . Especially since the theme of your plan is push all the chips in for a SB, which I can see the Wilfs dictating. Not a big fan of the 2/$80 extension for Kirk… But not inconceivable. I’m good with anything except a long term (3+ year) extension for him. I’ve heard on Vikings podcasts that a Brian O’Niell restructure saves the team $10 million in cap space. So you may be selling that too low in your plan. Instead of Bradberry, I’m targeting Byron Murphy Jr instead (if he hits the market). Bradberry for pennies on the dollar that Philly paid is a steal. Him at full price? Meh. Don’t have too much of an opinion on the draft yet. I will say right now my draft crushes are LB Trenton Simpson, NT Siaki Ika, and C John Michael Schmitz.

    Yeah, unfortunately there’s not too many teams that will give up a 5th round pick for him. My hope is one of the Florida teams so they can play the “he’s coming home” card. But it’s a hard sell to trade a pick away and take on $6-8 million in salary when they can do what we want to do… Draft a RB and go cheap.

    I’d rather take my chances that CB Byron Murphy Jr. takes a leap forward as a 25 year old free agent vs. 29 year old Jalen Ramsey. His elite days are over.

    Best for both parties to move on. Hopefully we can find a trade partner at the scouting combine. If not, let him loose on the free agent market.

    FWIW Loftin added 20 lbs of muscle over the offseason. He is my pick to click for the Royals besides the obvious choices Melendez and Witt Jr.

    I’m all for moving Sands to the pen. I think he’ll be much more likely to stick on the Twins as a fastball/curve ball/occasional change up reliever.

    No arguments here. All 3 of these players are on the edge of flaming out in the minors, which is disappointing. Won’t be the first or last time a prospect I like gets derailed in the minors.

    Puzzling to give him an MLB contract. He’s either taking Larnach or Gordon’s spot on the opening day roster.

    I understand the reasoning you did. It’s still not a great deal for Lewis. He could make $17+ million in one arbitration season if he indeed becomes the star player TD has touted since he was drafted. This is the type of deal that a role player like Max Kepler takes.

    I like that he’s a high batting average guy. Like others here I’m speculating why we gave him an MLB contract. Perhaps Falvey feels the heat on his chair and wants to roll with as many veterans as possible?

    Pretty much. The terms Nick proposed would require a boat load of incentives. Otherwise he’s losing a ton of future compensation.

    If Lewis is indeed a star in the making that I’ve been reading on this site for 6 years, this contract proposal is selling himself extremely short of his earning potential. I don’t see why he would entertain this right now.

    There’s no chance Burnes is getting traded at this time. Nor are the Twins in any position to make a trade like that as @Major League Readysaid. We’re projected to win 82 games…

    Agreed. The Jets are basically the 2018 Vikings. Playoff ready defense, with young playmakers at WR1 and RB. All they’re missing is a QB. The Jets hired Rodgers’ buddy Nathaniel Hackett at OC for one reason, and one reason only… If they miss out on Rodgers and Carr, they’ll be pretty desperate and call around. Kwesi should answer that call.

    Should be a fun offseason of QB movement again. Carr should leave the loaded AFC and pick whatever team in the NFC South he wants. I’ll predict he ends up with the Panthers. Aaron Rodgers… Is GB finally fed up with his craziness? If he does end up getting traded, I think he lands in Vegas to be reunited with his buddy Davonte Adams. He doesn’t want to follow Favre’s footsteps and get traded to the Jets. Jimmy G… Long list of injuries now but still a middle of the pack QB. He could end up on any team in the NFC South, or Washington. Lamar Jackson… Will Baltimore pay him Watson money? I probably wouldn’t. The chaotic path is they franchise tag him and trade him to Atlanta for a boat load of picks. The Jets are going to be desperate for a QB… And personally I’m trying to manifest Kirk getting traded there for a 2023 3rd and conditional 2024 pick.

    You’re not wrong about being far away from the elite teams. The only reason I thought 2022 could be the Vikings’ year is because of all the luck favoring our team. Can’t say I’ve seen a year where so many things bounced our way. It’s becoming damn near impossible to build a SB contending team without either a good QB on a rookie contract, or a HOF caliber expensive veteran. As time moves on, I think the 2021 Rams will look more like an anomaly.

    I hope Kwesi and KOC are smart enough to know last season’s 13 wins were inflated by a ton of luck breaking their way, and a favorable schedule featuring tons of backup QBs. Running it back with a similar roster and a first place schedule in 2023 won’t be as rosy.

    The irony is some QBs on past top 10 lists ended up regressing heavily (Wilson and Stafford) or ended up retiring (Brady) and Kirk still ends up perpetually in the 11-15 range for QB rankings.
