  1. Just getting caught up here.. For those watching the game, did Milone just have an off game? I mean I wasn't expecting 11-12 ks out there like AAA but 0 today??
  2. There is plenty of fat to trim in the bullpen.. (looking at you Timmy and Duensing) And when the time comes, there may have to be a discussion on one of the starters transitioning to the pen as a long-relief guy. In my opinion, May, Gibson, and Pelfrey should be locks in the rotation. Whoever is struggling in the rotation should be the odd man out and transitioned into the long-relief mop up role in the bullpen.
  3. I'm not a fan of using LOL but you really did make me laugh out loud. Thanks for that. *Instantly turns on Netflix and puts on Green Bastard episode of TPB
  4. I'm too young to know this.... Tim Belcher. Anything to write home to mom about? Also, Delmon Young ranked #18?? Yikes.
  5. Every time you make a post, I imagine Bubbles saying exactly what you say, including a couple of F words injected in the sentences. Do you get this a lot?
  6. Tulo very well could be traded this season, especially if they're out of the race for the playoffs early. They have built their entire roster around Tulo and Carlos Gonzalez. My opinion, and what do I know, is they will demand at least one of the following: Buxton, Sano, Berrios + other prospects to rebuild. I just don't think it's realistic because there is no evidence that the Twins have ever made that type of trade before. The Rockies as usual desperately need pitching. And it seems the natural fit would be a team like the Mets who could include Syndergaard as the key piece in a trade.
  7. .146 BA since May 17th... 14 k's in 41 at bats. He's for sure in a slump and certainly shouldn't be featured in the every day lineup. But hey he hit a HR today ohh boy!
  8. Very refreshing to see the 9 k's on the board.. One of our many "flaws" the national writers are pointing out as reasons the Twins can't keep up this season. How do you like us now?!
  9. He should be 4th in line behind Vargas, Pinto, and Arcia. FREE VARGAS!!
  10. I hope so. I love watching him pitch. He's won me over as a fan; I would be quite disappointed if he ever got sent down to AAA
  11. The curse of it being an odd year? Kind of interesting to look at his stats since he's been a full-time starter he has a good year on even years, followed up by off years on odd years. Either way we have to hope that he finds what was working for him last year. Otherwise he will be the new punching bag for us fans in the future.
  12. Money & roster slot well spent to get out of that inning with Stauffer.......
  13. Maybe Stauffer comes in to mop up in the 8th? If this isn't the game to get him some work, I'm not sure what role they want him to fill in this bullpen.
  14. Looking back at your original post Mike, I think we're on the same page. We're for sure talking about trading the same type of players this year (depth 1B/OF being your example, bench players and bullpen arms being mine) If we can get anything of substance that can help us this year for those players, sure I am with you. I don't know what you could get for them.
  15. Yes you are correct, the Wild went out and bought the 2 best FA's out there in 2012. They also continued to build the minor system and now you see today the young ones making an impact. The Twins have done that as well the best way they can in an uncapped FA market with Nolasco (whether we like it or not) and Ervin. The Wild got to this point 3 years later without selling the farm, and I'd prefer for the Twins to follow that model of not selling the farm this season. In 2016 and beyond, my mindset will change. Let's say we make the playoffs this year, get swept in round 1. I would hope we have our core intact and fill in the new guys (Buxton, Sano, Berrios) where they can. If we are still a position or pitcher short of being real contenders, by all means necessary get the job done. I hope I made my opinion clear that I'm willing to let it be in 2015. 2016 and beyond it's on to be WS contenders.
  16. I feel like we're at the point with the Twins of the 2012-13 Minnesota Wild. For the Twins, after 4 straight 90 loss seasons, finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel into contention. I do not agree with the "buy now" group when it comes to trade deadline deals. I would much rather have a 5 year window of being contenders over a 1 year let's win right now mentality. Yes, a lot can happen where our prospects get hurt, never develop, etc. But we've done a good job of filling the cupboards in the Minors with future options and fill ins on the MLB club. If anything I am more on the "selling" side at the trade deadline for this season, but not blockbuster type deals (a bullpen arm, Pinto, a bench player is what I'm thinking) After this season, we reassess what we have, what we need, and be more aggressive, whether through trades or free agency, in order to remain playoff contenders for not just the short term, but long term.
  17. Escobar must have some incriminating photos of TR while he was on the road... It's the only logical explanation for continuing to play him everyday.
  18. I guess I should have put a disclaimer at the bottom that stated this post is a joke.
  19. Dave Cameron: "Well, I just got the assignment from the big man to write about the Twins, this should be fun. Now let's type in some numbers in the system to talk analytics." *furiously fills numbers into computer system* DC: "Hmm, can't compute? Maybe I just typed in a wrong number somewhere..." *fixes error, and types 30 into Win Total column, hits enter* DC: "This is taking much longer to process, hmm." *walks away to get AM coffee and chat up Amy the new receptionist* DC: "OH MY GOD get Tim from IT in here immediately! The system couldn't handle the Twins projections, and now it's deleting everything on the server!" *Dave, still mad about the Twins breaking their precious projection algorithm, decides to write that the Twins really aren't this good and Baseruns is the only projection that matters At least that's how I imagined how his morning went when he wrote his article........
  20. Ricky Nolasco miraculously leads the team with 5 wins.
  21. Mike Pelfrey hasn't deserved any criticism this season.
  22. Seems to be on par at this point to how the nation thinks of our team. In the limited coverage I've seen on Baseball Tonight & SportsCenter, no one knows what to think of the hot month of May. I keep hearing what an amazing turn of events, but not a lot of believers yet. Another good month of June should have more people jumping on the bandwagon.
  23. I think Duensing has a tiny bit more value as a lefty in the bullpen over Stauffer, even though Duensing has done nothing of significance this season. So, see you later Timmy. As far as Vargas vs. Arcia, I'm in the Vargas camp to see him back up in Minneapolis. I have no stats to back up this decision. It's purely personal on my part where arcia really rubbed me the wrong way with his boneheaded mistakes in the OF and body language earlier this season.
  24. I wonder if it's more difficult or easier to negotiate with the Phillies? Especially this year when GM Ruben Amaro is in his last year of his deal, and clearly on the hot seat to lose his job. Either he could hold his players extremely close to the vest and request the world to make a trade... Or he could be like me at my last sales job knowing I was going to be let go.... "Hey why don't I go ahead and upgrade that account for you. AND I'll give you the "end of the month" discount early." AKA don't give an F mentality
